Hey guys,

Just got my used proton suprima. I noticed the bluetooth audio quite bad (low bitrate and lacks of bass). Is this normal?
*
Did you buy your songs, or you downloaded them? All of my songs which I bought through iTunes don't have any quality issues via Bluetooth. The only issue is the head unit bluetooth isn't very stable, so i gave up using it.

I'm using spotify. I used bluetooth audio with my previous car, didn't have any issue with sound quality. But my suprima bluetooth audio quality sounds tinny. Its annoying lol.
Mine is suprima S btw. Not sure if the head unit got issue. No problem with radio sound quality though
*
Checked the equaliser setting already? I'm not sure if software can cause this issue, but you can get yours updated at any service centre if the version isn't 7.84.

Alternatively get a good quality Aux cable (even though it's not convenient). I got one made by someone here for rm60 last time.

Found my SS got burning smell during speeding. Any idea?

I believe it's normal, but check around your engine to see if engine oil is leaking out. It normally occurs around the rocker cover.

After 1 week driving SS, i would say that SS is the best proton car ever.
Everyday driving this car make me feel so happy although i have some issue with rear bonet can't open, front sensor and rear sensor is not working , headlamp masuk air, when braking the car will vibrate  cry.gif  cry.gif But, it was fixed by Proton COSE  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

Overall , it is a great car  rclxm9.gif

Full city drive, i can get 9.6l/100km .. wish can get below 9 hahaha !!

Congrats. Make full use of the warranty, take good care of the engine/gearbox, and it should be mostly OK for the long run. Get an oil catch tank installed soon to prevent oil residue build-up in your turbo and intercooler.

After every drive, be sure to let the car idle for at least 30 seconds with the air-cond set to the coldest, blower speed set to around 4, and windows open. This will force the radiator fan to run, which will cool down the turbo/CVT. I leave mine for at least a minute, up to 10 if I've been driving hard or long distances. Never had the radiator fan come on after engine shutdown.

why not just get a turbotimer (delay off) to force the fan to spin for x minute after power off?
i thought the original will spin fan after power off
*
It will. It's to allow the oil to keep flowing and prevent engine oil coking from occurring due to high temperatures especially in the turbo. This car runs really hot even after a short time.

anyone encounter this before ? bila bawa dekat jalan yang tak rata or jalan bumpy, dekat indicator akan keluar notification bagitau front hood tak rapat tapi bila check front hood dah tutup rapat. apa masalah dia ya ?
*
If your hood is closed, it's switch problem. Ask SC to replace or try pushing it multiple times to see if it helps. It's located beside the air intake

Just to share,  sweat.gif finally fixed my engine vibration issue happened everyday at cold start even afternoon and evening. The engine vibration can be felt from steering wheel and even can feel something loose from dashboard or in the engine compartment. The vibration only settle down after running the engine hot and even when it's hot can still feel something not right. Did throttle chemical cleaning but it did not solve the issue. Finally changed the gearbox (RM160+) and engine (RM170+) mounting and boom problem solved and now felt like driving a new car  rclxm9.gif . It seems like the mounting only last me for about 4 yrs. Hopefully the new mounting from different Proton supplier can last longer compare to old mounting which was told that previous supplier provide low quality mounting.
*
Did you replace the bottom mountings as well? Apparently the top two mounts won't last long if the bottom ones aren't replaced together

I've been doing 1 step starts since a long time ago. 3 steps is really stupid for a car with push start. Might as well just save cash and put an ignition barrel. Occasionally get the double signal but I haven't suffered from problems.

The boost is noticeable. Won't make the car super fast but it's much better than original.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Good luck with your upgrade.
*
Speaking from my experience, MBO helps more on mid range power. On stock form you'll probably find that the power is mostly more towards 4000 rpm before it starts moving as fast as you expect it to. With MBO 2000 to 3000 RPM becomes much more usable. Top end is improved, but you'll still run out of puff after reaching around 200km/h, so don't expect to win any Myvis even with MBO.

Hello all,

Suprima come with 5 year Eco tint warranty, if i wanted to add on another layer of black tinted with Eco tint also. Will the new tinted at Eco tint void my current 5 year Eco Tint warranty?
*
No idea about this, but I'd suggest replacing the tint altogether as it may end up peeling off after 2 to 3 years. It's not that good even though they claim that it's a high-end tint.

kekeke.. i bet you enjoy when the car can achieve 205 Nm of torque just at 2000-4000 rpm, while non turbo car only achieve max torque near to 5-6K of rpm.

and also when depart from toll, always the fastest one.
*
Be careful if you accelerate like that consistently.. otherwise you will be the fastest to masuk workshop besides that

If you experience knocking, stick to 97. I use 97 only as mine knocks pretty badly with 95, no matter what brand

hmmmm. i was looking at youtube for some example of knocking sound, however i cant differentiate it. any good example of the sound to see if our engine got knocking or not?
*
One example I can think of... older cars like iswara/saga trying to accelerate in what seems to be a gear too high... there is a sound that appears under this condition that I believe is engine knocking noise

Two screws on the bottom, one for the power window console, two behind the silver trim at the top. Remove trim carefully due to shit plastic used.

Normally tyres, either balancing or tyre problem. Your car is on contisportcontact 3?

I changed all of mine to ps4 within 2000km as 3 of 4 were out of shape. Only got 100 per tyre when trading in

1. Service history

If previous owner followed the schedule given by Proton and didn't bother topping up for better engine oil, it may have sludge issues which can lead to turbo failure. Can be dealt with by cleaning everything out but still not recommended since you dont know how long the owner has been driving the car under such condition for. Check other important things too like cooling system condition, warranty history (oil cooler hose, fan harness, cvt damper, etc.

2. Gearbox condition

Most people dont know how drive a car with CVT gently off the line, and with Punch it's worse since there's a engagement delay due to it being clutch based. Some proton foreman that dont know how to fill the gearbox fluid to the correct level, which can reduce lifespan even more. You need to bring someone experienced for this.

If you urgently need a car, might not be a good choice since it requires an in depth analysis as quite a few things can go wrong with this car.

Trying to keep this car in a tip top condition can break your wallet, and parts don't last as long as expected, which is normal for Proton's own stuff.. Their service cost comparison vs competitor cars don't take into account when things break or how long parts last for, which when taken into account can get really expensive.
