Anyone still holding RHB Asian Total Return and/or RHB Emerging Markets Bond Fund? Or switched to Affin Hwang ones?

I sold both already. RHB ATR held more than 6 months, RHB EMBF held about 1 year. But since RHB EMBF is 'promoted' by Xuzen now, new people are entering into it.

Isn't him the one who preached that since EPF since already a pseudo-fixed income investment, what's the point of holding a bond fund? whistling.gif

If one sees the portion in EPF as sort of fixed income, then it means young people joining the work force, need to put more into bond fund for his cash investment; while people who have work quite some time already, can go all out with the cash investment into higher % equity investment, as their EPF money could already be quite significant.

This turns out to be the opposite of what most people think ( that the more senior people need to go more conservative. )

Your matematik/finance fail la doh.gif

E.g.
When young - EPF got RM10K inside
If u invest RM90K in equity funds
U are 90% EQ:FI 10%

When u get older e.g. 50 year old - EPF have RM1mil
Let's say u wish for 50:50 allocation
U should have RM1mil in equities/equity fund

For the purpose of discussion, KWSP should be viewed as a mixed-asset. Not bond nor is equities. Because inside KWSP portfolio consist of share, bonds and properties.

I don't understand your point here.

My point is as follows.

Assuming both cases of people want to allocate 50:50,

Young people: 10K in EPF,
then if he has 90K of cash, he needs to allocate 50K equity, 40K bond to achieve 50:50 ratio.
( So within the cash investment, the bond % is very high ).

Old people: 1 mil in EPF.
Assuming he as 1 mil or less of cash, then 100% of his cash can be allocated to equity investment, there is no need of any allocation to bond.

Young people don't need high fixed income %, they may or can afford to go high on equity %.

The only things I can recall are learned from Hollywood - so don't know whether it is true or not - that the Chinese curse their enemies by wishhing them "May you live in exciting times."

So things sort of quiet down... Korea Angst Shows Signs of Abating as Stocks Rise: Markets Wrap https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...pi-markets-wrap

... till DPRK shoots some test missiles later this week or maybe next week, and my guess is Trump will shoot them down in mid flight - just to show that USA can do so.

Then there will be mad rush to exit...

I view my epf amount as 60:40 equity:bond...
then add it to my self-invest amount to achieve desired allocation (110-age = equity)

ok ka?

I don't agree with the part which you see the EPF as 60:40 equity:bond.

Historically EPF has been moving around 4.5%-7%, so it is best seen as 30% equity : 70% bond.

Lower in equity !
