My head unit just died with a loud popping sound

How long is the warranty for the head unit?

If cannot claim warranty, what is the best head unit that is compatible with the steering wheel control and reverse camera/sensor and also front sensor?
*
Not sure how long is the warranty. You can re use the reverse camera but the front and rear parking systems probably won't work without rewiring and a CAN decoder/adapter.

Visit EA Autoworks. Very good workmanship.

Edit: I searched for head units with Parking Displays on Google and it seems like some aftermarket units have it.

Brothers,

Planning to install oil catcher tank and HID lights for my Suprima. Where would you guys suggest and will it void my warranty?
*
EA Autoworks. They have both.

They also have an LED kit which seems to be better than HID *(Osram Xenarc), so consider that too

Sifus,

Im currently consider to buy a used suprima s. If i were to test drive a used suprima, what aspect should i check to make sure that the car is ok? 🤔
*
Gearbox.. most important because if there's no warranty it'll cost you a fair amount even for just a repaired/reconditioned unit. Try to get someone experienced* to help you with this as describing the symptoms of a worn-out or bad gearbox won't really help you identify it easily as it's mostly from feeling and/or hearing. The second would be the turbo unit and its oil feed lines as some owners do not spend much on their car maintenance, and most like to drag, so if it's full of sludge, you may want to check that it still can be brought back to good health by servicing.

Some others include engine/transmission mounts which normally spoil quickly, and suspension depending on how the previous owner drove it and/or how much load they normally carry. The ones that like to fly over bumps and drive fast over rough roads will probably have caused their suspension to wear out quickly (especially the rear section).

Try to bring someone who's familiar with the Preve/Suprima to help you. If not, try to arrange to bring the car to a reputable workshop familiar with the Preve/Suprima and get them to do a thorough checking for you.

*Experienced as in familiar with the Punch CVT gearbox and its characteristics and how it feels like when it's not healthy, not someone who is familiar with other cars with Auto Gearboxes and etc.

Awesome bro but does it void my warranty

Yes, unless the service centre closes one eye.

Remove it if you have to claim your headlamp(s).

Hi guys just got my new  SS premium (2017 stock) yesterday! So far satisfied with the cars performance, however found out the parking sensors (front n back) not working 😞. Just sent to Seremban Proton Edar to check.  Are the steering wheel controls (paddle shifter, volume controls) illuminated at night? I asked the SA and he said no. I was surprised by this as I thought this was common in most cars (I used to drive a VW). Can anyone confirm this?
*
No illumination.

Guys wanna ask if your guys experienced where after toue reverse the car, put D then hv to wait for about 2sec then car only will move? I did the clutch adaption, it helps but only short period of time.

Does the new ecu update helps on this issue?

QUOTE(khairilyazit @ Jun 1 2018, 11:55 AM)
Guys.. there is currently no new update released yet.. latest update is 2015..
*
The update is listed as Service Fix A. The latest software is meant to solve any stalling issues some owners may have. It also makes low speed crawling much less jerky.

Anyone with experience, can share what is the symptom of cvt problem?

this afternoon, i was going out of parking lot, halfway out suddenly the car not moving at all...i saw some sign on the dashboard..(at that time i only tought that was handbrake sign...maybe stuck or something)...so turn off engine and start again, everything normal again...after a while i realise its not handbrake sign...open up manual, and its definately cvt sign...after that until now, the cvt sign never appear again....but kinda scared lah...nak raya dah ni....just did my 60k service last week
*
Bring back to the service centre to check. 60,000KM service involves changing the CVT fluid and filter, and perhaps they did not perform the CVT Fluid levelling process or did not do it properly.

Don't add anything inside your CVT. Even if there's no warranty don't simply add. Just replace regularly and/or go for higher end synthetic CVT fluid suitable for Proton's Punch CVT.

EZL799 compatible should be ok. Thought it was an additive since there was nonslip written. My bad.

Anyway, I'm on ROCK oil sold by EA Autoworks. Personally don't feel any difference from proton original cvt fluid but based on the boss's experience it helps his damaged cvt a lot.

Last week at my regular sc, khasiat jati in keramat, two things i specifically told them to check apart of doing the 70k service...the sponge thing in aircond vent, and to update firmware.
They told me afterwards that they checked aircond thing and just clear some debris..they even say nothing needed to be replaced..... Secondly on the firmware, they confirmed that im on the old firmware version, but they dont have the equipment to do upgrade..
Somehow, i suspected they are just lazy and just want to do the normal servicing stuff...if anyone think khasiat jati is a good sc, please let me know coz im started considering finding another sc
*
Go to COSE. Everything confirm have, but most of the time will be slow.

