Well, I have around 10 devices wireless connected doing light browsing with occasional whatsapp video, usually my one wired connection gaming ping stable on 30mbps. Now got 2 wired including mine but downloading many dramas and ping is spiking like shit, so 30mbps is not enough rip.
*
It depends individual's workflow and how many devices are connected at the same time. so there is no clear cut enough or not enough concept that can be applied to all. but instead, every individual will know if it is sufficient for not for their needs. smile.gif this is totally subjective.

Sometimes only dowbload. 4 users.
I heard last time the upload speed is worse in the 30 mbps package. Assymetrical speed and whatnot. Is this still the same? Upload speed will affect gaming or not?
*
last time when advance 30 first comes out, it is 5Mbps upload speed only, after that it is upgraded to 10Mbps upload speed now.

actually for online gaming, 5Mbps is more than sufficient.

in fact, disregard the total bandwidth, if a connection is stable, 5Mbps or 10Mbps also can be sufficient for normal users who just do normal browsing, or streaming some full HD YouTube video.

of course for expert users, no one will find bandwidth too much, the more the merrier. but to general bolehland ppl, price is actually the highest priority, they would rather get a 'ok' speed, such as 5Mbps or 10Mbps but paying a lowest subscription monthly as possible. even rm10 difference monthly for double or triple speed, if they are the 'normal' or 'casual' Internet users, they may opt not to upgrade.

Example such as my parent's Neighbour, they are paying rm140 for streamyx 4Mbps with a low 512Kbps upload speed, I told them they can actually pay rm39 extra to get a fibre connection which is a lot faster and can get enjoy 50Mbps upgrade also. They said no need as they are happy with the current speed for normal YouTube streaming etc instead of paying the extra for a better technology.

It is more of the hassle to go through to migrate from streamyx to unifi. Im a 3 weeks user of unifi and glad the process went quite smoothly despite got issue of no port for about 2-3months hanging and ping pong. I would say if no  walls needs to be drilled or need to wait for installer and so on as if it was super seamless, everyone will surely upgrade to 30mbps if given that they house is available for installation
*
not really. there is no hassle actually except the waiting time. Since one has the streamyx already. the unifi also does not utilize any existing infra of streamyx. During the waiting time of unifi to installation, no service interruption at all. Once unifi is installed, streamyx will be automatically cancelled also.

look at the budget 2017, the amount of potential existing streamyx users that TM mentioned that will be offered with the unifi lite 10Mbps, u can know that there are still a huge amount of existing streamyx users who have yet to upgrade to unifi despite there are coverage. This is why the unifi lite package will be offered also. certainly it is not the case about the hassle, but more of the price that most are concern with. there are still a huge group of users who cannot swallow a cheapest price of rm179 to upgrade their 'cheaper' streamyx plan to unifi thus they are reluctant to Horace despite the coverage.

today received a sms from TM mentioning that my request has been resolved. it could only mean my first step upgrade has been done. im previous vip5 user who got free upgrade to 10Mbps. and then now opted to pay rm20 extra to get 30Mbps instantly and then free upgrade to 50Mbps.

previous download / upload speed = 10Mbps / 10Mbps. now, been testing whole day,
current download / upload = 30+ Mbps / 10Mbps

now waiting for the free 50Mbps upgrade. might take a while i think.
*
good for u. it is even cheaper than the current rm179 promo price. thumbsup.gif

hi guys.. im just wondering.. as of now the internet is coming from my Alcatel-Lucent box and connected to my Archer C5 through LAN connection. There are all together 4 LAN port on the Alcatel-Lucent. Is it possible to utilize another LAN port on the Alcatel-lucent to setup another Router with PPoe , as in like having two Archer C5 connected to the Alcatel-lucent ?
*
not possible. At one time only one ppoe connection can be established with the same user id and password.

Yes, agree. Current price for 100Mbps is way overpriced.
*
If TM never review the current 100Mbls price, the existing users will becom 'water fish' which they are paying rm329 for the same speed to those who are paying rm229. Rm100 difference. Rm1200 per year.

I called TM due to my disconnection issue earlier and they reset my port, all is well now. Maybe you can try too.
*
certainly it is TM side issue, it is unlikely that so many of us who are located at different areas to have the same issues for the past many days.

today my apps download from app store is totally not moving at all. similar problem i saw it was reported previously.

I have no slowness though. In PJ area. smile.gif Disconnection issue which I had earlier also solved. rclxms.gif
Same IP address since I called to reset port on 9th Jan's night. biggrin.gif

Regarding Apps Store issue, I will try out in a while.
*
it is not slowness, but rather the unstable connectivity with youtube app (experience randomly since last week, not happen everytime, but once in a while). sweat.gif

if it needs to reset BTU or wifi router or ask up 100 to reset port, it is actually a fault from TM side. normal circumstances for a stable connection, it should not even need to do that.

app store problem only faces today.

