still depends to Sony Malaysia do they want to reflect to US currency or not.

Sony Malaysia doesn't set the price. Sony Asia Pacific does.

Meh HDR is old news. I'd rather the Pro get Dolby Vision and meta HDR10 support.

Variable refresh rates becoming a standard with the implementation of HDMI 2.1 is several folds more important than all the kerfuckle over HDR. Those of you who has gsync or freesync monitors will understand why variable refresh rates is the most important thing to happen to games since HD resolutions.

While HDMI 2.1 can be firmware upgraded onto existing HDMI 2.0 ports, whether that's possible or not is down to the implantation of the HDMI spec on various hardware. I have not look at the design schematics for the PS4 pro, but it seems very likely that HDMI 2.1 can be patched into the system.

For TVs though, many TVs from 2015 and 2016 will be shit out of luck however. Yes, your displays are already outdated and is in no way future proof. Same goes for the home theater receiver owners. sweat.gif

So in summary, it's better to get PS4 slim?

i thought if buy PS4 Pro with all the improved specs will definitely improve ALL PS4 games old and new in terms of FPS and stuff?
i've been waiting for almost 3 years now to get my hands on a PS4. I want to get the best from my purchase obviously.

Right now i'm still playing my 5 year old PS3 slim(9 years if counting from my old YLOD PS3 phat) PS3. Almost all PS3 games i have played, well almost all. Now i just spend infinite times playing battlefield 3 online while waiting for the right moment to get a PS4.

Looks like i will need to spend another gazillion hours into BF3 again until Sony made it right with the PS4 pro.  whistling.gif  laugh.gif

No one from Sony ever said that the PS4 pro will improve ALL games old and new. Their requirement is that games from 2017 on wards must have some sort of Pro support. Games before that is up to the devs discretion to get Pro patches or not.

I will agree that it's mostly about the chase. You could get it cheaper sometimes on the PSN store. But finally tracking a game that you want down that no one in the country has for a good price is a great feeling. I bought KH 1.5 Remix 4 times just to get one without the Spanish on the R1 cover.
*
...and you could have just done it with 1 copy by editing a .psd file of the exact same boxart from vgboxart or deviantart. Then going to a printer shop and request a print from their laser printer, of which many is equal in quality to the same print you get from the retail release.

Interesting, so it seems that Sony Malaysia's site is showing the PS4 Pro as "in-stock".

They said no stock now actually. Bulk coming in February.

As to why online show can purchase, the call center lady also not sure.  Maybe because got very very limited units previously (but i doubt so..)
*
Alright apparently paying full for the online purchase will at least ensure you will get the unit in Feb and not needing to wait until longer (March-April, which is the actual "launch" for the PS4 Pro in Msia). Now don't take my word for it, there's no 100% certainty here.

it said 30ms, is it ok?

QUOTE(antwar @ Jan 17 2017, 02:37 PM)
30 ms is quite good.
*
Not trying to be a dick, but people need to stop accepting that "30ms is good". 30ms IS NOT good. 30ms is barely acceptable, it's no where near "GOOD".

Good is below 20ms.
Great is below 10ms.
Perfection is CRT, which is counted in nanoseconds.

If everyone just accepts that "30 is good", then TV manufacturers don't have reason to continue working on their input lag with their TVs. We're finally getting the next breakthrough in display tech, but let's not be lenient with barely acceptable benchmarks.

I think it's good that you're passionate about it, it's the same reason why I don't say the Pro is a must-buy because there's just so many ifs, ands or buts to get it to work at it's optimal "best" performance. If I wanted to mess with the settings and go through pages and pages of research to get the optimum performance, I would just get a PC. But the point of a console is not to be asking does this work with this or does this work with that. Plug and play, enuff said.
*
Some confusion here?

I'm not talking about the Pro, I'm talking about input lag in general. This has to do with gaming entirely, not just a console. You think monitors don't suffer from high input lag? That's not true at all. Many of those gaudy "gaming monitors" has input lag above 10ms, which is bad for mouse movements. On a controller, that can be a bit more lenient as majority of console games has some sort of movement, aim and input assist to reduce the jarring gap of a high latency display.

Whether you get a PC or a console, at the end of the day the input lag is the final door between the player and the game for interactivity.

My point is, people need to be more aware of these subpar input lag practices being marketed as "AWESOME or GOOOOOD!" and then accepting that something as low as 30ms being enough. All of us need to keep pushing TV manufacturers to wake up and put serious thought into input lag.

