1. Annual Income: >100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Must

3. Card required for: Cash Back for Online, eWallet, Groceries, Retail, Dining and Bills. Don't care about points, lounge or air miles.

4. Existing credit cards: Maybank 2 Amex (for weekend where applicable), Affin Duo (for online, autobilling, ewallet) and PB Visa Signature (used to be online and groceries, now require >100 per transaction, will cancel soon)

5. Interested in CC from: Any. Been eyeing Public Islamic MasterCard Platinum to replace PB Visa Signature.

6. Others: No tiered spending. Cashback 2% or more preferred.
*
Public Islamic Visa Platinum gives you cash back for eWallet reload too without tiered spending.

Maybank Ikhwan Amex is good got cash back too.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: yes or waivable

3. Card required for: grocery, shopping, easy installment

4. Existing credit cards (if any): none

5. Interested in CC from: any (maybe leaning towards MBB since I have savings account in MBB and most of my transactions are done in MBB)

6. Others: I am applying for a cc just for emergency usage for now
*
Maybank 2 Cards Gold/Platinum Amex (5% cashback for weekend spending). Good for groceries, petrol, shopping but the caveat is the merchant needs to accept Amex.

It depends on your spending habit. If mostly online, Affin Duo is a good shout. PBB Islamic Visa/Mastercard Platinum is not bad too.

Reasons:
1. 4% cashback no min spend (capped RM30)
2. 2x lounge access
3. Annual fee waivable (if met 12x swipes a year)

This card should be e-wallet friendly. Others can confirm on this?

Other cards can consider:
1. Maybank Islamic AMEX Platinum: 8% cashback for online spend (but not for ewallet topup)
1. Affin Duo
*
Yes it is ewallet friendly.

Hi sifu. Is it recommended to apply cc online via ringgitplus? Or can you guys recommend any other option for online?
*
Yes the other option is comparehero. But I use Ringgitplus more frequently. Look out for their NTB campaigns too!

Which are the better maybank cards that give the best in rewards (cb or treat points)? Want to take advantage of the fpp.
*
In terms of cashback, Maybank 2 Card Amex gives you 5% cashback on weekend transactions. The catch is that the merchant needs to accept Amex.

For treat points, I would say it is still Maybank 2 Card Premier although it has undergone devaluation of points a year back.

Get MY cc if your spending is mostly in Malaysia. Banks in MY do accept SG pay slip as part of the cc application.

need recommendation for credit card that gives cash back on spending on anything or almost everything.

using mbb barcelona now, thinking to get another cc that got similar benefit as this card.
note:
- also using various cash back cc
- just need a cc that replace mbb barcelona
*
MBB Amex Platinum
MBB Ikhwan Amex
Affin Duo
PBB Islamic Visa Platinum

These are the ones that I can think of on top of my head. Of course they don't offer cashback on everything. Most likely you will have to plan your spending across different cards to maximize cashback.

QUOTE(Whit @ Dec 24 2023, 05:13 PM)
Hi all Sifus, I recently bought a condo unit and moving back to stay in JB while still working in SG (work is hybrid mode). I’m a 29 yo single lady, without a car, income sgd 3k+, I’m generally a low spender if not counting vacation expenses, attaching the average spending habit record in sgd

The only card I’m holding now is PBB quantum visa, but gonna replace this since the cb has nerfed to 2%.

While still waiting to get the unit key, but I’m imagining my expenses will be as such, seek your kind recommendation of cards for 2 periods, preferably cashback card (as I find it hard to accumulate to a certain mileage to redeem before it expire in my 6 years renting room in sg life):

1) renovation period (is it possible to chiong mileage for this and maybe after reno can get a free flight ticket? Haha): renovation fee, household products, furniture etc

Also will I get cashback/miles by doing zero interest instalment for those?

2) after renovation:
a) Fixed expenses: F&B (hawker with tng/restaurant), grocery, transport like Grab, WiFi, utilities bill, telco, term life insurance (premium is low), rm300 condo maintenance, Invisalign/dental, etc
b) occasional expenses: shopping (I shop online mostly), flight ticket, hotel, movie

Assuming that you will be purchasing most of your stuff online, you can take a look at PBB Islamic Visa Platinum and AFFIN Duo that gives cashback on online purchases.

Alternatively, you can also check out MBB Amex 2 Cards that gives out 5% cashback on weekend spending.

One of the better cards in the market for miles collection. Good also for airport lounge access and free airport limo ride from KLIA.

Hi all, need some recommendation.

I am currently already using:
1. Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card (almost maxing my cashback of RM60 per month with min spending of RM2,500 per month)
2. HSBC credit card that doesn't give cash back (I will be cancelling this CC soon), last time applied and got RM600 in TnG.

For me, i spend almost at least 5k per month with some months going up to 12k or even 15k on certain months (rarely), but let's just say my min spending is about 5k per month for various transaction.

Can you recommend me another credit card with pretty good cash back? I mean low hanging fruit type that I could easily get some cash back, I'm thinking the UOB one card or something (previously the Citi card).

Any comment?
*
Can you list out your spending pattern so that we can suggest the best card for you?

MBB Ikhwan Amex - 8% cashback for online shopping capped at RM50 a month. You can use this for shopping at Lazada or Shopee as they accept amex.
PBB Islamic Visa Platinum - 4% cashback for online shopping (including ewallet top up) capped at RM30 a month.
Affin Duo - 3% cashback on online/ewallet reloads.
MBB Amex 2 Card - 5% weekend cashback. Saw that you do groceries. Just plan your grocery shopping during weekends. Most big supermarket chains accept Amex. Petrol station same case. Pick one that do accept Amex.

hi. currently considering cutting down on some unused credit cards.

MBB: Limit wise consider lower than other banks below:
1. Maybank Visa Infinite - Main usage and wife using it as daily too.
2. Maybank 2 Card Platinum - Rarely use (MBB just issue and since AF is free i keep only)
3. Maybank FC Barcelona - Issued with House loan last time. (FREE AF)

Alliance: So far happy with the service and CS also helpful. Credit limit also good
4. Alliance VI - Use for TNG e-wallet other than that is infinite and their lounge benefit is quite ok for this level.  Need to 12k pa for waiver so far can hit.
5. HSBC Visa Signature - For auto billing - AF yearly HSBC waive for me...no issue auto and limit the give also good

UOB: Been keeping this since the limit is highest
6. UOB One Card - My 1st card fresh grad until now....AF so far they waive for me
7. UOB PRIV MILES ELITE (former Citi Premier miles) - No using but not so sure the benefit about the card - Some say the miles not bad.
8. UOB World - (former Citi Rewards) - Initially want to cut but UOB offered cash rebate so just retain only.

9. Standard Charted JOURNEY (High credit limit) - Miles and nothing much. AF so far still waived for me.

Out of the cards, i still thinking of cutting off to at least save some SST RM25  sweat.gif

Can share which one not really popular and can cut off?  hmm.gif

Pefer to have at 3-4 cards only. With Lounge benefit and good ones.
*
MBB cards don't give out SST waiver. For me, I'll cut the Maybank Visa Infinite and Maybank FC Barcelona as the benefit is just not attractive.

UOB is okay with waivers so I will keep their cards. UOB Prvi Miles Elite is one of the better cards for miles collection.

SC Journey. Not good for miles. Only thing good about this card is the airport lounge benefit. If you don't travel often, suggest to cancel the card too.
