I think 5950X event difficult to get.

I am using AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, with Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite WIFI MB. Memory is HyperX FURY DDR4 RGB and I also facing random crash previously when I put my system idle. I know something is happen as my Edge browser open tab is crash. I did not overclock my system except the RAM XMP is on.

So far it is ok now after update / do following.

• Bios update, now in latest F31o
• Disable Fast reboot (I don't see the needs as I cannot feel the differences at all in this new machine, probably already too fast to notice).
• EasyTune app update, I think this had nothing to do with the crash but at least now this is working, in previous version I cannot open as it keep showing my CPU is not support overclock. lol. I just want all apps able to open, I did not use it capability of overclock. Haha!
• RGBFusion app update, finally the RAM RGB is function in proper when XMP is enable.
• Disable Internal onboard Sound - I not sure this onboard sound is one of the culprit or not, but I do face before the system crash and restart when I set monitor auto sleep. Now using SoundBlaster AE-9 and never face this issue anymore. I not plan to enable back to test as I no need it anymore.

I think Gigabyte apps is quite buggy and it did not solved it before release a new product (not so new also that motherboard) to market.

For on board sound I not plan to turn on back anymore since I won't use it anymore.

Easy Tune I not using, just highlight until this Dec update it just working for 5000 series CPU.

nrw Just change C-States from Auto to Disable and turn on Fast boot, will monitor now, hope this solved the idle crash issue.

I use profile 1 and it is around 3200 Mhz and set it at Bios.
Before this I disable XMP but also same facing idle crash issue.

Oh, but none is running at background, I think should be ok. I choose all not auto run when PC start except RGBFusion as that one I need it.

Haha! oh is it, later I go check check.

CP can still handle very well with UW version of CP with dlss and RTX Full Ultra up to Psycho preset. Not 100fps but very playable 60 to 70 fps.

But if 4K then not very well.

Asus normally is out from my target, Asus often selling over price. Haha!

and LG is my preferable brand for Display.

I think I had fixed the crash issue. the culprit is the RAM setting.
The crash even happen when I play 4K HDR movie and enlarge it using MPV player.

Before in XMP profile 1 Auto detect value.
tCL - 16
tRCD - 18
tRP - 18
tRAS - 36
tRC - 74

After all set manually but change value of tRC.
tCL - 16
tRCD - 18
tRP - 18
tRAS - 36
tRC - 56

I hope this is correct value and no more crash, haizz...

In between anyone using value generate from DRAM Calculation for Ryzen? The value is very far different, thus I didn't try.
I Google around, some said not recommended, thus I didn't try also. I don't want later cannot boot and need clear CMOS.

As long it wont crash and not impact much of the performance. I am ok.

So far seems ok.

Just please no more crashing for no reason.

Replicate XMP from auto to manual do solve the issue for me. I Google around and this was some Reddit member solution.

I think I should consider very lucky.

I manage to grab last unit of Ryzen 9 5900X at price lowered little than MSRP at RM 2,450.00 on 13 Nov 2020.

Of course need to bundle with full set, this time was ok to me as I need buy new PC.

Future proof or not is not that important to me as I never change my CPU before, the only change is added more RAM or change GPU.

The time when need to change CPU time is already a time for build new PC. That is probably another 5 years thing.

Previously I said my PC crash issue, I change RAM setting still not 100% solve.

Now I can ensure it is software issue, I use MPV player at my old laptop and never had issue crash when playing 4K HDR content to SDR, but it keep crashing and PC restart when playing 4K HDR in HDR. After more test by off my windows HDR, no more crashing issue.

Later I try others player in HDR play in HDR and no issue. So that playback crash system is MPV player issue.

I had uninstall the association with MPV and remove entirely the application.

Now using JRiver Media center. I love this apps as easier to get best quality setting of MadVR. Awesome quality and playback was freaking smooth.

Another alternative is VLC Player.

MPC-HC MPC-BP is a great choice for people prefer manually tunes MadVR.

Important no more of restart issue.

Because I test others player no issue, include Windows 10 media player, VLC Player, J River Media Center, and MPC-HC player, all instant switch to HDR, instant switch within Windows and full screen, instant play and no crash and no windows restart.

But this only happen in MPV player where HDR movie stuck during full screen switching, sometimes it will make my pc restart. The MPV Player not facing such issue when playback in SDR include HDR movie convert to SDR output. I can't test at my laptop as my laptop GPU not support HDR output to HDR monitor

So I conclude this is software bugs also as none of others player I test had this issue. Total 5 player test, only 1 player crash my PC.
