my brothers gtx 1050ti sucking 91 watts from pcie  sweat.gif. saw the gpu z log when the gpu boost to 1.7ghz it takes 91 watts damn scary

That's typical for a brief moment. My old 290x can get 290watt when overclock+overvolt and that's not total board power. laugh.gif

For me the new driver is problematic.
Maybe if you don't OC , its good for you.
Once you OC using Wattman, the memory clock speed revert to a fixed 150Mhz out of the blue and stuck there unless you reinstall the driver again, but it does not solve the issue totally.
I went back to the previous driver.
I'm a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC user

Im using 290x. Whenever I open gta 5 it always crash and display error message "default radeon wattman settings have been restored". Only gta 5 and other dont occur this issue. For oc I only use MSI Afterburner not Wattman because it's like to back to normal clock.

Are you by chance using multi-monitor? I read this problem is related to multi-monitor configuration+overclock.

Any eta on Vega? Fury's seem to be at a really good price point right now and I need something with Freesync @ 1440p/4k with settings at medium.

If it's going to be months before Vega is out (especially in Malaysia tongue.gif) I might as well buy a Fury.

No official ETA, many speculate Q1 2017.

i heard amd no more support gcn 1.0 and 1.1 for direct X 12 is it?
*
Where did you heard that? laugh.gif

They did disable Async Compute for 1st gen GCN though, but they will enable it back in future drivers.

Finally, some competition at the high end market.

Can't have one Company dominating that segment.

Really hoping for that Ryzen will give them intense competition.

Then we can expect more improvements from all players.

hi, i wanna ask. i have r9 390. so far so good. i never update the amd driver since i bought the entire new pc together with the gpu. i heard that if i update the driver, it will not perform as good as the old driver for the same game. meaning that if i update the driver, the gpu may not churn out fps as high as previous driver. is it true?

Newer drivers ensures better compatibility with newer titles. Hence performance is quite subject to your setup.

for dirt 3 your current gpu can surely max out all details and still hit the magical 60fps mark thumbup.gif
