Just placed one fd at muamalat satok branch n was asked to participate in lucky draw n won a tefal blender! The lucky draw seemed to be sure win one as I glanced got about 4 big prizes beside a big jar with about 4 ping-pong balls for u to draw. Not sure if the lucky draw is for every depositor or they picked me because I complained about their service before 😅  I placed rm80k for the 3m 4% promo btw n they even asked me to come back for another deposit n another draw tomorrow! 😆

*
Congrats.... me super envy too. My deposits many times bigger than yours and I only get a golf net (or similar) from bank islam, 2023 table calendar from public bank and one painting from citibank (with uob logo). At least your tefal blender is useful...

I mean who is going to put on a painting on a wall with UOB logo? I don't know what the UOB people thinking... faint.

4.8% is the highest rate so far
but surprisingly no one going for it......?
*
I just came back from holiday and saw this. I just placed on 23rd Dec 2022, now I am asking PB people if I can take out and place it tomorrow 24 months at 4.8%. They just change... getting money to buy Hong Leong?

QUOTE(BSC2018 @ Jan 4 2023, 12:16 PM)
PB acct opening is very troublesome. Need to wait at least a week to let HQ verify. What the hell. Wast people's time only !
*
When I opened the account back in Nov, also needed HQ approval. But I just told the assistant manager to just call HQ to approve on the spot. They approved within 1 hour I think.

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Jan 4 2023, 09:56 PM)

PBB got campaign now, 300k FD get cutlery set. 1 M FD a better set.
referral reward RM400 for recruiting new gold RCB and RM800 for elite
*
Is this Cutlery set branch specific or because you are big customer? Any link I can show to branch manager? I find it shameful PBB doesn't give me any gift...

QUOTE(Save N Earn @ Jan 4 2023, 09:59 PM)
Mind to share your view on decision to place the 24-month Fd with PBB since now most people want short term only?
*
I just place what's highest. Previously I tried put into shorter durations, but it doesn't work out that well. Now at 4.8% even higher than my Sabah Bank Bond returns...

i heard is till their stocks finish..i told them keep 2 sets for me

your earlier PBB FD  was it the 4.5% 18 month?
Are you going for their RCB referral campaign?
it just come in hand in hand, going to put FD amount exceed the RCB requirements
might as well take  the campaign offer also..
they promote other products  offer much nicer gifts i said no i only want FD 4.8%
*
So this offer is branch specific and not shown online? Because I need to check with the branch manager.

Nope, I don't have anyone to put for the RCB referral campaign. All FD in my name. Unless I can refer myself... lol. The branch I am going has no RCB and I don't see any advantage in it. Once FD up I will move.

So this promotion is Jan onwards? I don't see any promotion materials for it. Yes I placed some FDs 4.5% 18 months in Nov/Dec.

I think now most banks just wait for the OPR meeting next week plus after CNY. Let's see if 4.8% 24 months can be beaten... My Sabah bank bond which runs until 2024 only 4.4%... faint.

Also just got news PB RCB (priority banking), there's a welcome gift... 4 bowls....

Just as expected. Yours is the RCB welcome gift set. You only get it if you apply for RCB, that's what my branch told me and it was 4 bowls... I rejected.

QUOTE(GrumpyDiver @ Jan 12 2023, 08:46 AM)

I went to PBB to place a FD and was surprised that they do not offer monthly interest. I was also surprised that they still issue FD certificates that have to be presented at maturity for FD uplift, which to me is an archaic system that should be done away with.

*
Not only physical cert, if your amount is big you need to go back to the branch you place the FD to withdraw.

Next week another 2 FDs up, I guess now is still PB 24 months best option for me. Bank Rayat needs to go through account opening and approval which seem to be based on branch.

For those converting from Citibank to UOB, they give a 0.1% additional interest rate to their promo rate. But I think after that one year still 4.15%? not attractive...

4 bowls as gift is same like  cutlery set also, why reject?

Bank rakyat monthly interest is better, open account once only
*
I don't want too many bank accounts and still need approval. Is opening Bank Rakyat account troublesome? I might do it if it is not and can take cheque not needing it to clear to consider effective.

RCB needs maintaining, after 2 years I take out the money still need to close. Troublesome. Besides I don't need the priority queuing or cheque book or open that new account which I think need money. Key is I have too many bowls already... lol.

Public Bank. See my reply below.

Someone i know open rcb with pbb and received a la gourmet cutlery set.

Bank rakyat’s deal can match pbb’s 4.8% 2 years, plus monthly interest. Overall the best deal in town right now.
*
On RCB gifts, I just found out the bowls I mentioned earlier is actually from investment. And apparently all branches got different gifts. Some give only umbrella, some even give the XiaoMi weighing scale. I was in RCB center earlier and man, the service level so much better... even another auntie I met said the same thing. I guess I should have gone for RCB from the start, just pay the rm10 stamp duty. Oh well... we all learn something new.... On Bank Rayat, really depends on the branch. Some even blur and say no such policy/promotion.

