Btw, to the sifu expert in >1 year FD placement as i have not done this before, i saw this T&C in HLB
i'm interested in placing 2 years FD, but if place 1.5 years then become kosong quite wasted. and there's no interest payment until maturity only. is this the norm for >1 year FD placement?
*
i guess even if paid half yearly or so and if u eithdraw premature, the paid interest will still be deducted from ur principal at the end?

Left some like BR and others no need app for >10k xfer. Looks like have to try the AffinSecure later once FD matured.
Yesterday xfer from BR >10k (no app needed) and placed in HL TIAi for 3 mths 2.35%.
*
i think hlb dont need app for 50k

those good days are in memory.. but it will come back again as part of the economic cycle...
*
ya of course but cycles are irregular. peaks and lows are uncertain. so i guess best to grab if there are obvious better promotions for any terms.

they still give 4.35 for 5 years at promo rate ?

Tot this banks all have clause for promo FD says if OPR go down....they reserved the right to revise their rates.
*
i think so except for the last month. this piece is 50k, were getting about ~184 per long month.
the final interest is like 165 dont know why may be february just too short πŸ˜‚

I'm actually surprised Tiger join the ring...
On getting serious with FD....
Normally... Since they top in the market... Don't bother...

I guessing there's some level of outflows to others bank FD... Thus they make some moves....
*
maybank does have good promo occasionally. dont think it is that rare.

General question out of curiosity - say you have a reasonable sum to place in FD, e.g., 100k, do you place one FD for 100k or multiple FDs, e.g., 50-50, 25-25-25-25 or even 10 x 10s? Just want to survey. I would probably do 4x25s, but there are times I wish I did 10x10s due to emergencies.
*
if efd and e-transfer, take daily transfer limit into account ya.

Only OTC
I open BSA with them for FD, doesn’t want to carry cash / cheque to place FD.. n also easier for monthly interest crediting.

Only con for BSA is without debit card, I can’t do online transfer out, can only view account online. N I withdraw the FD interest during branch visit.
*
Bank Rakyat dont have BSA with atm card? all my bsa with other banks have atm card. cimb, hlb, bi, pb, affin

*
i see. okok. it is different from all other banks then (afaik). my bsa with atm card also no fee, but limited withdrawal per month.

Public Bank BSA got two types. Depend on which one you opt too.

all banks WILL offer bsa without annual fee
https://www.bnm.gov.my/-/banking-institutio...current-account

3 years ago a friend of mine (fresh grad) went to public bank and i asked him to. insist on bsa without annual fee. but the banker psycho him saying haiya, just rm8 cannot pay meh. (pb)

few weeks ago i went to pb (another branch). my stern face yet amiable approach leave no room for that. 😁

anyway oot. haha. i think we shld stop here.

Yeah it is, but personally it's not an issue for me since most of my money are invested in higher risk vehicles anyway. Doesn't make sense to hoard too much cash beyond what I need for the short term, just a food for thought since it's good to invest when markets are still quite down
*
bank shares are near all time high. still quite down? 🀨

just now go Ambank branch ask about basic saving acct. got NonFee basic saving acct, but got yearly charge for ATM card which is rm10. I think so far only ambank charging even if it is nonfee basic saving acct.

i didnt open the acct though. waiting for affin, public, BI, cimb, hlb which i have the genuine basic saving acct without annual charge. public tba, just open months ago so not validated. 😁
