hey guys, on profit taking part. say i have investments in CIMB Global Titan, and i have reached a comfortable return now. what is the best way to maximise my returns.
example return is 10%

option 1: switch into cash management funds and reinvest later
option 2 : switch into another CIMB fund, bond or otherwise
option 3 : switch into another fund in another fund house (switching cost applies right)

thanks for the enlightenment

normally they starts with a portfolio of funds with allocated certain % on each fund.
is your current allocation still as per your initial risk appetite and outlook?
if yes,...is there any fund that is not as per required allocation?
if yes,... still like those laggard funds?
if yes,...top up those laggard funds with your "gains" from GTF

what is bond duration?....
Bond Duration - What, How & Why?
Bonds are one of the two main financial instruments with which investors utilise to invest. Despite their status as a relatively safer instrument as compared to equities, bonds still possess various risks which affect their valuations. To keep things short, a bond's price is sensitive to changes in interest rates. So how then does one quantify this price sensitivity?

Today, emerging markets may appear to be headed into the ditch. But they have higher average growth rates, more favorable demographics and possess better balance sheets than developed countries. Just like the Cézanne, in time they could appreciate in value.

guys what do you think of the advantages or disadvantages of doing DCA on monthly basis or weekly basis or am I just making it complicated.

example. my allocation into Ponzi 2.0 is 25% of my total asset available. I currently have 1400 in the fund. 25% means I need to allocate 12500 to Ponzi 2.0 so I am left with 11000 to hit target allocation.

I was thinking of buying in 400 per week but I see most of you do monthly dca so by right I need to lump sum 1200myr per month until I hit target allocation.

PS. I feel I'm sounding like a crazy guy so please bear with me.
*
have your other funds in your portfolio reached its intended target allocation?
if you just focused on topping up 1 fund until it reached the target allocation,.....your portfolio could be one sided.
can you do top up on a few funds with in maybe 2 months?
like this example,
1st week Ponzi 2.0 RM 400
2nd week GTF RM 400
3rd week GEM RM 400
4th week KGF RM 400
5th week .........
6th week ......

hmm.gif let the FSM team do the assignment for you to decide on the allocation for next year.
usually they will have a lists/article on where and what do invest for the new year in Jan.
from that list, due to the "filtered" few funds; it would make it easier for some to just flip coins to pick

another Sunday morning reads....for those interested in "BETA"

Wondering About Smart Beta? Read This Now! [2 Dec 16]

What Exactly Are Smart Beta Funds?
Most investors are probably familiar with exchange-traded funds (ETFs) – instruments that trade like equity securities on public stock exchanges like the Singapore Exchange (SGX) or the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).
They are known as index funds because they are designed to track the performance of an index. Popular ETFs include the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), which tracks the popular and widely-followed S&P 500 Index in the US, and the Nikko AM STI ETF (G3B), which tracks Singapore's Strait Times Index.
Because they aim to provide investors exposure to an index, they are also known in the investment industry as having 'beta' exposure, whereby beta refers to market risk.
No active management is required on the part of the index fund provider as compared to actively-managed strategies run by investment professionals. Hence, passive investors utilise index funds to build their portfolios and to collect the returns that broad market indexes deliver over time.
Due to their lower expenses, they have become popular among many investors in recent years.
Obviously, the downside of investing via index funds is that you only get what the market delivers (since they track the performance of market indexes).

Smart Beta index funds started coming into inception when the demand for an alternative to traditional ‘passive investing’ rose, leading industry practitioners and providers to devise alternative solutions to cater to this demand.

the ship has sailed. should have jumped in T+7 after the election results came in. right now you may be riding on the apex of the wave which may not go alot higher or maybe it will come down.
*
the jump of NAVs is just abt 2 ~ 3% since election for these 2 funds....
if those that still believes the effect of Trump policies can be positives to US growth...then this 3% is just starting point.
if those that wanted in b'cos of the need for it in the portfolio.....does not mind this 3%
if those does not need it NOW,...will says let it drops another 15%

Kapchai fund still can go in ? Or wait
*
depending of how much % you wanted it to constitute in your portfolio.....
if you currently has less than 5%,...I would say yes...can still go in
if you currently has > 10%, ...I would say yes....wait a while more then decide.
if you have > 20%, I would say yes.......if you can stomach that heavy allocation and have other none so high risk investment......
if you have >50%, I would say yes......if you know what you are doing.
if you have >80%, I would say yes......if this % in RM terms is just kacang to you.
so it depends....
