E-J@1: if you mean front audio/USB/1393 ports, i think 2.5" so only can install card reader or fan controller. if 5.25" then install VFD panel lor

VFD panel: VLSystem M.Play Blast and Thermaltake Media LAB

Since u guys r talking about the TJ06. Here's a looooooooooovely TJ06 mod. My favorite TJ06 mod in fact. Check out what he did for his wire management. Solid copper rails for the 12, 3.3, 5 n 0V lines! It's absolutely Fergulicious.

ianho: the TJ06 case front design look more nicely then TJ09, but not fully aluminium case.... too bad, otherwise i will get 1. btw got any internal picture?
*
Well, it doesn't always hafta b full aluminum to be a nice case. The TJ06 is a fantastic case if ure the type who uses a stock HSF on the CPU. That windtunnel does an exceptional job of cooling the stock HSF. Also the semi aluminum construction makes the case affordable.

i wanna see how the internal wire management done la, you didn't read ka?

Well, I dont think ure gonna haf a chance to c his method of making the rails. He sold the rights to Ultra Power Supplies. They're already at prototype stage from what I've read.

I think they're already going to use it for their upcoming carbon fiber casing:

They're calling it the Patented Power Distribution System. biggrin.gif

That definitely looks way safer and I guess that will be the new concept in terms of case designs. I wonder when those chinamen case makers will come up with a cheaper copy/version of that idea. It is a confirm boon for case modders and overclockers as it reduces cable mess.

It looks safer, but I have to say, the [H]ardForum dude's acrylic + copper version looks cooler. laugh.gif Altho I'm not putting too high hopes on this case because Ultra tends to be a company that focuses more on bling and less on function.

Not too sure if the rails will shock you, but the modder himself said that he did not get shock when he was touching the rails even when the power was switched on. There's no (or less, I forgot blush.gif ) heat emitting from the rails. laugh.gif

Impressive mod I should say. I like it too drool.gif

Btw, is the heat dissipation of SECC same as aluminum?

Not really, as the casing does not come in contact with the computer components. A casing's heat dissipation is purely dependent on the airflow of the casing. Correct me if i am wrong. smile.gif

not really need to in contact actually. heat need to travel in a medium.so, it can travel via air and also can get through metal.in this case, just when it travel from air to metal, sure Alu which have better heat dissipation properties can dissipate out the heat from the case well...at least this is what i learn after 3 years become materials engineering student... biggrin.gif

Oh, ok. But let's say you have a very good airflow in the case, then the air circulation would bring majority of the heat out of the casing instead of dissipating through the alu panel right? So the material only affects at most 1-2 C? smile.gif

Btw, i am not doubting your knowledge, just wanna know more. Sorry if i've offended you in anyways. notworthy.gif

haha...i'm not offended la.we are here to share aour knowledge right??yess, u r right.that's what i mention earlier, air circulation will help the most to vent out the heat.so, if u have good/improved air circulation inside ur case, heat prob no more.... thumbup.gif

Guys,

what about the color, coz I remember last time in physics class, it says black is quick in heat release and also heat absorption while silver resists the high better while release heat less quick too. How true does this applies to the casing colors ?

Edit: Or was that in thermodynamics or chemistry class ?

Many moons ago...some site did a direct comparison between the alu and steel identical Chenming chassis.

The results --> Exactly the same temp.

So.. NO... not even 1-2C (which is margin of error anyways)

Here's a Silverstone Strider 560W I just did. Pure black industrial looks. No fancy schmancy colors. Pure machoness n power! tongue.gif

user posted image

Here's the standard Strider. Semi sleeved. The SATA n molex wires r not sleeved. I also changed the molex plugs to Vantec plugs.

All done. Everything nice n black now. thumbup.gif I absolutely love that matt black look of the PSU.

ianho,

Just wondering, is the 2nd pic you posted of the ST56F is the originally sleeved one or you already done some sleeving there?I am interested in getting it myself sometime soon...Thanks

And does those fan from Silverstone like FM121/122 and FM82 noisy?I wanted to get 2 as an exhaust and front intake but i do not want something that is noisy.I would like a silent setup myself..Thanks..

The middle pic is how it comes from the factory. It's semi sleeved. All sleeved except teh SATA n molex. The Silentmatics I haf on the TJ07 r really quiet. I dunno bout the others coz havent tried. U can always reduce the speed n it shudn be an issue.

The FM-122 and FM-82 I don't know, but the FM-121 can consider not very noisy, I can only heard some whoming sound when full speed, if you want very silent, just turn the speed slower abit from the fan controller and you hardly heard any sound...I think is about 1200rpm (full speed about 2400rpm++) something like that will be silent...

