prime95 stop in middle means calculation error.. calculation error means theĀ  processor/memory cannot compute e.g crashing

crash doesn't mean BSOD.. it can be the program exit halfway

anyway, you can have a different definition of crashing .. it's your opinion
*
If it stopped few seconds in, my informed opinion is something is not right at fundamental level, I would be open to more interpretations if it stopped in the middle / after few minutes. I've been at this long enough, at this point I am partial to the xmp theory. Will test.

It's the platform instability with zen 3. See if it works a 3200 with the ryzen 5000
*
It really was MSI's AXMP.

At disabled - 2133

No issues - Prime95 no error 10 mins in, Aida64 stability test no warning 10 mins in.

I'm trying to get some manual values from Ryzen DRAM calc to input.

good I was right up there then.

and no ryzen calc won't fix this as this is no ram issue.

this is an imc/fclk issue.
and that's across all boards and platforms.
worse on some better on others.

run it on the second 3200 xmp profile and you *should* be fine until AMD fixes their terrible AGESA.
*
run it on the second 3200 xmp profile ? Where do I find this ? haha.. I only see 2 AXMP profiles in the bios, Profile 1 and 2 and both are identical (18-22-22-42 timings for 3600).

Guys, particularly @ NRW,

Is this kit decent? To be used on x570 Tomahawk.

raydenex why don't you just keep your 4x8GB sticks until Agesa 1.1.0.0 D is coming out in early Q1 2021 (some betas probably by late this month)?
That would almost certainly fix your issues. So technically no need to upgrade.

The above Kingston kit will run at 18-21-21 once you slot it in. Fine if cheap.

If others happen to be hunting for non RGB kits with some OC headroom... I got two fresh 32GB (2x16GB) kits in which will be for sale starting this weekend.
*
Roger that. Oh why would it default to c18 instead of 17? Btw the kit above is actually on the mb's QVL list as opposed to my corsairs.

Those BL2K16G32C16U4B kits you have for sale, I'll drop you a PM shortly.

I was initially worried about the 5800x temps as well, seeing a few sources around the net claiming it's significantly hotter than a 5900x. So right now I'm not sure if if my case is the rule or the exception, mine runs decent. Cooled by an EK AIO 240mm. My idle is always below 40c and load temps while playing Cyberpunk 2077 is 72c. CB20 hits 81c.

I would certainly put a decent 240/280/360mm AIO on a 5900x or 5950x.

QUOTE(Smart007 @ Jan 14 2021, 04:37 AM)
hey guys just upgraded from ryzen 3 1200 to ryzen 7 3700x
the temp reach 88c according to hwinfo64 while gaming with negative offset 0.050v, is this normal?

this is my spec:
Case: Tecware Nexus M
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x (ID Cooling SE-244-XT)
Mobo: Asrock B450M Pro4 (B3.60 Agesa 1.0.0.3)
Ram: Kingston HyperX DDR4 2666Mhz (Oc'ed to 2933Mhz 1.25v)
GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 (70c while gaming underclock and undervolt) 80c if not
PSU: Super Flower Silver Eco 600W
*
Your temps are more or less expected with that case and cooler. Also if I may add, ID Cooling SE-244-XT is a bit underwhelming choice for the 3700x. That budget cooler is great yes, but more suited to the 3600.

I got a 5800x for about RM 2130 (slightly above its RM 2049 MSRP) as well back in late December when the 5900x was nowhere to be found for MSRP. Initially if you're comparing 5800x at RM 2049 to the 5900x at RM 2499 (was the MSRP 2449, 2459 or 2499, my memory fails me), then yes no way in hell I'd go for a 5800x, make so little sense even from a price point, we haven't even start talking about the temperature issues that were cropping up online specific to the 5800x.

Then I got the 5800x, installed it, used it and... pleasantly surprised. Cooled by an EK AIO 240, CP2077 load temps never breach 70c. Idles at 40-41c, and with my room A/C on, I've seen idles at 33c even. Most likely got a golden sample I guess.

Fair point. With prices on market fluctuating these days, it's difficult to compare just with MSRP alone.
Nice temps, definitely won the lottery there. No issues with USB connectivity, cold boot, or WHEA errors?
*
Nope bro, not at all, frequently eyeballed the event logs etc to be sure. Experienced some crashes the first 2-3 days, which was resolved by not using XMP and just dialing in my memory main timings. Klevv Cras XR 4000c19 kit (Hynix DJR) tuned at 3800c16 stable. X570 Tomahawk, still running on BIOS revision 1.40 from End-Oct 2020 (AGESA 1.1.0.0).

Some folks here had their points on what was wrong with AMD beginning with Zen 2 and now Zen 3. Bonchi and gang is not wrong for what they raised. But you keep harping on it over and over and over again, bitter A F, it gets tiring for the rest of us. You throw shade at the AMD fanboys, defending AMD blindly. But your constant hating has put you on the other extreme end of that spectrum now.

If AMD has done it's work properly and release products without much issues for users to grapple with; we couldn't complain much.
BUT in reality, it's NOT smooth sailing.....and not very PLEASANT user experience.
*
I hope you're not taking offense at my statement. I didn't say raising the issues and throwing shade was wrong. I readily admitted the few of you throwing constant hate at AMD on this thread have your points and you're not wrong. I'm just saying if its not apparent enough to yourselves, it has gotten rather sickening to the rest of us. We got the point already. Pages and pages ago.

Was I being too optimistic to expect you guys to graciously accept someone pointing out that the constant banging on AMD has gone a little too far here? Your points are all valid, and most, if not all people here digested it many many pages ago. There is really no need to keep throwing shade.

How is telling a forumer to go ahead with a 5800x instead of waiting a heavenly opportunity for a discounted 5900x banging on AMD?

Really.. so any troubleshooting inquiries or lower tier rig suggestions to match budget are treated as AMD hate huh? I guess AMD fanboys are all 5900x master race.
*
I'm not speaking in response to that. I have no issue with that at all. That's between you and whoever it was you're squabbling with.

Heck I use a 5800x myself. What 5900x master race? I'm making a general statement in this thread, banging on AMD over and over is not different than the fanboys who blindly defend AMD.

That's equally as bad, just on different ends of the spectrum. The point has been driven to everyone. Don't have to take opportunity once or twice every Thread page to insert a negative comment towards AMD, how you moved on to Intel and life is great now, how AMD this, how AMD that. Many people see it. We don't speak up and now when someone does, don't get triggered please. Just cut it out already. Your points were ALL VALID. Can you not see I am agreeing with you, Targon, whoever else on your camp. I am. You guys just have to ease up on the negativity towards AMD already. We get it. We do. Chill out lah.

Altho i should be tagging @xboxx because he's the one butthurt, not you.

Im already long chill thus no more personal complains for weeks already since ive already moved on. I get that my previous comments were harsh when i was still using AMD which is inevitable because i was voicing out as a user back then... But that was in the past.

Now for the past weeks, just simply telling a user to get 5800x because it is available, or telling john to check power settings because of idle voltage problem, and discussions about the good idle behavior of the monolithic renoir 4000G series are all considered AMD hate?
*
When I finally posted just now its my general comment on all the past hate many pages back, that went on for quite a bit. You said it yourself, it was rather harsh. I'm happy you've found peace with your i5 10400 now on a stable that meets your standards platform. I am genuinely glad you don't face issues anymore. However I would like to just kindly remind us all, there would be no 6c12t i5 if it weren't for AMD. Nor a 8c16t i7. i9 would be HEDT segment only. As much as we MUST raise issues when AMD falters, we must also give credit where credit is due. Peace.
