Hi there. Thx for your suggestion. I suppose it will be better for me to take quantum if i frequently deal with the merchants not participate in the ZIIP program. Is that right?
*
it makes no difference since both are from same bank.
one added advantage is you can easily do a balance transfer from other bank into PBB card with up to 6 months ZIIP.

You can consider PBB VS. Use the online cashback to contra the CC transaction fee.

Hi All,

Will be moving to Malaysia in a couple of months.

Have browsed through the various bank/credit card sites but would like to also hear from users.
Not only am I looking to sign up for CCs, but I also need to sign up for some personal bank savings accounts. I do a lot of transactions/payments online so for me a good APP/web interface is important too.
From what I understand, CIMB has the best app interface - let me know if I am wrong.

Anyway, in regards to the CCs, here are my details:

1. Annual Income: RM500k+

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No.

3. Card required for: List all your needs. AirMiles, Lounge Access, Overseas Transactions

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil (in Msia).

5. Interested in CC from: Suggestions please!

6. Others: I am a foreigner. I would like to be able to track expenses on CC via App. Don't care much about cashback as in many cases they are capped.

Thanks everyone!
*
If you will, let us know your spending patterns (categories of transactions you will spend on, ie. Online, Utilities, Departmental, Groceries, etc) and estimated annual amount of spending. It will help to determine which card to recommend.

And No,CIMB app is not the best app. smile.gif

I would say I use the CC mostly for travel related purposes.

Flight bookings, hotel bookings, car rental etc all overseas spent.
Where I spend on the card locally is 80% just on dining. (But even then I mostly use my debit card for that).

Annual spent would be around RM120-150k (of which the 80% would be overseas).

Groceries, Utilities, fuel etc I normally go for my debit card.
*
For annual spending above RM108k, I would recommend the general purpose Hong Leong Bank Fortune car --> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2161445

If you are one of those who would like to explore the benefits of each card benefits, a few to recommend, but it might be tedious to apply from the respective banks:

- Plaza Premium Lounge free access (Ambank WMC/Infinite) --怉Ambankhttps://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3993469
- Dining (Public Bank Visa Signature and Quantum duo cards) --怉Public Bankhttps://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4251865
- Online expenses (Public Bank Visa Signature and Quantum duo cards)

I'll stop here, since you may not be interested in getting so many cards.

3. Card required for:  Don't know.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None.

5. Interested in CC from: Maybank

6. Others: I don't have a car, just a bike. So petrol might just be around RM100 - RM200 monthly. Never needed a credit card so far, just thought I should have it just in case.
*
since you have no particular requirements, you can have any card from any bank.
but if maybank is concerned, visa signature is quite a good card - just that you will need to pay annual fee.

Question regarding cashback cards.

I've gotten CIMB petronas platinum mastercard and been using it for groceries, petrol etc.

I realised that CIMB cash back platinum card is more worth it because of the higher cash back %.

Should I consider getting a 2nd card that is the CIMB cashback platinum card or wiser to keep and only use the Petronas card?

I always pay my card on time, so it's just for the cash back benefits, I'm considering.
1. Annual Income: RM24K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must .

3. Card required for: List all your needs. Cash Back/ Rebates

4. Existing credit cards (if any): CIMB Petronas Platinum

5. Interested in CC from: CIMB

6. Others: Malaysian. Young Working adult (<5 years working). Always clear CC on time, no incurred finance charges.
*
You can try to request for card change from Petronas Platinum to Cash Rebates.

Scared bank reject only sweat.gif

Too many credit cards laugh.gif
*
actually bank doesn't reject based on number of cards, but rather based on your commitment amount.

getting 1 card entitles you x amount of credit limit.
getting both cards, if sharing the same credit limit, there is no increase in your commitment.

does that make sense?

hmm.gif I see. Meaning if I have multiple cards but most of them have low utilization (approx 10% per card, since i clear payments monthly except those installments which utilizes the credit limit but only can pay monthly).

This utilization is what they're considering (as part of) the evaluation criterion right?

In that sense will consider both Ambank cards (vs the previous retail cashback options) and see which should I go with. Tempted to go with Miles card since that'll give me pretty good coverage overseas (which the spending is in adhoc spikes)
*
NOT the utilization, but the assigned credit limit. i.e. approved 30K limit, but only used 3K. Your total commitment is still 30k.

and it's not max 2 cards, but max 2 card issuers / credit lines.

Yes. I applied for Citibank Simplicity. But one question I wanna ask u guys, I already have Maybank 2 cards, HSBC Visa Platinum & Amanah, CIMB Visa Platinum & Enrich Platinum Master. So does the bank still approve my Citibank? The reason I applied this few banks is cause of their different benefits. But my usage is more on HSBC because of 12 swipe per annual in order to get annual fee free but the rest CC I have is free for life.
