this lol. every now and then, i still see people complaining TM stock router is not good enough/total crap, rubbish etc.

i've been using unifi for more than 5 years now, been using the stock router d-link 615(orange/white one) since the very beginning. throughout this period, i never had any problem at all with my router lol, be it wired/wireless connection. everything works just fine be it in gaming/browsing/video/torrent.

it really puzzled me when i read the forum and lots of people complaining about the router quality. just what the heck did u guys do lol.
*
yes, this is why i said the stock RG can meet majority of the ppl's need. there is really no need to upgrade to other brand's device for this case.

yup, the orange/white one is solid, the coverage is ok also. my uncle's house is using it.

actually the more function the wifi router, the more issues it may surface, in fact the basic one sometimes is even more stable.

From the chart,
it looks like VIP20 subscribers are in a disadvantage.
VIP20 pay RM249 upgraded to Advance50 pay RM249.
While Advance50 pay RM249 will be upgraded to Unifi Pro 100 pay RM249.

Streamyx subscribers benefit the most. Their upgrade will be to VIP10 (if their area has Unifi coverage).

What is the difference between Voluntary upgrade with consent and Voluntary only?
You pay RM179 for Advance30 which is not in the chart, therefore, no free upgrade for you.
Maybe only those who are paying full price for their package will get the free upgrade?

I don't know, maybe you have to check with TM on this.

This is my analysis on the chart above. Might not be true.
*
VIP20 is not only at disadvantage comparing to advance 50 at rm249, it is actually rm229. Current promo is rm229 and will be upgraded to 100Mbps soon. (If one is not using the free calls at all)

Worst comparing to current Advance 30 promo at rm179 which will be upgraded to 50Mbps also.
Again if one is not using free calls at all, VIP20 after the upgrade is paying rm249 for the same speed 50Mbps comparing to those users who are paying rm179 if sign up in dec and now. Rm60 difference in price.

No. Rm179 or rm229 also confirmed got upgrade if one signs up in dec 2016 or now (promo till end of Feb). This is confirmed as it is black and white stated.

For the current promotion packages, yes, they are entitled to the free upgrade.
There are many subscribers who have been given free upgrade earlier without increase in fee.
These subscribers will be affected.
Not sure about those who paid RM10 for the upgrade. Are they entitle to the free upgrade?
TM will find means not to upgrade your package.
*
those who had received upgrade previously such as those VIP5 rm149 to VIP10 with no increase in price, TM has already stated no more upgrade will be given, thus from the picture it explains also. u can see that it is VIP10 RM199 get upgraded to Advance 30 at rm199 later and not VIP rm149 to Advance 30 rm149.

those recently received calls to add rm10+ etc to upgrade such as from VIP10 to Advance 30 now, they are told that they will not be upgraded further later.

2. vip 5 to vip 10 no additional payment. vip 10 to adv 30 upgrade with additional rm10/ contract renew for 24months/no more free voice call.
*
the unlimited calls for any VIP5/10/20 now, i think this is the price it is worth for.

VIP5 and Streamyx subscribers are in the same category "voluntary" upgrade to VIP10.
Do you mean that these subscribers have to pay for the upgrade to VIP10?
If that is the case, VIP5 subscribers are being shortchanged.
*
i think for those existing VIP10 users (who are upgraded from VIP5) who are paying rm149 for the 10Mbps with unlimited calls. if they are happy with the 10Mbps, it is actually not bad deal to them as of now which they will become the group which is paying the minimum price for the minimum speed after the entire upgrade exercise.

Is there any price adjustment for existing 30mbps customer who paid 199 before tax?
*
Confirmed no as the current rm199 comes with rm20 voice plan while the current promo or previous promo rm179 does not. So technically no price difference for rm199 or rm179 in terms of the things u get.

For those who had signed up from 1 Dec 2016 to 28 Feb 2017, it is very clear cut about the speed upgrade in B & W.

What to do: Sign up and activate the service between 1 Dec 2016 to 28 Feb 2017.
Check for eligibility: check http://www.tm.com.my/thankyousurprise on 9 Jan 2017, unless one is to reject the speed upgrade, else actually according T & C, nothing needs to be done. Not event need to accept.
When to receive the upgrade: April 2017 onwards.

Well, good for my RM179 30Mbps Unifi.

Now then, how about my RM88 4Mbps Streamyx?
I believe all 1.4million streamyx subscribers would like TM to post FAQ on this particular question :

I am an exisiting STREAMYX customer, am I entitled for this Free Speed Upgrade?
Saya adalah pelanggan sedia ada STREAMYX, adakah saya dapat menikmati naik taraf kepantasan
secara percuma ini?

