Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked, but I just can't find any thread on this.

1) How's the performance of the MacBook Pro 13 with virtual desktop for windows?
2) Especially the touch bar, how would it work when I'm in virtual desktop?

I'm thinking of purchasing the MBP cos I got subsidy from my company, and the requirement is that it can run virtual desktop, plus my work relies heavily on MS Visio.

Personally, I am using MBP 13 2011, and iMac 27 2011 as I like to take/edit photos and videos. since got subsidy, might as well get new Mac instead of Surface Pro or other Dell laptops.

Cheers

I'm specifically asking about MBP 13" Touch Bar Entry Level model, cos the subsidy ain't much LOL

Hey guys... Is my 2012 15" rMBP still eligible for a screen replacement due to the anti-reflective coating chipping off issue?

As per the link below.. Has anyone in Malaysia done so?

Responses looks encouraging in this page

Hi, As per your questions, i am using the 16gb ram version of the macbook pro touchbar and one of my friend is using the base model with touchbar.
We both are engineering students and we do rely a lot on MS Visio.
Thus,

1) It depends. If youre using MS Visio then it would be fine. Theres a difference in 8gb and 16gb if the diagram in Visio is too complicated but its not much.
We prefer better using bootcamp. But if youre using Parallels, then dont use the coherence mode. It will just make visio a bit more slower.
Light gaming such as Overwatch can also be done in visual desktop but then its night and day when comparing it to Bootcamp.
Battery life is also quite bad on virtual desktop. U can get 50-60% of the total battery life compared to being on MacOS

2) Theres no special feature on the touchbar when using virtual desktop. Its just the normal function keys in virtual desktop.

Thats all i got, im not a heavy virtual desktop user. hope it helps

My company uses the Microsoft Desktop Virtualization.. so it's basically cloud based OS (i guess?)

How do u draw in Visio? Using regular mouse, the trackpad or magic mouse?

Btw, thanks for your input!

Not sure bout your OS thingy.
But since u ask bout the mouse, thats an important point i forgot to talk about.
In bootcamp it quite hard to draw because of the resolution of the screen thingy. A normal wireless mouse is considered to be unusable for me. Trackpad works fine. Magic mouse is considered to be like normal mouse in bootcamp so its not that good as well.

But in virtual machine, since everything is running on MacOS itself. Using a normal mouse is okay. Magic mouse is also okay. And the trackpad is perfect just its quite hard to use visio using track pad la haha. But i usually do my drawing using a bluetooth mouse on MacOS running a virtual desktop.

Cool! It's a virtual machine.. using Citrix.. my biggest worry is about the mouse and how magic mouse would work with visio.. lol

So u think this specs enough to run the VM and some apps at the same time?
2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
8GB 2133MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based SSD1

Dont wanna upgrade cos wanna save some money for dongles hahaha

I've ordered mine with touchbar and should arrive this thursday.

one of the feature i'll surely miss from my current MBP would be the awesome Magsafe. Saved me couple of times already.

Anyone used this? any feedback?

This model is selling in Machines but it can only support the MacBook 12 and 2016 MacBook Pro 13" only apparently.

There is a new model coming out soon that will have support for the 2016 MacBook Pro 15" which has much higher power draw, and I'm planning to get that.

Cant promise anything bout that since ive never used Citrix. But as for me, that spec can run windows 10 and macOS at the same time using parallels desktop. Should be fine. Maybe a few lag here and there but for me thats not an issue. Dont know bout u hahah.

Ive installed windows 10 to play overwatch and some other games. It works fine. It works like any other windows laptop with the same spec. Just battery drains a bit faster than staying in MacOS. Drivers were all good thus no hardware issue detected so far. Thats all i can say bout it
