QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 01:23 AM) Around 2/3 of our military assets are based overseas. Thank you so much for the response. Appreciate a lot. They won't be attacking alone but more of supporting our allies. If not, the bases will act as refugee camps for Singaporeans that managed to flee. Singapore's main strength is in the large number of conscripts, not our high tech hardware. Your armed forces have to have at least a 3:1 KD ratio to even come to parity. |

QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 01:29 AM) Oh ya, 9 Terrex confiscated in HK port. Mind to share some insight? What is the actual reason it got confiscated? MoD planned to use own transport ship in future to prevent such incident from happening again. Wise move? And also your other insights. Wanna listen to your opinions on this incident. Thank you |

What unit? inb4 frogmen, commando, guards Question: how long do Singapore NSman currently serve? Reservists ORD how many days a year? Heard news about recent changes, lazy to find out btw step 3 can bypass as knowing TLDM, they all are using tacticos integration Kedah fit's it's minimum purpose for OPV, so 2 guns is all right even though the system is very top notch QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 7 2017, 11:48 PM) Hi guys! Hi, welcomeI'm a Singaporean who had served his NS. I was responding in another thread and I came upon this interesting thread. If you guys got any questions to ask me about NS, feel free to do so. ![]() ![]() you remind me of Alfie007 used to be active, but now really busy QUOTE(marfccy @ Mar 7 2017, 11:49 PM) lolQUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 12:29 AM) True. Don't feed the troll broMalaysia armed forces can defeat Singapore's in less than a day. Then they will fight a losing guerrilla warfare and end up having to retreat back to Malaysia. Winning a war is more about holding land than destroying stuff. A Malay majority armed forces will definitely not be able to hold ground in an area with majority Chinese population. That's why Singapore's doctrine is to seek maximum destruction rather than trying to "conquer" Malaysia. It is just not possible. |

QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 01:42 AM) Politics. I see. Thank you so much again for your valuable input China saw an opportunity of a lousy shipping plan and grabbed the opportunity. I don't think Mindef is planning to use RSN's assets to transport military vehicles. The cost of such an arrangement had been proven to be 10 times as high as using a normal cargo ship doing multi-port stops. In my opinion, it's not really a big issue. China just want to show SG who is boss. SG is not that important a chess piece than what people think it is. SG always promote itself as a supply base for the USN, but if you think about it, such an arrangement is only useful during peacetime. During wartime, China will be attacked from bases in JP and KR, not from ships travelling from Europe to SG to China like those cargo ships. |

QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 01:42 AM) Politics. Is time SG navy built own LHD Enduran 160, so can move army armour vehicles to any training location like in OZ & TW, even use for Asian country military exercise activity. some more LHD is cheap to built for ST Marine。Sg Mindef should no issue on budget。 China saw an opportunity of a lousy shipping plan and grabbed the opportunity. QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 11:16 AM) I disagree. theoretically LHD is for marine corps..but not means need follow 100% this road.. it can change some operation requirement base on requirement。The primary purpose of those LHD should be for amphibious purpose. Singapore don't have enough manpower to form a marine corps. Our only amphibious capability are those infantry and guardsmen who are trained in doing basic amphibious assault. I rather that money be spent on intelligence gathering and IT capabilities. Since SG military many training will be in Oversea, logistic with LHD is more simple and convenient it can use for transportation ship for large Infrantry with MBT and army armour vehicles, even as Helicopter transportation ship (i read news SG also move Apache to OZ using chartered plane) to oversea training center or military exercise。 LHD just example, it can be LPD, JSS, MRSS or transportation ship with to SG military. importance is above ship is cheap to built. and ST marine try hard to sell Endurance LPD too. since SG Navy have Endurance Amphibious transport docks, just built other 1 with bigger 13000-16000 tons should be enough for use。 This post has been edited by waja2000: Mar 8 2017, 11:51 AM |

QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 01:56 PM) RSN won't use naval assets to transport military cargo during peacetime. They have already made a public statement claiming that such an arrangement will increase cost by 10 times as compared to commercial cargo doing multi-port stops. So I don't see any need for LHD, expect for supporting jobs in our local military industry. |

QUOTE(TigerLion @ Mar 8 2017, 02:11 PM) They have already published on our newspaper stating that naval assets won't be used during peacetime due to cost constrain. ask any of your COs that has been on joint operations before.. they would know better... btw, the LSTs are the army's asset not, the navy just operates it... its under the army's command... |

Najib slams Pyongyang for 'holding Malaysians hostage'
![]() Pyongyang's move yesterday to bar Malaysians from leaving North Korea is effectively holding them hostage, Malaysian leader Najib Razak said yesterday as he ordered a tit- for-tat ban on North Koreans leaving the South-east Asian country. The dramatic escalation of the row followed the expulsion of the North Korean ambassador to Malaysia, which was matched by Pyongyang's own declaration that Malaysia's already recalled envoy was persona non grata. ![]() The heated spat was caused by the Feb 13 murder of Mr Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Prime Minister Najib said in a statement that he had instructed police to prevent North Koreans from leaving Malaysia "until we are assured of the safety and security of all Malaysians in North Korea". ![]() Yesterday, he chaired an emergency meeting of Malaysia's National Security Council that includes the police, army and immigration chiefs. "This abhorrent act, effectively holding our citizens hostage, is in total disregard of all international law and diplomatic norms," Datuk Seri Najib said. At least 11 Malaysians - mostly diplomats and family members - are grounded in Pyongyang, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican. On the flip side, at least 180 North Koreans, and possibly hundreds more, are stuck in Malaysia. North Korea's Foreign Ministry said the move to bar Malaysians from leaving would be in effect until "the safety of the diplomats and citizens of the DPRK in Malaysia is fully guaranteed through the fair settlement of the case that occurred in Malaysia", according to state organ Korean Central News Agency. Pyongyang rejects claims by South Korea and the United States that it ordered Mr Kim's execution, insisting that the dead man is not related to North Korea's leader. It instead accused Malaysia of dishonest investigations and conspiring with North Korea's enemies, an outburst which resulted in Kuala Lumpur expelling Pyongyang's ambassador Kang Chol, after he failed to apologise. North Korea reciprocated on Sunday but Kuala Lumpur's ambassador had already been recalled two weeks ago. Malaysia has arrested four suspects over the killing. Two women - Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28 - were charged with killing Mr Kim, who died on the way to hospital after the duo allegedly smeared his face with a liquid in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport before he was to board a flight to Macau. One North Korean suspect was deported last Friday after investigators failed to obtain sufficient evidence to charge him during a two-week remand, while four other North Korean suspects are believed to have escaped on the same day of the attack, and are now in Pyongyang. ![]() Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday that he believed three other North Koreans - including a senior diplomat - wanted for questioning over Mr Kim's death are inside the North Korean Embassy, preventing police from taking their statements. "We will wait, if it takes five years, we will wait outside. Definitely somebody will come out," the police chief told reporters. |
