Contacted CS via live chat and got her help to check for my spending on both LFC and JOP, so she was able to provide me a rough figure from last year's AF to the latest statement.

Both cards, still not far fetched but my CL is too low to cover the gap. shakehead.gif

For SCB WM, totally no hope to waive. My spending was less than RM 100. laugh.gif

My AF for all cards will be charged in August.

I am not interested to find out how to pay less than the statement balance.

Always pay the statement balance by the due date. This is the golden rule to avoid paying late penalty and interest.

QUOTE(cybpsych @ May 21 2019, 12:04 PM)
some bank treats cashback as payment, some dont.

always tell ppl, regardless of banks, PAY FULL STATEMENT BALANCE/AMOUNT by DUE DATE. simple. rm50/rm85 cashback is not worth the hassle after gotten slapped with interest.

treat the cashback as "deferred gratification". you already earned it, just cannot enjoy immediately. it's still yours.
*
In his case, cash back also part of the payment. But just he did not pay full statement balance.

All of the time, cb will be treated as payment. unless your cashback redeemed is posted after your statement date, which will be calculated as next statement payment.

Rule of thumb, never have over due balance from statement balance after due date. Always pay full before due date.

Checked online banking and AF charge got reversed, but it'll only be reflected in next statement (June).

Because it was the last item charged in my May 2019 statement, I was told that I can pay current statement balance minus RM250. Can I really do that, or do I pay the full amount as per statement just to cover my butt/don't get charged interest and what not?

Thanks.
*
No need to care about next statement, just check your balance got deducted that RM250 if yes, means money already in your account. Just make sure you pay full your currently statement balance before due date will do.

Guys, i have a friend who holding SCB CC,  stop using since FEB 2019.
This month june 2019 statement been charge Annual Fee.

Call for cancel the card, the CS told her need to pay 50% annual fee.
Call 2nd CS also saying the same thing. Is this new rules from BNM ??
*
QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jun 11 2019, 09:53 AM)
already stopped using since feb 2019, should've quickly terminate it, chances to get the af fully waived could be better.

af is payable by user. that's the T&C that the user signed & agreed during application.

whether 25%, 50%, or 100% af waier, it's up to bank's discretion to waive or give none at all.
*
But if the AF kicks in and the user not using the card at all after that, still can cancel without paying a cent right?

I cancelled my card, as I been late payment with the amount of RM 115.45.
Although I paid on the second day after due date, SC charged me for INTEREST of RM 41.98. I never late pay for three years with SC, and by the amount of <RM 150. It cannot be waived.

The calculation was based on the outstanding amount as of the day (included unbilled transaction). It was a good card, but i never been this kind of treatment from all credit card that i had ever!
*
Yes, It has been reported that, when you pay overdue. The interest is charged based on your statement balance and calculated from the transaction date. Not base on the outstanding balance. I think this T&C also clearly stated in all cc charges & fee section.

Good luck.

OMG, it just came to my knowledge that Standard chartered interest calculation is different then all the other banks.... a totally ripoff calculation.

If you are late in your payment, your interest will be charge until your next billing cycle. Means, if you are late for 1 day... they will charge you interest for all the days until your next billing cycle. Not only for that 1 day late...

So late 1 day or 15 days = no difference...
*
How can it be? means they are charging Future interest once you have even RM10 outstanding balance?

AFAIK, you have RM1500 on your statement balance. when over due date you still have RM100 outstanding(Paid RM1500).

Your RM1500 spending will hit by interest from the transaction date till the date you pay off total RM1500.

normally they have grace period hmm.gif

But someone did explain in early post, i forgot how is it.

I did late 1~2 days paid before but didnt get interest expense.

QUOTE(x-frame @ Jun 25 2019, 06:25 PM)
Lets say your statement balance is RM1000 while having a statement billing cycle on every 15th of the month and you pay late (RM1000) 1 day. Suppose to pay by 28th of the month but you pay on the 29th. They will charge interest from the day of purchase until the next billing cycle. Dont care if you settle it 1 day late or 2 days late... they will charge from your transaction date to your next billing cycle..

mad.gif

You can call up the CS and ask, just ask if you pay late how? they will give you an example like above...
*
QUOTE(zenquix @ Jun 25 2019, 10:55 PM)
normal for all banks.Think you need to read through Credit Card terms. I posted earlier. Once you late you lose interest free period until next zero statement balance
*
Yes, you all are correct. Once its late means late, they already give 20 days interest free period excluding the free addition period when you swipe your card after statement date. Why people still want to pay late and then bising bising there? Right?

If late, just pay the interest as penalty. No argument. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

K.I.S.S.

You already spent RM2500 on Bigpay on 1/7-3/7, so RM30 CB confirmed.
From now on till 31/7 (but must be posted by 7/8), pump petrol up to RM200.
If you pump RM100 before 31/7 (posted by 7/8), you will get +RM15 CB.
If you pump RM200 before 31/7 (posted by 7/8), you will get +RM30 CB (max).
*
Just to make life simple and understandable, you can ignore the last 3 lines. Just spend between 1st-30th every month. 99% you will get the rebate.

As 99% of the merchant also wont drag your payment for so long. They will usually settle the transaction within 1-5 days as they also want collect your money from your credit card bank. Even the settlement days can drag upto 60 days...its unlike happen. I never face merchant settler my bill more than 5-7days during my time using cc. haha...usually 1-3days they will settle n transaction will be posted on your card.

OK, now i'm blurred ...
Before 1st July, we just need to spend within month to get RM85 max once we hit RM2,500 (15%)

Right now, for July portion (August return), when is the period that we need to spend after having this CLAUSE 3:
Does it mean that we need to spend before 8th July 2019?
And July portion actually only has 1 week utilisation ?

July RM60 = 1st July ~ 7th July
August RM60 = 8th July ~ 7th August
September RM60 = 8th August ~ 8th Sept

Please correct me if i'm wrong
*
No..wrong. You still transact before end of each month for that mth cb. What he means is, if you purchase on 30-31st of the month, and the merchant somehow only settle your bill more than 7 days. then you not eligible for cb for that spend.

To avoid these problems, avoid making purchase when close to cb cut off date...most card is end of every month.

Hi all. Need your guidance

First time got outstanding charges from bank.

Example
Statement rm1.5k, paid 1.4k before due date and short of rm100.
The interest was charge base on statement rm1.5k but not short payment rm100......
Is this correct way to calculate?
*
yes, this is the way they calculate interest + interest is calculated from the date of transaction.
