What is the rate for GIA now?

Before i place, the link for me to view the rate stated 1 month is 3.2% p.a.

After i place, the rate show 2.25% p.a.  sad.gif

Feel like being cheated!

I know now 1 month can withdraw with daily interest, but i didn't know the rate can be so misleading.

Anyone place 1 month, and withdraw is it 2.25% p.a.?

If yes, i will uplift tomorrow.

Is my mistake, initially want to place eFD, the rate for 1 month is 2.9% p.a, click in GIA see is 3.2%p.a, so give a try...

where did you see 3.2%?

for many months now since June 2019, always 2.25% for 1mth tenure.

most of my placements between 1-15 days withdrawal, all calculated to 2.25% profit.

I login M2U classic, then choose Fixed Deposit, placement, then GIA-1, select 1 month, then the next screen before key in the amount, there is a link 'View your new General Investment Account-i (GIA-i) rates'

That's is normally where i check the rate before i place Conventional eFD.

I believe is the website link didn't update... doh.gif

Now I discover the word '* Effective from 16 June 2018 to 15 July 2018' after i re-login to capture the link.

My mistake didn't read this last sentence, however MBB have responsible to update the link!

Well, lesson learned.

but not everything is outdated, the Conventional e-FD rate they did update the link correctly. That's why i take it as current rate.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

Hi guys, I tried to place gia but after confirm it showing "pidm acknowledgement is required".

But the problem is I couldn't found that "small box" to tick.

If anyone is interested, Bank Rakyat has an FD that offers a rate comparable to this Maybank GIA. As an FD, your principal is guaranteed and as I made placement today, the profit rate was 3.50%.

The bank don't have PIDM protection, but it is government backed

Unfortunately, no. It is an FD so no interest is uplifted prematurely

then you are comparing the wrong reasons

ppl opt for eGIA is for flexible withdrawal, not for the rate.

you came here posting FD rate instead. doh.gif

nothing's wrong with that.

there are better rates for FD instead.

use eGIA for short-term placement with flexible withdrawal, like <1mth
