Bought online education price, DHL sent over, no request for student ID

Many buy online using the education price and it's not a secret that many many do. Im sure Apple knows about it, and the price difference isn't that much, doubt Apple will even care.

You ever bought anything from there? Thanks

Yeah but not with student ID if that's what you're asking. Another place to go is the EpiCentre shop that's on the Lim Kok Wing campus.

Refer here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=86496967 for some price checks I did before I bought my MBP 13". You can get 5% off from Aeon.

Hey, I'm looking to buy the same MBP as yours (512/8).

I will be heading back to Malaysia in a couple of days but I don't quite understand the TRS in Malaysia. As far as I'm concern, as a Malaysian citizen I'm ineligible to claim the refund?
anyway, Apple education site listed it for $7,549 which I am quite happy with. Do you think I can get a better price from other retailers?

On Apple K-12, 8/512 is RM8449. 7549 is 8/256.

As for TRS, you'll need a foreign passport and you'll need to be flying out from Malaysia. The process is quite convoluted. First you gotta find a TRS participating retailer like Machines. When you buy the product, you show them your foreign passport and hope that they have the TRS form. Later when leaving Malaysia, you go to the TRS claim counter at KLIA to claim your GST refund.

For Malaysians, it's much easier to claim GST through a company.

Or just buy from one of the parallel importers in Low Yat.

my mistake, saw the wrong model.
If its $8449 then I'll just buy it here because it's way cheaper.

The first four eighth-generation processors launching today are U-series chips suitable for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini. They're all 15W chips with four cores and eight threads, paving the way for a quad-core 13-inch MacBook Pro should Apple choose to release one.

The new Core i5 and Core i7 chips have integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, and support both DDR4-2400 and LPDDR3-2133 RAM.

Given the lack of LPDDR4 support, which allows for up to 32GB RAM, a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with an eighth-generation Core processor would likely remain capped at 16GB of RAM. Apple marketing Phil Schiller explained why last year.

Word.

But standby a student ID just in case if they decide to audit your purchase which happens but not very often. Worse case if you fail to produce one is that they will charge the discount to your credit card.

How would they audit you?

Actually for education can mean a lot of things. If someone home school then where is the ID?

For education can mean you use the Mac for learning video editing...etc

Agreeed but to Apple, education is more specific.

If home school and no ID then I guess cannot buy. But if you write to Apple to explain your situation, they might make an exception. They're quite accommodating or else just cheat & lie.

I agree with your last statement too. That's why all my Macs are bought under K-12 (when they're not cheaper elsewhere). Even my cat when we were educating him to pee in the litter. We gave him a proper name just for that purpose.