Thank for the heads up...
the foam not covered by warranty?
on the ecu update, im in another sc at setapak now, updating my ecu

on another matter, my usual sc also says that they cant reset the mileage service reminder accordingly.. ie after service, next one is after 10k km, but they cant set it to 10k...in my case, they can only manage to set it to 6917km..
*
It was covered under warranty for my case. In fact they just did mine when they were trying to solve my "dashboard noise" since I was complaining about some dashboard noise which was actually not from the dashboard.

QUOTE(arthman @ Sep 9 2018, 09:56 AM)
Good day guys.

Currently in the process of getting my loan approved for Suprima S 2017.

I would like to ask, is there anything I should ask the SA, before proceeding with the purchasing the said car, since it would a 2017 model. Anything like changing of battery, engine oil, since it was an older model.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
*
1) Battery
2) Wipers
3) Tyres
4) All exterior trim pieces like plastic/rubber which may have deteriorated under the sun such as rear wiper arm

I don't think they will change the engine oil for you since it's for the engine break-in period, but you can try asking about this. Maybe you can get them to change all other fluids like power steering, brake, coolant and etc since the car has been sitting for quite a long time.

Hi need opinion from suprima owner...is the car mechanically reliable? Whats the common issue with suprima S?

I plan to purchase 2015-2016 used suprima s to replace my 2005 wira se. My alternative to suprima S is 2014-2015 cerato 1.6 / new myvi (waiting list damn long)
*
Common issues:
1) OCH
2) Short engine/transmission mounting lifespan

Issues to look out for:
1) CVT failure
2) Turbo failure

Engine is normally very reliable, and the Turbo will be reliable if the owner has had the car serviced regularly and with decent engine oil as a minimum.

CVT failure is not super common, but it could happen especially if the previous owner can't adapt to a clutch based CVT, if the CVT is always heavily stressed by aggressive acceleration at low speeds and etc.

Radio unreliable. Otherwise everything else is normally OK. Start button system sometimes glitchy but there are no adverse effects on vehicle.

does the recall is just recently?

Not sure when they started it. You can call COSE with your chassis number to confirm if yours is included. I asked about mine when I went there, and mine requires replacement too. They did not send me any SMS, so if you want the new just call or walk in and ask.

Hi everyone.

Newby here. Is there somebody who bought 2017 Suprima S? 'Cause I want to ask an honest opinion/review etc regarding Suprima S 2017 version. Recently I just came across an ad in Mudah.my selling a showroom edition of Suprima S (mileage 5k) at 43k MYR? Is it the best buy for me, considering the price point which is now lower than 50k, as the price is my main concern here as I just newly employed and a fresh grad as well. Planning to buy a new Persona but as monthly, it will cost me around 550MYR and above so I want to opt for a better option, which is Suprima S I believe due to its outstanding safety features.

And I would glad to know if there's anybody here could share the annual maintenance cost as well as the FC for city driving. Well, working in Penang, to face a heavy traffic is kinda like a norm.

So that's it, I do really appreciate all the comments review etc. Wishing everyone a very nice day and thank you very much.
*
Don't buy unless you have lots of money to pay for fuel and servicing. Heavy jam means you'll probably only get over 300km or even less with 40L+ of fuel.

Persona has a good safety rating as well.

EA Auto for the oil catch tank. Not the cheapest around but their after sales and workmanship is better than every other shop I've went to so far.

For throttle body cleaning, no idea. Try to ask someone called thundercid god in this forum. He is the one who sells this

Very well said bro thank you so much for the feedback. Yaaa i agreed with you. To have a decent car with a guy with little wallet like us, Suprima is a good choice i guess. BTW i'll follow all your guide if I will decide to buy this so called show room car somewhere in the future. Thank you again bro.
*
It is not a bad car. It is not very good as it's mostly let down by low quality interior parts and poor workmanship. Other mechanical parts could also be problematic like the steering rack for me, which I have already replaced at least twice and which I am currently pushing for a third replacement.

Of course.. this is just my experience. Yours could be a very good one, especially if you are not picky like I am. Just about every car my family owns has issues to me. To them there is nothing wrong with their car.

bro, what is the issue with your rack? im curious, because i have been trying to diagnose a problem with my car. im almost looking at the rack being part of the issue. internally seems to have freeplay. not the tie rod and tie rod end, but the rack it self seems to have some free play. just curious what issues you have with yours. recently i was looking at a 2017 suprima, the rack colour is different, wonder if its a new improved unit or it is just the colour.
*
Noise issue, when turning and when cornering + on road with uneven surface. As far as I noticed, the rack seems to have black plastic pieces on each end compared to my first one. Still having issues however.