*
streamyx customers confirm will not get any kind of speed upgrade as based on the earlier announcement from TM, they already said that existing streamyx users will be offered a new package. the new package from the earlier summary picture i had shared, they will get a offer to upgrade to a new unifi 10Mbps package at new pricing but obviously this is not going to benefit all existing streamyx users but selected one which I guess it is referring to the existing streamyx customers who have unifi coverage at their area but they have yet to upgrade to unifi or those existing streamyx users who will have unifi coverage soon at their areas.

The picture showing the 10M package just means that there will be such an option for Streamyx users who qualify and is voluntary. It does not automatically mean that all other Streamyx users will not get any upgrade or price adjustment.  That is how I see it.  I guess we'll see what happens later on.
*
as i said in my earlier post, they will get a 'offer' to upgrade to 'new package' at 'new pricing' which it is NOT free upgrade. since it is an offer, it is up to the existing streamyx customers to decide whether they want to take the offer to switch.

what it is going to happen soon on 16 Jan 2017 it is already very clear plus TM has officially added the FAQ regarding existing unifi customers can check for upgrade eligibility on 16 Jan 2017 which it does not need much speculation anymore. what it is not certain it is only for the existing Advance Pro 100Mbps unifi users who are paying rm329. one thing can confirm is that they will not get speed upgrade since they have not been mentioned in any plan of the speed upgrade as of now.

Total bandwidth exceeded, this is normal situation. Good luck with people opt for > 30mbps packages.
Consider your car as your Unifi package and road is the main underwater international line.
Is just like PLUS highway Seremban to KL, they just upgraded the road from 3 lanes to 4 lanes. More cars will be using it since this is the best road to used(last time Lekas is cheap before hike). As soon as all the cars pack the road, the normal thing happens, traffic jam with car crawling.

Now I'm using the 10mbps package, never have slow buffering issues.
Good luck with this, the most is you get extra few hours of stable connection, then back to square 1. Initially I thought was my line issues(from Screamyx) but now even with Unifi, I still got some disconnections every now and then. Really "potong stim" especially doing direct download from certain file servers, worst if 95% complete.
I don't really bother on this, as if I were to reset the port, the most is the time for this rubbish will be changed to another time. Just take note on the time you hit with this and avoid this time. This is what I'm doing.
*
to be frank, I had used VIP5 and VIP10 2 years back and I now use Advance 30. And also compare to my uncle's house VIP10. Indeed the VIP5 or VIP10 bandwidth are lower, but indeed the overall experience I do feel that VIP5 or VIP10 are more stable and consistent.

so for those who are streamyx whichever plan now and have unifi coverage but never sign up yet, if there is no worry about the port availability for unifi, can wait till tm announces the new unifi 10Mbps lite plan then upgrade to unifi. Given that they can offer rm159 price to the existing customers to upgrade to 30Mbps, the lite plan should indeed be priced at rm149 and below which it may be a good deal for those who really do not need so high speed but more concern about the price.

Like my parent house which has limited unifi port then probably different stories, I signed up for them last year end of November, that time still have 2 ports available. Now I check my parent house address, no more port for unifi.

the most value for money is the customers on Unifi Advance 50mbps Rm249 upgraded to Unifi Pro 100mbps -
RM2.49 per megabytes.
Value for money (after upgraded)

2. Unifi Advance 50mbps  RM199  = RM3.98 per mbps
3. Unifi Advance 50mbps RM249 =   RM4.98 per mbps
4. Unifi Advance 30mbps RM199 =   RM6.63 per mbps

*
the best value should be the customers who are on UniFi Advance 50Mbps rm229 now which they will be upgraded to UniFi Pro 100Mbps soon instead.

After speed upgrade:
Unifi Advance 100Mbps RM229 = rm2.29 per Mbps
Unifi Advance 50Mbps RM179 = rm3.58 per Mbps

50Mbps I supposed?

Normally those online streaming media are all in compressed format, even it is 4k it is unlikely to be in such big files I guess unless it is original content and for direct download?

ic. if torrent, no issue actually as one will watch the video only after full download.

1GB file just requires 5 mins to download at a maximum speed of 3.2Mbps thumbsup.gif
even a 20GB file will just takes 1.5 hrs.

Hi guys. I'm currently at VIP 10 package (upgraded from 5 last year), can I know the difference between this package and the 30 mpbs package besides the obvious download speed? I don't really need higher download speed, so is there any advantage to upgrading? (especially for online gaming)
*
10Mbps is more than sufficient for online gaming. unless u are doing heavy file downloading or streaming 4k video, else u cannot benefit much from the upgrade. but 30Mbps is more future proof though.

my experience on VIP10 it is very stable and fast. surfing normal webpages or streaming YouTube, i feel that it is faster on my grandfather's house VIP10 than my own house's advance 30 plan.
