QUOTE(weirzz @ Nov 13 2016, 08:23 PM)
I have been using iPhone 7 Plus Matt Black for about one month with fully covered by a TPU casing and full screen tempered glass most of the time. I just open the casing once a week to wipe the dust off from the phone. Until yesterday when I take off the casing, and notice there is something at the edge of the phone body next to UP Volume button. At first I thought it just the dust. I try to wipe it using microfibre cloth as usual. Until I look closely it is the metal part of the body. It seems that the black anodised paint had been chipped off from the phone body. I am really disappointed with what happen to the phone because I was using it very careful.

I have chat with Apple Customer Support and it is not covered under warranty since it is under cosmetic damage. Seems that the anodised paint quality on iPhone 7 is same as what is on iPhone 5. The iPhone 7 body paint will chipped at anytime regardless you are using it very careful. Just to share with you guys  sweat.gif  sweat.gif [attachmentid=8019564][attachmentid=8019565]

my friend used without case also like this, but his 7 plus matte black got one white dot on the power button like yours, not volume button, he show me and we see clearly, it should be the edge down inside, not the surface outside, so we think it is the paint quality itself not something hit it and the paint comes off

first, he also thought is dust, somehow go see clearly it is the paint come off blink.gif

p/s: just contact him want to ask him send photo, he told me he touch up with black paint, now very hard to see biggrin.gif

some other area of matte black shakehead.gif

Would strongly suggest to clear coat / wrap the devices to prevent such occurrences as iphone 7 device is very fragile. Protecting just with the tempered glass or screen protector will not be sufficient.

The case do look nice and from photo it didn't cover the volume button.

In this case not the casing issue.

Possible it get scratch when you put your phone with others material, for example key-chain, coins and etc. Any hard material can anytime scratch the aluminium / metal, no need knocked anything to happen this.

Beside using the casing, i also use skin which I did on my own. precisely cut to fit the side button (volume, silent, lock). Just today i peel off the skin because want to make sure what is it between the volume button. previously when the skin is still attached, i thought it is the adhesive residue.

this is picture after i touch up with black paint

after some googling, i think it is possible that the paint peel off for matte black

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/iphone-c...-5500475-2.html
https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/5a...bottom-comments
https://imgur.com/gallery/OkjLh

just that some is too minor until not noticeable, if you believe something hit it and paint peel off like this biggrin.gif then you can continue believing it... so the conclusion is the paint cannot withstand anything hit it

I re-check your photo, it seems like some anodization issue. Not only that button, it seems like others places also start on the way to clipped off.

I suggest you die die also must try the best check with Apple to get a replacement.

How to prevent I dunno, probably away from anything salt.

I believe only happen to certain badge, from the link he given, this actually also happen to 6s series.

From picture post, it seems the aluminium issue, does't look like human make.

http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone...1930678/page-24

Pray it is just an isolate case, I can't stand such, I will get puke.gif

I think later will be many more to start chipping. I dont know how to push them to include this under warranty. i went to Switch this evening and they said it was not cover under warranty. but they ask me to send an email to Apple US. i could not find any Apple support email on their website. So I just having a chat with customer support person and she said it is not cover under warranty. she said if i want to repair it will cost $100+ and the phone will be ship to any nearest Apple Repair Centre drool.gif

How about try calling them - https://support.apple.com/en-my/HT201232

Or go to their warranty center - https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/produc...ac-english.html
