I'll just stick to Asia Pax Japan. www.thejakartapost.com/amp/news/2016/12/19/rupiahs-fortunes-to-fade-as-indonesias-tax-amnesty-nears-end.html?client=ms-android-htc-rev QUOTE The rupiah’s reign as Southeast Asia’s best currency is set to be short-lived as the supportive inflow from a $12.3 billion tax amnesty program is about to be slammed shut. The currency will slump more than 2 percent by March 31 as the market’s focus returns to Indonesia’s current-account deficit and as rising U.S. interest rates lure money away from emerging markets. Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. says the rupiah will suffer as the dollar strengthens, while Standard Chartered Plc predicts the currency will drop through the first half as the deficit widens. “A significant portion of funds under the tax amnesty would be repatriated by the end of December, which would ease some supporting flow for the rupiah,” said Teppei Ino, an analyst at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in Singapore. “We are also likely to see the somewhat strong dollar trend remain in the first quarter.”

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Dec 20 2016, 09:08 AM) Capital control issue/Property bubble/Seizure of underwater drone Yeap. don't be scared. it's good they are fixing their shit rather than be the old China where there were no controls. all this started after the meeting to open up China to the world and in order to first do that they need to reign in corruption and capital outflow. aussie now feeling the pain from that capital control as their property sector has been hit the past few months

QUOTE(wodenus @ Dec 20 2016, 09:57 AM) nah not us. we are still busy trying to cover the ass of one guy and propping up one bigot party rather than trying to fix the issues that's slowly strangling us. perfect example is the 2017, where 90% of the budget was created as gifts to the civil service and the poor and no capital injection to bring up the economy.

If one stay invested in a fund, profit taking is not going to help defending the profit, isn't it ? Eg, if the price drops, it will eat into the principal of those remaining (invested) amount. Eg, if the price drops, it will eat into the principal of those remaining (invested) amount. yes I do agree with this but this trump event is a freak of nature and not often you get a hefty profit from unit trust within a span of like a few months? most people dream to get it after staying invested for 6 months to maybe a year to get those profits. so yes if I were you I would lock the profits down by skimming the greens and reinvesting those profits somewhere else. that's just my two cents brother. my India fund was at 15% the other day and I didn't skim the profits. now it's at 6%. I don't have any regrets about it

Nothing much to do. Continue to tweak my main portfolio.
Invested equally my proceeds of sale in RHB Money Market Fund into the RHB US Focus Equity Fund and RHB GS US Equity Fund. Sold off some of my Malaysian Bond Funds and divided it equally into the RHB Emerging Markets Bond Fund and RHB Asian Total Return Fund. I am waiting for my proceeds of sale to materialise in RHB Cash Management Fund before investing further in existing equity funds.
No more ammo for now. Otherwise I don't mind buying in again into the same junk bond fund, i.e. Eastspring Investments Asian High Yield Bond MY Fund - USD or AUD.
To continue diversifying and hold MORE cash in turbulent times. Challenging year ahead in 2017 especially for Malaysian market.

I still got some cash lying around.....I don't plan to commit financial suicide by taruh semua into unit trusts. Remember Rule No. 1? Unit trust investment is investing with spare cash that we don't need for the next few years. We must keep an emergency fund of at least 3-6 months of our monthly expenses. The more the better in our current economic climate. This post has been edited by Vanguard 2015: Dec 20 2016, 03:11 PM

Today I did a small top to up to Eastspring Global Leader, so I am glad to have noticed people still topping up or investing new into US .... at this late hour. Still, quite puzzled why nobody seem to invest into Japan ! This post has been edited by puchongite: Dec 20 2016, 03:26 PM
