That is the highest rate in the market for 6 months. I always thot that Banks' auto-renewal policy/system is to renew at the board rate at the time of renewal. The renewal condition is sometimes printed on the FD receipt/advice of deposit.

It is also a bit puzzling that there isn't such a promo rate that we are aware of.

I wonder, did MBSB manually renew for you using a "special" rate?

And can we also get this 4.25% rate if we make a fresh placement now?

Those who did not specify autorenewal will presumably not be able to get the same 4.25% rate by requesting for it OTC on the maturity date, since the promo rate is much lower?

MBSB is reversing the banking practice, where fresh funds are given better rates than renewal funds. Honestly don't what to make out of their practice.

IMO, doubt that BNM will hike again so soon, even if FED hikes, as they don't follow FED so closely. BNM's last hike was already a surprise to the market, reckon they will wait to see the effects of their hikes and more data first.

China isn't hiking, thinking of easing.

But who knows, if local inflation gets worse, or if Ringgit gets much worse...
