that is why my question just between that 2 model,
RM12,499 (2.9GHz Processor 512 GB Storage)
RM10,799 (2.8GHz 256GB storage) with upgrade to 512gb + 4gb graphic card cost RM 12,179

2.9GHz Processor and 2.8GHz Processor, no different right

macbook not just something that bring to starbucks, professional still need it.

couple of suggestion as per below link

https://petapixel.com/2017/07/18/5-reasons-...-video-editing/
http://www.techradar.com/news/best-laptops...editing-in-2017
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-15-i...-video-editing/

in my opinion, Radeo pro 560 are not powerful enough compared to even gtx 1050ti and above.
I'm not expert and I don't know how the video editing utilize the graphic card and etc.
But if ram is concern, I would reckon to use the DDR4, go for at least 6gb VRAM card and powerful cpu and SSD is a must.
if you need faster storage go for Samsung NVRAM SSD PCIE, costly but deadly extreme in speed.

Still, the mac os sierra might overcome the hardware utilization and maximize the output, like all the apple os alwasy do.

Try view couple of video from youtube before making a solid decision.

All newer mac book Pro can handle video editing no problem

Especially when wedding videos will mostl be done on Premiere or FCP X I guess? No 3D or AE involved

I think your bigger question is not the 2.9 or 2.8 ghz
Consider the internal memory also

If I am u, since u are already spending this amount, go for the whole hog and take the higher spec one lah 😊

Then the 2.8 should be okay (I have checked on apple website again)

But Bro, u sure 512 gb okay?

If I am spending that much, I will buy the 1tb to make sure it’s future proof for at least three to five years to come

Especially with High bit rate raw and 4k videos now
Better go for 1tb

My company cloud 4th just got full recently, it’s surprising how much data we capture nowadays
Side note : recent d850 Nikon for instance, every raw is 100mb 😱

Yeah man

That’s the thing I’m thinking

Sometimes may not have time to transfer out to external

And sometimes while editing one project then another client wants another project done then u have two projects running or what

This happened to me last week but wasn’t photos on lightroom
My MacBook Pro left 10gb Free space only that time

And external hard drive can be troublesome sometimes

Two weeks ago we shot on a7s2 for about three hours of rolling plus a6500 as B cam
Two Camera add up to more than 100gb

File size is very big now...

If worth is irrelevant then buy the more expensive one or the cheaper one. Better yet get 2 for redundancy because your work is time sensitive and onsite. The older MBPRs excel at this as they’re swappable. Not so for the current batch.

This, very important one indeed. Especially when you have clips in comps and comps in comps, repeat ad nauseam. The extra ram helps a lot with the workflow. And preview to ram is also a lot faster and longer.

My video editing hackintosh had 16GB back in 2011. Never regretted the extra ram.

Provided it is using Final Cut Pro x. If premier sure different story, adobe software is poorly optimised for hardware.

Just want to quote you again. Thanks very much for the hint. After looking through my old messages, it turns out that I've bought from Janice way back in 2013 but have totally forgot about it. But this time I didn't buy from him.

New toy. MBP 13" 3.1GHz 8/512.
user posted image

I did some price checks before I bought. Here are the results in case anyone is interested. I was planning to claim GST through the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS). In the end, it wasn't necessary. I'm now quite familiar with TRS so if you have any questions, you can ask me.

Apple Online K-12: 8449
Machines: 8899 less GST 8365.06
Aeon Big: 8899 less 5% 8454 less GST 7946.81
LYN: 7900-7999

Best prices (if no GST TRS)
Machines: 8899
Aeon Big: 8899 less 5% 8454
Apple Online K-12: 8449
LYN: 7900-7999

*K-12 requires tertiary student ID
*Aeon Big 5% is valid on 28th of the month.

If for work, just pick the top spec. Your work soon can cover back your equipment and expenses, but lousy equipments will not cover back your work reputation.

2 things in mind, focus on higher ram and graphic card. Graphic card now can be omitted with the eGPU. Look at below link, sadly it's not official support in Malaysia but soon I believe here will have. Or you can get 3rd party eGPU or lazada store, it would work as well. For now, macbook or laptop can be as powerful as desktop, thanks to eGPU, of course you need extra money whistling.gif

the two option come with same 512gb and 4gb graphic card, just the processor different.
I think will get the low spec and upgrade ssd and graphic card,so the extra money can buy dongle hub sweat.gif

Need some help here.

I setup my new MBP 13" with user mememe. Then use migration assistant to transfer everything from my old MBPR, user here is soonwai.

Everything went OK. I can use my new MacBook with user soonwai.

But I cannot delete the user mememe.

System Prefs/Users is unlocked. Logged in as soonwai. Both soonwai & mememe are admin users. The minus button is greyed out for user mememe.

Any ideas?
