QUOTE(hurtedheart @ Jun 25 2019, 01:15 PM)
Hi, can somebody please enlighten the following interest calculation?

1) RHB Bank 4% p.a @ 3 months. Placed RM 10,000.00 from 25 Mar - 25 June 2019.  Interest earned is RM 100.82. Looks like RHB calculate base on 92 days instead of 93 days?
Base on my understanding:
25 Mar - 31 Mar @ 7 days,
1 Apr - 30 Apr @ 30 days,
1 May - 31 May @ 31 days,
1 Jun - 25 June @ 25 days
Total 93 days.
Therefore interest earned =  RM 10,000 x 4% / 365 x 93 = RM 101.92
However, RHB payout = RM 10,000 x 4% / 365 x 92 = RM 100.82
If I uplift yesterday, I will earn no interest (as shown on the upliftment page), but why the calculation is not based on 93 days (inclusive of 25 June) but 92 days?

2) HLB 4% p.a @ 6 months. Placed RM 20,000.00 from 15 Dec 2018 - 15 June 2019. Interest earned is RM 398.90 . Totally no idea how to get the amount
Base on my understanding:
15 Dec - 31 Dec 2018 @ 17 days
1 Jan - 31 Jan 2019 @ 31 days
1 Feb - 28 Feb 2019 @ 28 days
1 Mar - 31 Mar 2019 @ 31 days
1 Apr - 30 Apr 2019 @ 30 days
1 May - 31 May 2019 @ 31 days
1 June - 15 June @ 15 days
Total 183 days
Therefore interest earned =  RM 20,000 x 4% / 365 x 183 = RM 401.10
However, HLB payout = RM 398.90 (no idea how to get this)

Thank you
*
maturity date is not counted.

from my calculations, both rhb's (92 days) and hlb's (182 days) are correct.

any other recomendation other than OCBC360 and SCB PSB, i just want a FD that give rate 4.xx and yet no need go to bank and do it
If need go to bank and do it, waste time and not worth the 0.1% or 0.2% since my amount is small
*
read back the list of promo FDs posted here many times as well.

omg, i need some advices.
i just perfrom FPX from Pbb to Hlb for FD placement.
The transaction failed shown in FPX page.

I then login to check my Pbb balance, it is transacted.
I then login Hlb, no new FD placed.

what should i do? call which party ?
*
when did this happen? how long has it been?

try check PBe again, see if the fund reversed back to your account.

contact hlb to dispute. hlb will check their own system --> then check with paynet (system provider for fpx).

by right, if failed, paynet will send an acnowledgement back to PBB that the fpx transfer failed, and fund is restored.

however, this may not happen immediately as paynet itself have been unreliable and slow in processing.

so is hlb problem? i will call hlb only tomorrow. today sunday should be no use even call
*
not necessary hlb's problem.

but the origination is from hlb, so you need to start from hlb.

hlb <-- fpx --> paynet <-- fpx --> pbb

i just done hlb efd...its mentioned accepted for processing however due to fpx's batch processing is not reflected in your account detail...pls come back and check 4 hours later...my other bank already deducted the amount...
is this normal...scary ehh...both account nowhere showing the money is...
*
normal

it goes from hlb <-> fpx/paynet <-> source banks

fpx is the middle-man. it triggers and getting response if the withdrawal from source bank is successful or fail. then fpx pass back the results back to hlb.

our expectation is near-instant, but most times, fpx is bogged down and taking longer time to get response back.

for your instance, hlb havent updated yet. probably heavy traffic on 7.7 and still queueing to update (success or fail). if somehow fail, the fund will be released back to the originating source bank.

Let’s say I save 10k in Affin 4.15% 13months.
Mean after 13months I will get RM459.03?
*
roughly RM451.38

since u get profits in 6-6-1 months, you'd get RM209.21 - RM206.93 - RM35.25

Wanna know...were you able to look for the FD rates on their website? I can't seem to know what's the rate they're offering from their website.  confused.gif

for promo, rarely published in website. usually promos are available over the counter, and sometimes branch by branch basis.
