Question re HLB eFD

I hv 2 matured yesterday. One auto renew (A) & other transfer to savings on maturity (B)

When I look at the savings account yesterday 10am, i saw the credit for B. So no problem

For A, in the FD screen I saw that it still show 10 jan 2018 as the maturity date ie not renewed to new FD yet. So i did withdrawal to my savings. I managed to get the full principal for A credited to savings - means system did no treat it as premature withdrawal, right?

Question is this - when does the FD screen show the new maturity date of the auto-renewal FD? I looked at it at 10am maturity day. Does the new maturity date show up later on the maturity date or the day after?

Lazy go over counter.
the branch near my house is quite congested last i remember.
I like hlb due to its frequent eFD promo.

i just put 2.8% temporary till promo out.

Last time for fpx promo (fresh fund) i usually transfer out to my other bank then re-transfer back as fresh fund haha.

1st u read as new customer only. now u say lazy to go otc. LOL i think subconsciously u dun wanna go for the promo rate lah ... good to listen to ur inner voice also - who knows got 4.5% round the corner LOL icon_rolleyes.gif

i asked in IBG instant transfer thread b4 but no response. hope dun mind I ask here

I just did another instant transfer from my hlb harvest account. This is the second time i do instant transfer where TAC not sent to me nor was it required. Press 'submit' ... straightaway say transfer successful. But when I do IBG , must wait for TAC & key in TAC to proceed.

I'm sure many of the folks here hv HLB account & likely have done instant transfers also. Question is whether this is normal? Isn't instant transfer more "dangerous"?

say i have existing FD matured in HLB, i withdraw and transfer out from HLB saving to some other bank.
then xfer back to HLB saving, walk to counter and placed this promo, can i do this?
*
I think can la. If me, I'll call them up first, then go to their counter & do instant transfer to my savings & show them how "fresh" ur fund is LOL

IBG & IBFT also to same acc? If not, the IBFT is it to favorite payee?
*
Yeah I instant transfer to fave payee but no need TAC. But I also have done IBG to same fav payee - need TAC.

That's why i'm perplexed

PS: fave payee in other bank eg HLB >> fave payee in PBB

Actually, i agree make it harder... inconvenience vs security.

And if bank say less than RMx no need TAC, then they are doing wrong thing imho. Materiality is relative .... what's small amount to A might be big amount to B.

In this case, instant transfer is instant... poooof & it's gone

Edit: in this case I trsfr to fave payee ... i dare not try with not fave payee hahaha

The weird thing about the so called contract is, the subject commodity is not even specified. ..just that it has been bought n sold. In the unlikely event of some unfortunate circumstances,  i just wonder where depositors stand in the scheme of things.

I am not too pleased that MBSB did not say a word on this arrangement at all when the placement was made.

Was told interest is haram. Profit sharing is halal. That's why the mention of buy/sell commodities

Riba is a concept in Islamic banking that refers to charged interest. It is forbidden under Sharia, Islamic religious law, because it is thought to be exploitive. Depending on the interpretation, riba may only refer to excessive interest; however to others, the whole concept of interest is riba, and thus is unlawful.

Finally, Bank Negara raised the overnight interest rate by 0.25%. (As I expected per my previous post)

Expect FD rate of 4.5%, 4.55% or even 4.6% to come back again!! Good luck.

so happy took up the the HLB 6mth 4.88% damansara city branch offer instead of going 12mths. Can move to new rates earlier !!!

As of now CIMB most progressive bank in my books . but not good enough because they up the board rates only. Quick quick up the promo rates devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif Which bank do you think will be first to give 4.55% for 12 mths? LOL

Saving into EPF is certainly one option for retirement, but my concern here are the poor returns on EPF. The asset management industry in Malaysia is very sub-par. You need to figure out your retirement old-age strategy, and that means

It is incorrect calculation. As I have said earlier you need to look at it from another angle. Assume you place the monthly repayment into saving account every month and earn the interest, you will find that you are losing out.
*
yes, that's the simple alternative strategy which is often under estimated

IF you have a SA which gives you ONLY 2%pa but interest credited monthly AND you save 1,393 monthly , you'll be surprised the future value will be about 1.4k more than the 86,401 from a 5 yr FD at that 4.x% rate calculated earlier.

If you put FD now @ 4.3%, you will get about the same effective yield compare to you wait 2 weeks time and put FD @ 4.5%. Provided that you can secure a 4.5% rate in 2 weeks time. Anything longer than 2 weeks time, your effective return will be lower than 4.3% FD placed today.

Anyone remember the 4.88% 6m HLB special last year? 3rd Nov, Page 209 of this thread smile.gif My records show that it's maturing 3 May next week & that it is a no-cert eFD.

Wondering what's my options for moving the money out to other banks. Do I have to uplift it online & trsfr to my savings account online? Of can I go to nearest branch & do over the counter? Banker's cheque possible?

Hope Ambank 4.4% masih ada next thursday tongue.gif
