I saw online that there is a discount on the Logitech G610 Brown Switches. What do you all think of the keyboard? I am looking at it from a typing perspective completely only.

it's better for you to goto a shop with demo units, and try them out and compare them yourself.

for mkbs it's always better to do the above, because believe it or not, for prebuilt boards, every manufacturer produces boards with different typing feels, even with the same switch type. (e.g. red in filco vs. red in varmilo) which one has better typing experience depends on individuals: very subjective most of the times.

Generally if the landed cost is under RM500, you will likely not be charged GST. If above RM500, it will be your luck. A case in point, several of us bought the Input Club K-type which shipped recently. Price was USD216 shipped. Some of us escaped GST while some were not so lucky.

i'm still looking for cheap and better ways to make a mkb as silent as possible, so here are some notes about sound-dampening mod:
- tested with different materials:
a) anti-slip mat;
b) sponge (basically it's just a thin sponge that taobao sellers used to wrap goods);
c) sound-dampening pad for car (thanks a lot richard biggrin.gif); and
d) a solid-rubber like, multi-layer sound proofing material for car (sound blocking + absorbing/dampening combo, they said; much heavier, and expensive; beware of the thickness; 2mm thick variant is ok; just for the sake of comparison, not worth the money)

- the sound-dampening mod only works best for aluminum cases. for plastic cases, not so much.
- in general, anti-slip mat and thin sponge are ok; sound-dampening pad is relatively better but slightly;
- it's best to do layers so that the pads are having good contacts between pcb and the case;
- for the last material (it's like myr180 per sheet), there is no need for this; i have some left so i just gave it a try.

so far imo the more significant mod for silent mkbs is lubed silent switches. the better switches for silent effects are cherry mx silent red/black. gat silent red/black are not as quiet.

the mod also makes the switches feel more sturdy to type on.

anyone know where to source cherry switches in small volume for faulty part replacement with reasonable price. Checking it for friend, if expensive might as well just get a new board.

Hi guys,

I'm about to get mkb. Previously only using cheap logitech keyboard. My budget around RM200-300. Currently looking at Magicforce Crystal 108 Keys Gateron roughly RM200 at Taobao. It is a good buy? Or any other recommendation? Also, when I test out mkb, I feels like I love blue switch. The click click sound. But I I get that Magicforce one, there is only red & brown switch available. Which one should I get?

welcome.

compared to local price, it's a good deal. if you loved blue switches then stick to it. red is linear; brown is tactile; but both don't have clicky sound. however, blue switches from gateron might have issues described here, https://input.club/the-comparative-guide-to...y/gateron-blue/ (take this with a grain of salt)

alternatively, consider at least iKBC boards with cherry mx switches. the non-backlit versions should be just slightly above 300+.

Can you show us the link of how it looks like? Corsair compatible keycaps actually is near to non-existence due to the bottom row. Most manufactured keycaps bottom row are 1.25x for the ctrl, win, alt, and 6.25x for spacebar.

Here is the link from Corsair store http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/corsair-gamin...t-keycaps-white

Howver i found the 3rd party compatible for K70 from taobao but there are some of the buyers complaint that the quality not so good, the lighting tranparency not consistent, certain keycaps have very low transparency, some also complaint that the 'leg' is too tight, when pull out the kepcap damaged the switch, i'm feel reluctant to purchase even there are cheaper.

The original kepcaps that came with the keyboard is just junk, the leg of the keycap tends to br eak easily even i'm not using extensively.

Pricing is always based on supply and demand, so if you gonna try any 'rarer' switch, then will be more costly. Generally speaking, cheapest option around definitely blue/red switches. It's necessary to reach some shop with display unit, try to type with the switches then you know which 1 is your favourite. I like tactile key since long time ago, blue switch felt so impressive to me when I first touch them. However, eventually they are just too soft and and not feel solid to me. I am using green and black switch for daily keyboard for home and work now, I type way faster with black switch then blue.

Conclusion, try to type properly with the keyboard for some typing test and wpm count, see which 1 you actually can feel the and do every keystroke with better 'confidence level' under pressure. Seriously, spending extra 50 or even 100 may seem reckless, still way better than you get something just to fit budget and feel like upgrade anytime soon.

this is not the stock ciplak abs key cap sets. it's the newly released pbt double-shot key cap sets from corsair. most if not all corsair boards have a non-standard bottom row.

Yes, @horns has answer that, original keycaps are crap, they are so fragile and broken so easily, PBT double shot keycaps are more durable. Anyway Corsair FB replied me that it will be available in Malaysia soon but never mentioned roughly when, i guess i will just have to wait.
