@underscore_lee

The normal Maybank AMEX is generally a cash back card, not to collect points.

Their Maybank Islamic Ikhwan AMEX is getting an upgrade next month, worth your consideration:

If I apply this card now, once the new benefit is in place, I will get it right? As this is not a new card, just a revision of benefit of the existing card.

1. Annual Income: RM92k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee:  Preferable free or waivable. Or not too expensive per year (<200)

3. Card required for: Cashback (Groceries/Retails, Petrol, Utilities, E-wallet, online shopping and dining) (CC that commonly support 36 months installment is preferred), Insurances, Airmiles (If got lounge benefits better).

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Been long time Maybank 2 Gold cards user. Plan to change for better reward.

5. Interested in CC from: Maybank is preferred due to existing TREATS points accumulated, or any card that support apple pay also will do (lazy to bring out card from wallet) [i.e Ambank / HSBC / Maybank / Standard Chartered].

6. Others: Looking to get better cashback epecially together with ewallet usage (TnG, Boost, Grab Pay).

Thank you in advance for your recommendation.
*
AFFIN duo is probably your best bet. For groceries just use your Maybank Amex that gives you 5% on weekends.

Looking for new option for cash back card since today only noted PB Quantum card had change the criteria for cash back cry.gif  cry.gif

1. Annual Income: >RM150K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: waivable would be the best

3. Card required for: E-wallet (for paying all my bill and PTPTN) and online transaction

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
- Maybank 2 card - for all purchase on Sat & Sun with AMEX
- Maybank Islamic Petronas Platinum - for grocery and petrol on Fri and Sat
- UOB Yolo - for e-wallet (too bad capped RM15 cash back per month)
- PB Quantum - planning to abandoned it since all cash back must more than RM100 per transaction

5. Interested in CC from: up to suggestion

6. Others: I want cash back only, not into reward points or airport lounge.
*
PB Visa Signature - Have min spend of RM100 per trx to get 3% cash back
Affin Duo - Best for ewallet top up

Both the suggested cards are reward point based. Only the Affin Duo Visa is cash rebate but only applicable for online transaction & ewallet reload.

Maybank 2 Card Amex has 5% cashback on weekends. You can plan your grocery and petrol trips around weekends to take advantage of the cashback.

Are you refer to Maybank 2 Platinum Cards? If yes, minimum yearly income is RM60K.

However.
Is Amex card widely accepted by retail merchant?
Can request for SST waiver by calling the CS?
*
I believe you can opt for the Maybank 2 Gold Cards, where the min yearly income is RM30k.

Amex card is accepted by most major supermarkets (i.e. Aeon, Tesco, Jaya Grocer etc). As for petrol station, I usually go to Petron as they accept Amex card at the pump.

As for SST waiver, no. MBB do not offer SST waiver. Not sure for new to bank customers though.

Please advise if any of these cards i should cancel as well.

Thank you

Check out CIMB Travel World Elite. They are running a program now that gives 10x points for every RM1 spent, which translates to RM1 = 1 Mile.

1. Annual Income: RM60K to RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: If possible, if not, can swipe 12x to get rebate also fine.

3. Card required for: General purchases (groceries, dining, retail purchases, utilities, medical etc.) and e-wallet topup (TNG ewallet and Shopeepay)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Gold Amex and PB Visa Signature

5. Interested in CC from: Any bank is fine as long I can maximise cashback.

6. Others: Been using Maybank 2 Gold Amex and PBVS for ages (Malaysian). Mostly Amex for purchases on weekend (groceries, utilities, dining etc.) and PBVS for purchases over RM100 to maximise cashback (now usely for topup TNG). Both Amex and PBVS currently maxed out every month. Now looking for CC which can help with another RM1-2k purchases per month to maximise CB. Looking for e-wallet topup (TNG or Shopeepay) to maximise CB.

Also, I just recently returned back to corporate work (previously was doing freelancing for few years hence didnt apply any new CC).
Does applying for CC now require 3 month payslip or EPF statement for approval like buying car or more loose restrictions?

Thank you in advance.

Im looking for a credit card that can give me higher credit limit by 3-8x of my monthly income.

I cant decide between Ambank Infinite and Hong Leong Infinite, which one should I pick?

Or is there other credit card you guys can recommend?

Annual Income: 150k-200k
Current: Maybank Platinum Visa and Amex
Prefer annual fee waived forever

Maybank refused to increase my credit limit so Im searching for elsewhere
*
Before Citibank got bought over, they gave me the highest credit limit amongst all my other cards. Not sure about them now.

Most of the cc out there don't give cashback for insurance, hospital, dental. Furthermore, nowadays 1% is considered good already given that you don't need to hit any minimum amount per month to be entitled with the cashback.
*
Affin Duo gives cashback for GE.

While for hospital or dental, I usually use my Amex (if you just happen to be there during the weekends, you are still entitled to the 5% cashback). I believe you can schedule your dental appointments around weekend, at least that is what I have been doing.

Hi both cmxPIE tkokweng

For Malaysian working in SG, will become non tax resident in Malaysia right, still eligible to apply for CC ah?
*
Yes you can. You just have to provide your pay slip like how you normally do when you apply for credit card. However, each bank will have a different formula when converting your SG salary into MYR terms.

I have a relative that managed to apply for credit card with lower salary requirement despite having a salary that is way higher.

3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate for Others Spend

4. Existing credit cards (if any): MBB FC Barcelona, MBB 2 Amex, PBB VS, Citi Cashback, HSBC Visa Signature

5. Interested in CC from: ?

6. Others: Wish to cancel some existing cards, reduce the number, less headache. Understand there is no 1 card for all, many premier cards are collect points.
Cancelled MBB VS, Amex, CIMB VI / Cash Rebate / Petronas , SCB WorldMiles, RHB VS, HSBC Amanah, HLB Essential..........
Many banks keep changing the rules........ just to save RM50, assume 1% rebate from RM5,000 expenses.
Some need to hit RM2,500 or RM4,000 only eligible to get the high cash back.
While some need to hit example RM60,000 or RM80,000 annual in order to waive Annual Fees.