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Jan 16 2023, 01:49 PM)
Visa Infinite credit card from Am Bank or CIMB.
Other banks may have this Visa Infinite, I know Hong Leong Bank does not have it.

My experience from CIMB, placed FD to become a priority customer, signed the form and provided an email address,
answered few questions on the form, no need to show proof of income, then received VISA Infinite credit card in about 2 weeks.
No need to deposit money into bank as pledge after FD matured.

Public Bank's FD Rates have become more competitive lately .. hmm.gif

*
My experience was exact opposite from CIMB. They require income documents (details all the way) and made life very difficult. Over the past 10 years or so I got rejected before by HSBC and CIMB. Finally got one last year.

Hmm... now for 12 months 4.4% highest? I think can put some 4.4% for shorter term cash flow...

(1) You apply Visa Infinite credit card only. But no sure is there any Master Infinite...?
(2) Place FD to become a priority customer
(3) Sign on application form, provide your email address, and answered only few questions on the form. No need to submit your proof of income.
(4) Receive your Visa Infinite credit card in few weeks (2 to 3 weeks).

Very easy and simple process
*
1. I applied the Preferred Visa Infinite. The one that now gives you improved lounge access world wide.
2. I am Preferred for many years.
3. Applied and yes no need to submit proof of income. But later someone email me for proof of documents etc.
4. I received maybe 1 to 2 months after I applied...

Well let's see. Not many FDs maturing in Jan and Feb as I scheduled my short term FDs to mature after the next meeting in March. Hopefully some good news then.
*
Tomorrow I got one high amount expiring and Feb another bigger amount expiring.

Later will transfer all loose change to place public bank tomorrow at 4.8%. Hope public bank doesn't revise after today's upset news.

As in revising downwards? You don’t see banks revising their promo so fast when OPR increased. Typical.
*
Ya I know. And I asked if still available yesterday after OPR decision they said yes. Then morning got message no more...

AMBank only 2 months 4%. The rest all no more. Like 18 months 4.5%. AMBank.

So far highest is 4.25 18 months. Anyone knows highest please let me know. Thanks.

Re-cap:
Ambank 4% 2 months
Muamalat 4% 3 months
HLB 3.93% 3 months
HLB 4.13% 6 months
Alliance 4.38% 12 months

Yesterday I called up Alliance RM, 4.38% no more.

May I know how does a "Term Investment Account" (TIA) differ from a FD? Why does it offer higher returns?

HLIB website says it is a low-moderate risk investment but doesn't explain what makes it riskier compared to FD.

Are the rates guaranteed?
*
TIA promised interest rate is not guaranteed. Written in the forms they require you to sign. Unless something drastic happens, like BNM reduces OPR by a lot, they should pay as per in the certificate. Not protected by PIDM too.

Yesterday I put in one year CIMB TIA 4.3%. Oh one good thing is if you need money urgently, you can withdraw before maturity and still get back half (or less) interest rate. If normal FD, nothing.

QUOTE(GrumpyDiver @ Jan 23 2023, 08:06 PM)
Any PBB gurus here? On 11 January this year, I placed a 24mth FD with PBB. The maturity date showing on PBe is 11 January 2025 which is a Saturday and the bank is closed on that day. Other banks that I normally deal with would automatically move the maturity date to 13 January 2025 which is a Monday. How does PBB treat this situation? Shouldn’t PBBs computer system have automatically set the maturity date to 13 January 2025?
*
I wrote about this a couple of weeks back. At the next working day which I presume Monday for you, ask the staff at the counter to remember to give you the interest over the weekend/public holiday. But those days only give you board rate which sucks, better than nothing.

Hi, can I know any terms do you used when requesting to give the interest on the next day of maturity date where it falls on weekends/public holiday?

When I ask the officer, it says they follow the number of days based on the tenure of the FD.
*
Are we talking about Public Bank? No special terms. Just tell the officer when you redeem your FD asking for the weekend/public holidays interest. But has to be the next working day. If you miss even by one day, then sorry they won't give you. Tell that blur officer to check with the Operation Manager. I triple confirmed with Operation Manager, officer at normal counter and also at RCB counter on my information. Because I have min 2 such FDs that fall on weekend and my FD amount is big.

Yes, I am referring to Public Bank.
Is the interest given is at board rate?

Normally, FD uplift before the maturity date will not entitle to get interest and there is no daily interest.

Seek for your explanation.
*
Yes board rate. Yes if to uplift before maturity date you will not get a cent.