I'm not confused, I'm just making an analogy. But if you felt I was confused and did not help to accentuate your point, then I apologize.
*
No apology needed. I think your analogy is a bit off then:

While devs can reduce the game's raw input lag, displays are entirely out of everyone's hands except the manufacturer's and firmware coders. It's 2017, it's been 12 years since the death of CRTs. Flat panel displays should have already be at a stage where input lag shouldn't be discussed anymore.

It's not wrong to have a plug and play device into a display that has equally low input lag to have the best gaming experience.

I think Sony website buyer will still have to wait until Feb right? Takkan manage to jump queue lol

If really can memang best  thumbup.gif
*
Not really jump queue. Buying via the web store means the buyer pays full in advance, so of course they are given priority over those who on the pre order list through walk in Sony retail stores.

Sony Malaysia's practice has always been to prioritize paid customers first.

Anyways there will be a small restock next week. The next major restock is second week of Feb, tentatively.

hahahah i gamble and bought my ps4 from amazon for the release date version. but that one is the original price though. in fact i got it purely for usd399 (around that time exchange rate to rm13++ only), without any tax and shipping fees.  brows.gif

i want ps4 pro, but i wouldn't buy for any price >2k. that is really ridiculous. isheep and samsungsheep at least u got to have bragging right showing ur phone to others, ps4 pro? no one really bother unless they are gamers. lol
*
Same. Somehow escaped on tax too. So price was considerably lower than the dumb SRP set here in msia.

On the beta firmware. What I can say is that boost mode needs more work. I'm playing Yakuza 0 and while it is already a 60fps game, there are several times (when say in a 10-15 enemies on screen fight) where framerates will drop. Also loading into a new area too quickly can also cause the framerates to drop. Some of the high quality cutscenes also don't hold 60fps too well.

With boost mode, cutscenes that I knew had frame drops are smoother. But now at the same time, gameplay fights are dropping more frames than usual, even with the standard 3-5 enemies on screen random fights.

hmm.gif

Will test out Bloodborne later. I know for certain it's not going to fix the stupid framepacing, but here's hoping in the areas where it drops below 30, it doesn't with boost mode. Fingers crossed.

Hi guys, does the warranty covers the replacement of thermal paste?
*
They don't change the thermal paste unless it's absolutely required (paste dried off for example). Also, the application from technicians are often times sloppy due to how many consoles they have to work on day in and day out.

Have you tried installing games to external HDD? Is it just plug and play?
*
Pretty much plug and play. The external drive needs to be formatted into exfat or fat32 file system first though. You can do that within the ps4 or outside, doesn't matter.

You can then move games from the internal drive to the external. You can also take the external drive and plug it into a second ps4 provided your account associated with the games is there as well.

Ahh I see, do you happen to know any places/shops that offers cleaning or replacement of tp service in KL/Selangor area?
*
Not so sure. Maybe try heavyarm? If possible, you may also just do it yourself. Just look up some YouTube guides on how to dismantle a ps4.

Alright, thanks! I was just paranoid cos my pro is a little bit warm (only on the back side though), so I thought maybe changing the thermal paste to a better one would be good. Do you think the cooling/charging stand can reduce the heat?
*
QUOTE(FarMee @ Feb 5 2017, 05:07 PM)
Currently horizontal with gap underneath to reduce the heat on the PS4, but it is still warm even in air conditioned room
*
All ps4s, no matter the model are warm on the underside. It's just an inherent flaw of having a slim chasis and limited cooling capabilities.

You can add an external fan that blows directly into the intake side of the PS4 to improve some cool air going into it. But alas, there's only so much it can be cooled.

under the beta 4.5. can you really set custom wallpapers like family pics or DL images or something? or just screenshots as mentioned. i suppose can do a screenshot of the pic. but thats kinda inconvenient.
*
You have to use screenshots.

Yes it's inconvenient and also quite stupid having to use screenshots only for custom wallpapers. The quickest way is to load up a USB with images, open them up on the PS4 and then screenshot them. Otherwise, just use the PS App on the phone and send yourself all the images via PM from another account.

If i am not mistaken, i read from somewhere, its only in game screenshots or screenshots using the built in browser? People have been uploading to imgur and screenshotting it in the PS4 browser.
*
Doesn't matter how you get the screenshots. Point is, all custom wallpapers can only be selected from the PS4's screenshot gallery. So yes, you have to use the Share button one way or another regardless of which method you get your wallpapers.
