well i prefer less wire management... so maybe any good wireless camera to recommend?
*
I'd recommend foscam c2/iq200 but for some reason the price has tripled since last time I bought it, not sure why
1080p, got rtsp, email alerts and everything else

There's also xiaomi cameras, got apps but it's pretty locked down (no rtsp, email, just app alerts)
You're aiming to use with nvr or just store videos on ipcam's sdcard?

Synology. Something new to me. It supports Hikvision cameras? Sounds like a NAS + cloud storage. You don't use an NVR?
Lets say if you use Cross cable LAN on your NVR without router, does that mean you connect the NVR straight to a PC not router?
Mind sharing what are kerbio, motion eye and zoneminder? Are they like 3rd party surveillance apps? Anyway, I tried using the Hikvision motion detection thingy, can't seem to have any notification to the IVMS app.. not sure whether I am doing it right.
*
I don't really intend to connect to pc, just cameras directly to nvr.

Kerbio and others are linux based surveillance apps that support any 3rd party cameras.
You can install on boards like raspberry pi for minimum power consumption. i tested zoneminder, motioneye back then but there was thjs few seconds delay with full hd live stream (especially when you enable motion detection).
Not sure if they've improved now.
Kerbio is new app that looks interesting and i haven't try it out yet

For ivms, did you add your dns or home ip address for your nvr in the setting? For me what I did was add the actual ip address for nvr at home, enable alarm.
Then replace the ip address with dns name.

Do you park your car outside your house?
So you plan to place the camera near your gate?

it is really good.after watching my friends spending 5-7K.giving up after 2 years.one of the reason high electricity bill.synology is low powered energy saving.
the thing with synology's surveillance camera, there are constant software support.my personal opinion ,that is the most important.as for the license.it gave you 2 free license when you purchase a unit.you can get a 4 license package from lazada-with some bank promotion, you get a good bargain.
*
Have you tried other linux based surveillance software?
How would you compare them with synology?

Yeap 1 car inside 1 car outside.. i plan to install at the porch where i can see both car..
*
Then you properly don't need the whole setup.
One wifi camera should be enough.
There's xiaomi mijia with 360 degree rotation if want to monitor at different angle
One more is xiofang for around rm100, records in 1080p, got smoke detector built in too.

Xiaomi mijia and yi is different?

Different but still using the same mi home app.
Also, If wall outlet a bit too far from the camera location, you could just grab usb cable extender.

Have anyone used PoE splitter before?

I am trying to connect non-POE camera to NVR which supports PoE. But then I bought two poe splitters from taobao recently, seems like fried after i plug them into the NVR.

NVR 7108N-SN/P
Camera DS-IPC-B32-I3
Poe Splitter
https://world.taobao.com/item/526279954114....59727.16.XJY3At
*
Using that for almost all my camera setup
But i only connect to external poe switch, don't have nvr with poe ports
Btw, can you connect to ezviz cloud on your nvr?
Just tested digi broadband, portforwarding is blocked by default. But if nvr connect to cloud, then no problem to view live stream outside home network

Anyone can help with my hikvision NVR which i recently change to maxis and is not working with IVMS.
Already asked maxis to open up public IP but still not working.
Internal Wifi can view remotely but once change to mobile data it will not work on remote viewing via IVMS

Have you setup porforwarding on your router?

i unable to decide using xiaomi wireless or hkvision system dvr.
priority is house safety. what is pro and con. Thanks bro
*
Xiaomi wireless:
Cheaper
Newer mijia cameras has priority area detection (mijia 1080p not 360 version)
You get 6 sec video motion alerts
Can save to nas/samba share/sdcard
No need decoder
Integrated with mi home security, so you can also get mi door sensor, motion sensor for extra protection
Live stream is optimized and great for streamyx users with 0.5mbps upload speed

Cons:
Not exactly waterproof/weatherproof but should be fine indoors & certain outdoor location that's shady/not directly exposed to weather
You can only use their xiaomi apps to access the cameras (technically you still can 3rd party app, just need to hack firmware)

Hikvision
Expensive (obviously)
Higher picture quality, especially with >4mp camera (you can see samples at youtube)
Decoder is optional, but better if you want hours of archive footage (needs bigger hdd for longer recording time depending on bitrates) & ease of control for multiple cameras
Needs wiring done

Pros:
Much more flexibility & control with camera settings
Can use hikvision apps or 3rd party to view camera feeds
Can connect to ups for continuous recording when power's out

Still got base alarm system at home.
*
I'd recommend you get this model
A lot better than 720p version, can upgrade firmware with no issues

Hi,

Hopefully u can share some information on the above friend..smile.gif

Does this Mijia able to connect and view by 2 phones at one time?

Can it be view using computer and videos save in computer?

Can view or connect 4 camera ?
Thanks in advance  thumbup.gif

Yes

Yes, for mijia you'll need to download yi home camera for windows (china version)

You mean multiple cctv view? Only on the windows app
Normally only can view 1 camera at a time and you need to switch to another one on the phone app

Anyone mind sharing which UPS you're using with your cctv setup?
I found a few on lazada like this

https://www.lazada.com.my/right-power-ups-b...0.0.Q2LyAG&ff=1

I also browse other forums about their ups feedback with cctv, and something like APS 1500va was able to power 8 poe cameras + 1 nvr + 2tb hdd for more than 2 hours

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2509177

arju
Regarding my last comparison for ipcamera
Technically you can use ups with yi wifi home camera, like this

Aha, same like mine
I got them from this taobao shop, cheaper than ebay/aliexpress so far

So you're using a multilanguage nvr too? Like DS-7808N?

Recording by Synology's Surveillance Station.
My personal testing and concluded that motion detection from
Synology better and precise than Hilvision. No unnecessary recording.
*
The license fee is quite expensive though
Can buy one 4/5mp camera for each license sweat.gif

How precise is synology motion detection?
Like if there's shadows, rain, leaf blowing etc
Are the motion detected recordings in maximum 3/4mp quality?
