If you don't want to read a wall of text just read this next 2 paragraph ;😉

-General rule for laptop gaming is to get THE BEST graphic card you can afford. Because you just can't upgrade the graphic card anymore.

-So if you can COMFORTABLY get the illegear then by all means buy it. You will happily gaming at full settings for at least 3 years. But 1060 is still the best bang for buck so you can save RM1300 and still get a good gaming experience.

That said, to truly justify the investment I would recommend you to just max out Nvidia quality settings in the driver level since you are limited to 1080p only. Unless an unoptimzed game you like comes along of course.
4k is really not required, windows is not fully optimized for 4k support yet (those teenie-tiny UI man, they can fix the icon but not the 'minimize size' and the font size, at least the popular programs are supported though)

Here's the performance video so you can judge.

1070 max q;

THIS.

Value is extremely relative, IMHO, and unfortunately only you can say if the nearly 1k "upgrade" to an underclocked 1070 is "worth it". BUT, what you decide to get is ALL YOU'RE GONNA GET... considering the S5X has a soldered GPU AND no TB3 port.

That said, if mobility isn't important to you, then the "normal" S5 non-X + full non-maxQ 1070 is arguably the better choice. It isn't really THAT much bigger (or pricer) then the S5X and yet clocks a solid 20-40% faster graphics performance.

Similarly, the Laguna, when specced with the 1070.

Or y'know, the Alien 15 with the same card... though Aliens have become quite huge ass bulky this last few gens IMHO, you really can't fault Dell's warranty options and implementation. They're still UNDISPUTEDLY the best in the warranty game, especially when you go full Premium.

TBH though, you guys who haven't already really need some actual physical face time with the S5X/Clevo P950. It's no Aero 15X, but it's STILL the FIRST Clevo that doesn't actually FEEL like a Clevo, at least to me... and that says a lot.

You did indicate maxq lower clock speed lower heat lower consumption and you clearly asking it as advantage and worth 1300 or not .
Nope . Any gpu will do the same . No point buying maxq . It is just a rebrand of old m gpu .

To be fair, you should know that the 1060 on the 7577 is a MaxQ unit too, not a "full" 1060. It's of course faster than the 1050ti but it still loses (by a hair, not much TBH) to the "full" 1060.

But otherwise, the 7577 is a good unit (if not a bit heavy in my books) . Missing a subwoofer vs the outgoing model but the old sub wasn't all that great anyway (and in its place is a bigger battery, hurrah). The best (probably most well known) improvement would be that the 7577's IPS screen is better then the old one's crappy TN (not to say there aren't good TN units, but the old Inspiron 7567 screen was a special kind of crappy).

Also, beware of non-authorised Dell sellers on Lazada (or anywhere else that isn't a Dell dealer or the actual Dell site). They might be selling outlet units or worse, refurbished.

shirogawawa Please elaborate in regards to Dell warranty for purchases through non-authorised sales channels?

If it's a authorised dealer then no problem ler.
