guys, other than durability, easier maintenance, weight and sound preference, does upgrading your hub/freehub have any other benefit?
I heard from friends and bikeshop staff it can make your wheels smoother and faster but I never found any article in the internet supporting that. This post has been edited by nandayo: Oct 31 2017, 04:41 PM |

to me, its just reliability (good bearing) & aesthetic (can mod the freehub sound)
nothing more than that |

QUOTE(nandayo @ Oct 31 2017, 02:59 PM) guys, other than durability, easier maintenance, weight and sound preference, does upgrading your hub/freehub have any other benefit? This is an industry kept secret.I heard from friends and bikeshop staff it can make your wheels smoother and faster but I never found any article in the internet supporting that. Change your wheelset is actually (feel) about the same of changing a new bike. but don't be happy too soon. changing (good) wheelset may cost you as much as a new bike |

Tried one at orbit cycle, look bad ass but they don't have the colour I want. this is a road bike helmet, they don't have visor on it. You might find the visor being useful of some sort later, though i see it just a 'fashion statement'. Nevertheless, any type of helmet is good. It protects your head. Just that a better helmet gives you more protection, comfort & style https://shopee.com.my/-OGK-KABUTO-ROAD-BIKE...27004.525382680 However don't buy online, try before you buy.. lerun has warehouse sale today till this sunday.. google the address I almost buy a giro helmet online but luckily i went to bmc ss2 and tried it, it didnt fit me well.. bought another giro thre anyway. QUOTE(sex. @ Nov 5 2017, 11:24 PM) im contemplating to buy niner hardtail. is niner good brand? their R&D is reliable? but i dont see niner team in UCI world cup. I think Niner is quite reputable brand in North America. Was following this youtuber Clint Gibbs and his vist to their HQ. While I was reading up on Niner, found out they have 12yrs under their belts and a supporter of IMBA.![]() ![]() http://www.ninerbikes.com/Our-Story-About-Niner_2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niner_(bike_company) |

I changed to a good wheelset bout 3 month ago. What i experienced is....I heard from friends and bikeshop staff it can make your wheels smoother and faster but I never found any article in the internet supporting that. It reduce rolling resistant on good bearing. (Faster down hill, watt saving during pedaling) I doubt how much increment in pedal speed as it rely in your leg ability. But definitely could ride further and longer. Sealed bearing, good ones, become maintenance free! Weight affect from weight(rim) that directly affect rolling weight (for road) and weight directly affect hill climb. Hub weight has almost no influences in what so ever. But very subjective and each individual ppl might misunderstand what ppl trying to convey as many ppl think loud hub is good, which not really correct also. (Mine isnt that loud) |

QUOTE(ieR @ Nov 15 2017, 09:56 AM) I changed to a good wheelset bout 3 month ago. What i experienced is.... One have to master Moment of Inertia to be able to calculate precisely which and which, but basically, rotational mass is greater than static mass, iinm about 3 times the actual weight. (Mine isnt that loud) in other words, if your wheelset (plus tire) is about 1kg each, means when it rotates, it will become 3kgs of weight over there. if your wheelsets are 2kg each, then 12kgs of rotational mass when it started rolling changing new hubs (regardless of either loud or silent) will equipped you with different engagement level. More clicks per wheel turn should indicate a better hub capabilities. dont take my words seriously on clicks. you still have to consider the quality, reliability, price yada yada all these, least that we forget about the drag, either from your tires, clothing, helmet yada yada. basically, wider tires have bigger drag. knobs pattern and even tires compound would give a difference to your ride. enjoy riding guys, you may learn a thing or two by changing parts of your bicycle.. and soon you'll know why people just do not stop upgrading their bikes.. |

just tried clipless for first time - shimano pd-m530 with shimano mt44 shoes
tested clipping and unclipping up to 30 times both sides in my driveway first time riding, clipped in right, pushed down then left clipped in auto without much effort was drizzling the whole 20k ride, didnt stop. lots of puddles etc. then came to my car...as always...slow down>right pedal 6 oclock>bum off saddle>left foot at 12 oclock, left heel twist in and released immediately immediately felt banggala because *no falls* then when i put my left foot down on the wet road in the worsening rain, landed exactly on the protruding slippery cleat....immediately slipped.....left leg extended away from bike and had a muscle pull immediately.... only consolation is right foot already off the pedals due to the fall /myfirsttime |