Apps Store issue is not something uncommon for UniFi. You will have that issue every few months. Nothing new. laugh.gif

OK, no instability issue too. Been watching YouTube non-stop since just now. biggrin.gif My connection memang stable all this while, all these years just that after I came back from long holiday, it started to disconnect. sweat.gif

Nevertheless, OK now. biggrin.gif
*
my experience with VIP5 and VIP10 previously is fine also. in fact the few weeks after I installed the unifi early dec it is ok also.

just for the past few days since last week, it is certainly something wrong with the connection, for normal application, web surfing, torrent etc are ok. but youtube streaming certainly there is sometime unusual. and i am not the only one encounter this as per some others mentioned here too. it is certainly not an isolated case, it certainly affects some users including myself, it may not be everyone but certainly the issue is there.

You sure you are back in 24 months contract? Cause I got black and white email from TM(VADS) who push me for upgrade mentioning as per below:-
Good day. J

The terms that you highlight is for those customer who still under contract period.
In your case, no penalty charges entitled due to your Unifi account is currently out of contract.

Sorry for the late reply.

So it should not have any contract and I can terminate the line anytime I like but guess for now, no other better value package compare to this one yet.. so just use it..

Anyway how, you will found that your old router unable to support 30mbps as max I can only get around 20 through wifi.. but certainly you can get 30mbps with connection through the LAN port..

Still need to find some free time to "Damage" the router and STB before I call to TM to ask for replacement.
*
what is the completed text? from the two lines above, it does not mentioned anything about no 24 months contract will be tie to a upgrade of plan. confused.gif

but instead it just mention about termination that if one is under contract, there will be penalty for termination while one who is not will not get any penalty.

isn't it will be easier to just check directly with TM online chat or tm email to ask a simple question that if u unifi line is currently under any contract since it has now been upgraded?

Cause I wrote an email personally to this sales lady and ask for an B&W email confirmation from her as that I am not in any contract as I am out of contract for years.. Will keep this email perhaps in the near future whenever there is any better package or from Times which I might want to cancel the current package..

Anyway, got another call from Maxis also on yesterday but really stupid package beside they are using Unifi backbone to provide their internet service to us and changing higher fee with only good thing on free unlimited calls to all mobile and fix line.. plus replacing the router, chromacast, wifi repeater etc..
*
to be frank, the so called "sale lady" whether she is under TM or she is from outside agency who helps TM to promote the unifi, this is actually a question mark so whether her words can be trusted or even 'counted'.

the easier way is directly with check with 100, tm chat for a quick confirmation. thumbsup.gif

Unifi called me just now and offer me

upgrade to 30Mbps + ruby pack = RM169 (No future upgrade to 50Mbps, and 24 month contract)

what he told me is RM169 include ruby pack hmm.gif
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 12 2017, 10:58 AM)
What's your current package? I'm paying RM 179 with Ruby package and shall be upgraded to 50Mbps.
I don't think your deal is that good...
*
i think the rm169 is the price after GST. so the price without GST is rm159, which it should match the price that some had received the offer previously.

haha. so it is importantly to ask the price from the sale person if the price is before or after GST. sweat.gif

I got her supervisor email which when she ask me to sign up and I am requesting her to provide the the detail T&C which her supervisor did. So after the upgrade and seeing some thread from here then I drop few email to her supervisor and he called me back to understand what is my concern, then I told him to give me a written confirmation that my current upgrade does not carry any contract and he said yes and will get her gal to get back to me.. then a few moment later, the lady send me a confirmation mentioning that the package is without any contract as my contract has over more than years..

Those people are from VADS which is TM subsidiary if I am not mistaken..
*
just call 100 or do the TM chat online to find out if it is under contract or not. in the end, TM side word counts.
no point to carry this question mark or uncertainties.

if only after 1 year then u happen to need to terminate and TM claimed that it is not the case, or worst case by then this sales lady is no longer around at the company by then. another round of hassle to go thru to get TM to acknowledge this.

without GST rm169 and 30Mbps only? wah.
then in few months time, u will have others paying rm179 for 50Mbps while u are paying rm10 less for 30Mbps speed.

not really an attractive deal given that 50Mbps plan is 1.5 times download speed and 2x upload speed than 30Mbps one.

Well all know that price is before GST. If with GST will not be a round no. It has decimal. wink.gif
*
certainly has decimal, but when the salesperson tells the price, they will definitely round it. unlikely they will say rm168.xx. thumbsup.gif
