Hi there guys !

I've heard from a friend that Affin is offering 4.15% FD rate PERMANENTLY which is a lot higher than their competitors

is there a catch to this ?
*
not permanent.

it's BOARD RATE, meaning not-promo limited to certain T&C.

just normal fd placement.

Affin Bank expects fixed deposits, margins to remain challenging in 2019
Tuesday, April 30th, 2019

https://themalaysianreserve.com/2019/04/30/...enging-in-2019/

Affin Bank Bhd expects its fixed deposits and margins coming under pressure this year as the central bank is expected to cut policy rates and new liquidity requirements.

Group CEO Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil (picture) said the impact of the expected cut by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) will be “neutral” for the bank.

“We have quite a large book in terms of our fixed assets and we are quite strong in terms of hire purchase and these will actually benefit us from any movement in terms of the interest rate,” he said after the bank’s AGM in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

BNM is expected to lower the lending rate when the Monetary Policy Committee meets next month. Any changes are based on the domestic economy and external developments. But such interest-rate cut will force lenders to adjust their base lending rates downwards, resulting in lower interest income.

AMBANK: Revision of Maturity Date for Fixed Deposits and Term Deposits
02 May 2019

Dear Valued Customers,

Please be advised that with effect from Friday, 12 April 2019, the policy for maturity date for all existing Fixed Deposits and Term Deposits for all states will follow the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur’s weekend and Public Holidays as well as State Holidays calendar i.e.:

All maturity dates that fall on a Saturday or Sunday for all states will be shifted to Monday or the next business day, if Monday is a Public or State Holiday in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

Example 1: if the Fixed Deposits/Term Deposits matures on 10 May 2019 (Friday which is a weekend for the states of Kelantan and Terengganu), the maturity date will remain unchanged i.e. 10 May 2019 as it is a working day in Kuala Lumpur.

All maturity dates that fall on a Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur’s Public or State Holiday, the maturity date will be shifted to the next business day, regardless of the states.

Example 1: if the Fixed Deposits/Term Deposits matures on 1 May 2019 (National Public Holiday), the maturity date will then be shifted to 2 May 2019, with the interest/profit to be paid up to 2 May 2019.
