Next day can transfer out the 10k. Not immediately.

Understand. Ambank's other ongoing offer bundles FD and CASA deposits with equal lock in periods, e.g. https://www.ambank.com.my/eng/promotions-pa...Bundle-Campaign , where the nett rate is up to 4.37% for a 12-month placement.

That's why having a requirement to open a CASA which can be withdrawn the next day is interesting.

For both promotions, I don't understand why Ambank even bothers, unless they have a KPI based on number of new accounts opened, or to improve their CASA Ratio.

Versa claimed to give promotional 4% on first 30k, but in APP they still show your return is 2.75% only. hmm.gif

If you calculate yourself end of month it is 4%.

Why they seem oblivious to their own APP not showing correct rate of return? How do they instill confident for depositors/investors like this?  sweat.gif
*
the current value shown in the app is also reflecting 4%, but only after their bonus payout. It works like unit trusts, it's not on a daily basis but monthly for Versa, and fortnightly for the underlying AHAM fund.

PBI is open to public. BR needs premier banking or PB-equivalent deposit plus approval for the rate, if not mistaken.

Thanks for the table. Most useful.

I went to PBB to place a FD and was surprised that they do not offer monthly interest. I was also surprised that they still issue FD certificates that have to be presented at maturity for FD uplift, which to me is an archaic system that should be done away with.

It would be helpful if you could indicate banks that do not give monthly interest for FDs with terms of 12 months and above, as well as those which still issue FD certificates that have to be presented at maturity. The former is especially useful as a 12m FD @4.3% that pays interest on maturity has a different effective interest rate from a 12m FD @4.3% that pays interest monthly.
*
Most banks pay 6-monthly if it's more than 12-months tenure.

QUOTE(Danhost @ Jan 12 2023, 09:29 AM)
PBB will require full 2 years maturity only will releasing the full interests, if we calculated by annual effective interest paid, theirs is 4.6%
*
PBB pays 6-monthly for 18 and 24-months tenure based on their website T&C. Anyway, below comment said there's no compounding difference, but always happy to see forumers share personal experiences and actual data for others to learn from.

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jan 4 2023, 11:26 AM)
no compounding interest, no difference

if you put a significant sum as principal, monthly/6month interest can be substantial (eg >RM10k), of which you can reinvest again (in FD or others)

or for simple folks, good for a meal  biggrin.gif

Anyone not PB managed to get this FD rate?

I'm seeing the same promo quoted recently in three other FB groups discussing FDs

QUOTE(magika @ Jan 9 2023, 01:38 PM)
Went to Ambank near me, staff there say no promo. Call another branch, staff say promo for priority customer only. Reaffirmed that not all branches have same promo.
*
QUOTE(chicaman @ Jan 9 2023, 02:13 PM)
Go for Ambank 2 months @ 4% first by the time it expires, u still have time for 4.8% for PBB Islamic.

See if there are any more OPR revision within this quarter or not. Possibly there will be better rate from PBB later since they have been so aggressive for the past half year.

QUOTE(tradingGo @ Jan 9 2023, 02:14 PM)
Just got back from Ambank.
The staff said 2m, 6m and 12m are all for priority customers only.

QUOTE(magika @ Jan 9 2023, 02:28 PM)
Went to Ambank, the RM blur blur abt promo rate. Ambank saving account does not discriminate between normal saving account vs priority account but maybe  diff is got RM to entertain.

MBSB 5 years 4.7 pre MCO looks like a joke now

That's a good rate considering the competition over that time period. First 3 years+ you untung a lot already, maybe now last 18 months to go consider it a 18 month FD at 4.7%.. also a very good deal.

cause i am hearing that some bank offer like 4.3% to 4.5% for 1 year if you are priority / premium
just feel a little unfair for ppl like me who is a M40 with little saving and cant enjoy high interest
*
It's a business. Nothing unfair about it. You give the bank a lot more business, you're going to be treated with a bit more perks. That's why we have business class, VIP tiers, etc.

That's quick. Wasn't it supposed to run until end Feb (or until they hit their target...)?

my own experience, hlb tia honors the rate till maturity.
*
Usually what this means is.. they say you'll get up to 4%.. then they get 5.2%... they happily pay you the 4%...

Else like the CIMB case, they missed the target, so they only pay out the actual %...

You bear the risk of lower returns.. the bank gains all the upside...
