Why use FPX for RM500 so many times ? If scammer/hacker, one transaction with instant transfer already can wipe up to RM30k or RM50K from a person's account.

This does not make sense to me

To avoid being flagged by the bank?
Or unusual activity 😊

Another case of Illegal withdrawals / transfer of eFD bruce.gif bangwall.gif

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/2024/10/03/...their-knowledge

QUOTE
An aquarium shop owner and her husband were shocked to find out that RM23,080 from their fixed deposit accounts had been transferred out without their knowledge or consent.

"We had two fixed deposits for our children's education in that bank, and that money was transferred to other parties. We had never used the money for any purpose as we were saving up for the children's education," said Ling, who added she was unsure whether it was stolen by hackers or if there was an internal issue with the bank, adding that she and her husband did not receive any one-time passwords (OTP) for the transactions, and had not clicked on any suspicious links.

"The bank told us that the transactions were done according to the proper procedure, as a device bind took place on Sept 8.

"Both our online login IDs, passwords, and security questions were verified. Due to this, the bank says they are not responsible for the losses and will not offer any compensation," she added.

And If the bank say not their problem, what can we do if this ever happened ?  Cry ? Blame it to bad luck ?

I feeling got some leaks in the banks...

Simply cannot target anyone without any help on pin point who got how much in the bank...

Banks already blocked the account & informed the couple about unusual transaction yet they says not taking responsibility of the losses... Got ground to take legal action against the bank...

i do not think this is an insider job.

more likely the previous smartphone had been compromised. Banking username and password and others details had been known by the hacker. This was due to the hp owner had downloaded a or some "interesting" apps and installed it.

There is a new device registered on 8th of sep and fd redeem on 9th sep.

case closed. money gone.
*
Well...
The bank did suspect of illegal withdrawal & call the couple... And suspended the account too...

So cannot be case close totally... So got ground of legal route...

Only if no action taken by bank side (no account suspended, no call to the couple... then it's no case)...

I think like that...
Let's see... How the internal investigation goes on...

One time I got a better FD rate from AmBank altho the rate was meant for a larger amount. The officer overlooked it, realised it later, after the cert was issued, but didn't retract the rate.
*
Lucky you 🙏

Most time, the staff would call you back & to surrender the cert... So they print the updated rates...

Whatever...

I read some interesting facts about PIDM today... Which also covers FD...

PIDM fund $$$ only got 6bil MYR & it's yearly income @ contribution from banks & others comes around 800mil MYR...

6bil $$$ to cover banks & insurances in case of bankruptcy??

Heck the smallest banks Alliance & Affin got like 50bil in deposit yo....

https://www.pbebank.com/pbe/rates-charges/fixed-deposit
PB eFixed Deposit 1 Month Tenure Rate: 2.10% p.a
- effective 10 October 2024.
PB eFixed Deposit 1 Month Tenure Rate: 2.30% p.a
- was applicable from 31 May 2024 till 9 October 2024.
Even though there is no change in Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) by Bank Negara Malaysia, somehow Public Bank reduces PB eFixed Deposit 1 Month Tenure Rate from 2.30% p.a, to 2.10% p.a.
It may give the impression that it may be one of many methods used by Public Bank to raise capital to acquire LPI Capital Bhd.
Anyhow, Public Bank customers who have fixed deposit accounts are on losing side.  sad.gif
*
Don't really think it's because of LPI...

More like PB sucks in FD rates offering.. Same like Maybank & Other big 5 banks...

And FD rates movement not solely based on OPR too... But it's combination of factors / indicator such as interbank rates too...

Seems like a down trend now

All banks reducing the rates...

So not surprising... But their rates still okay if compared with the top 5 banks 😁

btw, anyone has feedback on Public Bank new App? I think it sucks. Like redundant password and biometric validation over and over. Today i have added a new favorite DUITNOW transfer and PBB hold my money for 12 hours. Is this normal for PBB? Really jalat old Ah Pek Bank.
*
Personally it's one of the worse but strictest bank in Malaysia...

Always tag your transaction or added favorite as "suspecting or illegal transaction".. so always on hold..

Need to always call them to release your fund... And it's takes like 1 hour or 2 to clear up... Such hassle if you want to transfer ASAP...

And finally their FD rates is one of the worse in the market...
