mid 60s during cinebench stress test? thats impressive
but honestly if its under 85c during stress test, should be fine? It's only at above that and for prolong period would it be bad for cpu right? but still cooler temps always welcome
That temperature is perfectly fine. It won’t stay at that level all the time unless the CPU is under continuous heavy load, it won’t hit that under normal use.

Indeed. Normally what people do is not to aim for as cool as possible (in this case 60+ C) but improving the thermal headroom so they can detuned the fan speed down at the same 80-ish C state, the fans might only need to run at medium speed giving an overall quieter system. Basically same temps for the PC but quieter noise output.
Time to join new thread. Recently got back on the AMD bandwagon with a 7500F. iirc my last AMD was an Athlon64 a long time ago.
Anyways I'm using an MSI B650M Gaming Plus Wifi, is the "Game Boost" option in BIOS the same as PBO? Still blur about all these new Ryzen stuff.
iinm PBO just unlocks TDP limit of the CPU and lets it overclocks up to thermal limit. Game boost is different that it does process lasso for games to prioritise CCD with X3D cache, useful for X3D CPUS, also i not sure but for nonX3D it also lassos to the CCD chiplet that can boost higher(?)
RAM prices are really crazy now. wanna build a new PC with 9800x3D, a 16gbx2 kit 6000MHz CL30 cost like RM800+ easily.
Ady told here RAM price is shooting up so if can, build now otherwise buy the RAM 1st then other parts later on. Intel also is raising CPU prices. AMD CPU prices ady jack up to scalper level by distros and likely will go up if Intel price hikes comes here. So buy that too.
SSD prices is ady high but will go up higher thanks to AI, so buy these right now too. Only GPU if not buy 5070Ti & higher, better wait for Supers with more VRAM.
Last week I bought Klevv Cras 16GBx2 6000 CL28-36-36 1.4V for RM639 before vouchers. From Just IT Shopee.
edit: yikes seems like the price has gone up since then.
Distros & resellers here very smart, when global price hikes they quickly raise prices, every week if possible. When global price drops, they manmanlai giving lotsa excuses to maintain high level. All of them pakat so theres no way to avoid paying high prices unless they cannot sell then start to drop until the next wave of price hikes.

Yup. Did not keep up with the thread. Just coincidence needed to send my parts to my mum's PC as replacement. All about timing.
I just gotten that Acer predator 6000MHz CL30, MSI B650M gaming plus wifi mentioned here, phantom spirit 120 SE and the 9800X3D. Not sure that Dell 1000W PSU is compatible or not. If not probably need to get a PSU as well. Any recommendations for a PSU. btw, gonna pair it with my existing RTX 4090.

Check connectors. Dells are usually along with its proprietary mobo sockets. Not compatible with standard ATX format.
FSP Hydro whatever Pro/G/PTM as long ATX3.x and comes with 12VHPWR connector are be solid. Otherwise FSP Vita GM or 1st Player NGDP.
he claims hdd prices not really. For desktop hard drives rated for 8 hours a day, i can see that.
But i don't think thats the case for 24/7 NAS or server hard drives. prices at least in malaysia seem to be quite high For amd cpu shopee prices as of this month roughly
That utuber is based Florida USA, so cant compare spot prices between 2 continent nations like that as USA hardware is generally much cheaper than Msia (as you have found out).
But in general if theres an industrial wide price hike in USA/global you can expect similar rises here too.
HDD is old tech so lesser demand from advance countries like USA where high capacity SSD are very affordable for them. In Msia price of SSD is double that for same capacity HDD and roughly double with a doubling of size going up, so HDD demand here will be higher for budget builds.

The just got that Hydro PTM 1200W, which is now ATX3.1. Although seller advertise it as ATX3.0, it came as 3.1. Fitted everything into a Lian Li A3 mATX case, tight fit.😂

about RM2k Amd 7800x3d for RM1,470.90 *about rm 1.6k for the boxed on wallmart on pcpartpicker chart amd now in the news
basically patent trolls targeting amd
For that 9800x3D, typically shopee will have those 15% discount voucher, so the final price is ,~RM1728. Price difference between the 7800x3d tray is around RM500.
For HDD, few months ago, bought 2 used EXOS 16TB from shopee for ~RM800 each. It was used around 22K hours. See how long it holds up. My Toshiba N300 12TB just kaput just after 3 years 3months usage. Just over the 3 years warranty.😅

FSP website calls it ATX3.0 tho. Not really much difference, just the Nvidia socket end is newer 12V 2X6 H++ type. No change needed from PSU side.
Got myself Ryzen 7 8700F, Colorful B850i, Klevv Urbane 48GB DDR5 6000 CL30. Not going for 9800X3D because it is extremely overpriced. And I already got very powerful CPU for work.
Will update if it is value for money or not.

This is the first comment from Reddit "8700F is a (naming) scam. It is a 8700G without the integrated graphics, so it's slower than the 7500F, due to the lower L3 cache (at least in gaming)."
And this is the 2nd comment "8700F is a defective laptop CPU resold for desktop use. It lacks features like PCIe 5.0 and performs worse as a result."
8000 series main USP is the very gaming capable APU so without that I wonder whats its purpose because it sounds like it isnt much cheaper than 7000 series.

I don't blindly buy stuff.
Low power pc, 8700F with price comparable with i5-14400. Full blast is not the target performance. 8 p-cores with mono die is the main strength. I'll just jump into 9800X3D if I want pcie 5.0. Not like pcie 5.0 SSD is affordable anyway.

Hmm, personally if i wanted low power usage i would gone with 8700G since i then can leverage its APU even for simple things like display output. Which is why I question the existence of 'F sku' CPU that has none of the APU advantages.

1.7k for the 9800x3d? is that tray? if i knew i'd buy that.
right now i'm using a 7800x3d and tbh i get the fps for apex legend which is really all i play. so not too big a loss :/
i saw those rm, 800 16tbs or similar to it. not gonna do that again. high chance those are used with the smart reseted. AND/OR they also have issue with warranty. EVEN IF, they claim got store warranty, THATS BS. and if u ask shopee to help in 1-2 year even during the valid store warranty, shopee wont help u.
cheapest i found from reliable source is rm 1.6k i dont like the price but what to do. i need the drive but i dont want a NO warranty. shopee is useless.

I already have A380 and RTX 3050. Paying almost double the price for gaming performance that is still weaker is a hard pass.
