tecware phantom RGB, using it so far so good, good budget keyboard.

the seller in garage sale has wrist rest combo with the tecware phantom too iirc, could get them both for below rm250.

how much is it ?

kailh box switches arrived (black, red, brown, and white).

at first glance, imo they're smooth, have relatively less wobble stems at stock.

- black is the heavier linear;
- red is light linear;
- brown has but somewhat weaker tactile bumps at the beginning of key press (it's the opposite of cherry mx brown, which happens after key press)
- white is like cherry mx blue, which has the clicky effects (the click bar helps produce sharper effects; again, tactile bumps are different from cherry mx blue imo)

the housing of kailh box switches are different from cherry mx style switches. (mainly they're for anti-dust/water standards) these switches are all meant for smd-type leds if you're into baclklit boards.



for kailh box linear switches, the first impressions are actually not bad. now i really hope there will be silent versions of their linear switches.

btw about silent linear switches, gateron silent is a disappointment. the current better option for switches to build a silent board is still lubed cherry mx silent linear imo. (the comparison is based on what i have now; not including zilents mod or the zeal silents/zilents)

Got the GK64 as well. Am also trying it out with the new Kailh box switches as well. So far very impressed with them too!
But the size 2 left Shift key is a real pain in getting a replacement cap. T_T

my first impression with kailh box switches are good too. later i will test their linear with thick lube and see if it can achieve the same silence effects as non-silent cherry mx or gateron linear.

yes the 2u shift cap is rare. i found some from filco minila (thanks to irsyadfy for the tip), and also some key cap sets (cherry and dsa profiles) at taobao. i personally like the original cap set (the touch and typing feels are very nice), but it's even nicer if we can make the board more beautiful hehehe

This is it's current state. I can replace the right 1U shift easily but the left Shift.


I did replaced the left shift with the numpad "+" when playing around with my other SA profile set.

Might need to look into DSA set then.

nice lol so this is how sa profile sets look like on gk64. still not a fan yet but i will get some to try out

for me i need to adjust a bit when i type on dsa profile caps. i still prefer cherry profile more haha (dsa profile looks really nice imo, https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=87328955)

my latest cheapo cap sets that are on the way are not meant for gk64 also lol i will just use them for other boards.

nice! bro you're a heavy tactile guy, kailh box brown is just like cherry mx brown in terms of spring weight. i guess you will swap at least the springs later lol

edit: i have done lubing for kailh box red. (i have read that kailh box switches are pre-lubed; however, just to be sure, i lubed them. again.)

imo,
- the improvement of switch smoothness is not significant after lubing. (compared to cherry mx and gateron switches. for these two you will notice the change of smoothness right away, with cherry mx more apparent than gateron) i think they're actually pre-lubed already. (this is actually not bad. you can just grab these box switches, enjoy the nice smoothness out-of-box, without doing anything!)

- the silencing effect with thick lube is also not that noticeable. (maybe i did it wrong; i just painted all the contact points between stems and housing, and its spring, that i think will cause frictions)

Hello sifu here .. seeking for sifu advise.. currently looking for mechanical keyboard. Have google the Filco, Ducky & CM.. but still unable to decide.. which brand do sifu all suggest..

- Tenkey-less keyboard
- Cherry MX Brown Switches
- Built quality & durability.. dont wobble & solid..
- Have many color/type option when want to change pbt key cap..
- Prefer with RGB or backlit
- And if possible have software for easy setting rgb (this will be last priority & don't mind if setting using keyboard only)..
- Budget around RM 500

hi guys, new to the mkb community, recently got interested in customizing my keyboard and have been looking for keys to buy but they're so pricey! Anyway was wondering if there were any local keycap sellers around here?

Mainly I'm looking for colorful modifier keys for standard 60% in DSA profile (currently rocking an Anne Pro, waiting for my DSA Dolch to arrive from Banggood). For the legends, should have the same font as DSA Dolch or non-fancy symbols. Anybody where I can get keycaps besides aliexpress?

EDIT: Also, I don't mind 2nd hand if they are in good condition and not damaged

as a user, i suggest you get filco majestouch 2 / ninja (non-backlit), or ikbc f87 rgb (backlit, rgb; this one fits most of your needs above).
- they are tkl with cherry mx brown switches;
- their build quality and durability are relatively top notch;
- they have max compatibility with after-market key cap sets;
- for f87 rgb, its rgb modes are controlled by the board itself (very easy to use)

i had weird experience with ducky zero and cm masterkeys pro s, but i believe they have improved with their newer products, so it's for you to find out. you can go to ultimate.zone because they always have demonstration units for you to test on.

afaik filco boards need a ps/2 adapter to achieve nkro (usually provided with the board), if it's a thing for you.

usually the better places to get affordable key cap sets are from aliexpress and taobao. for really nice sets, zfrontier.com is one.

there are more affordable options at taobao/aliexpress, but usually they are not as nice-looking as those sold at places like zfrontier (good enough for me lol i prefer typing feels on pbt caps)