@ianho
uncle, what is the model for the silentmatic fan? seem can't be find at silverstone website...is it come together with the TJ-07? unsure.gif

Check out silverstonetek.com, everything is there,

FN are normal fans but quite silent if compare to OEMs one
FM are sensor and volume controlling, silent too - vibration free

That right. @RM 349.00 ( SRP). Cheap and also very powerful. The only disadvantage is semi-sleeved, just like uncle ianho said.

BTW, ianho, u'll be exhibiting ur modded TJ07 at the upcoming event in end of March ?

Dont worry, the Olympia has an auto fan speed controller built in. At low loads it spins slowly, hi loads it will spin faster.

It's basically the Silverstone LC-18 casing but with a window for the Raptor X HD replacing the 7" LCD touchscreen monitor. Saw this a couple months back somewhere online.

This casing should be able to hold 6 HDs (5 for the LC-18, the extra HD would be the one in the window). 2x80mm intake fans just under the HD cage (look carefully in the picture and you can see it) and 2x 80mm exhaust fans.

Quite interesting, but I prefer the monitor for my HTPC rig. Just ordered the LC-18 a couple days ago.

Actually LC17 & LC18 are the same chassis, but LC18 comes with pre-modded LCD,

But CW01-WD is actually from CW01, different model that look similar to LC17

Yup, then who say HTPC cant mod? tongue.gif

I think should be cheaper than LC18, since there is no expansive hardware like LCD, just card reader in advantage, HTPC mah...

The LL bezel can only be used on a LL case. No other case fits coz of the way it mounts.

Haha.. Well I've recently joined the Silverstone owners' league smile.gif Taken some pics of my work in progress cases, but forgot to bring them to office to upload doh.gif (no internet at new home yet).

Just to whet your appetite, here's my specs for my Home Entertainment PC (not HTPC coz it's not connected to a HTS):

SG-01 Evolution
Athlon AM2 3800+ with Silverstone NT-06 Lite (fanless!)
Asus M2NPV-VM (onboard video - GF6150, onboard sound)
2x1GB Patriot DDR2/800 RAM (cheap!)
320GB Seagate 7200.10 HD
Silverstone ST60F PSU (modular PSU)
3x 80mm "silent" cooling fan (1x Silverstone, 2x CoolerMaster)
Runs Vista Home Premium
Once I have found my VFD unit and remote; and maybe one more "cool" factor item for the 2nd drive bay, I will move it to pair with a 32" Samsung LCD TV and a Pioneer mini-hifi DVD unit.

My HTPC (still in assembly stage):
Silverstone LC-18 (7" touchscreen LCD)
C2D E6600 + Zalman CNPS9700 LED
Abit AB9 QuadGT
2x 1GB Kingston DDR2/800 + heatspreaders
3x 320GB Seagate 7200.10 HD
Silverstone ST75F PSU (modular PSU)
4x 80mm "silent" fan (2x Silverstone, 2x CM)
Leadtek 7100GS silent (fanless) - for the touchscreen LCD
Creative X-Fi Elite Pro
Lite-On DVD-RW

Need to source:
XFX 7950GT (fanless) - main video card
Hauppage WinTV PVR500

Gaming Rig [planning/ordering stage]:
Silverstone TJ-07
[other specs still under wraps for now.. heheh]

Pictures... next week!

The Zalman is not uber expensive. The Silverstone ppl told me it's nowhere near rm1800 in Taiwan. They almost choked when I told them there's a Zalman going for rm1800. laugh.gif It's just that the local fellas here sell so expensive.

Last time i checked, aluminum was something like RM12 per kg only. Haha, even my dad made a comment about some of these computer stuffs being a little overpriced. Can't blame those guys for chocking (or doing cartwheels for that matter) haha.

From left to right:

1. SG-01: NT-06 Lite heatsink installed on CPU. Note that NT-06 = NT-06 Lite plus 120mm fan. I actually bought the NT-06 and took the fan off for this installation.
2. SG-01: NT-06 Lite + ST60F PSU is perfect fit in SG-01. The 120mm intake fan for the PSU lines up almost perfectly for the NT-06, so it draws air into PSU through the heatsink, resulting in a fanless situation. Also if you install the NT-06 Lite inside the SG-01, you will not have space for the FX-121 cross flow fan.
3. SG-01: All the parts installed (minus VFD stuff), and minor cable routing work. Will do more extensive cable routing when I install the VFD.
4. LC-18: That LCD is sweet! rclxm9.gif but note to self (and anyone else interested) - Zalman CNPS9700 LED heatsink does NOT fit inside the LC-18 doh.gif

sad.gif that NT-06 really doesn't leave space much for cross flow fan cry.gif

agree with u, u need some serious cable routing in this case, this case is a tough case to manage laugh.gif but i'm pretty sure u'll do manage it better than that nod.gif

If the impact can smash the casing with steel + alu then its not normal crash or something heavy placed on it,

And he/she ship it as a parcel i guess, so people dont handle it with care sad.gif

Actually he can as the shipping company to cover his lost doh.gif

Not only quality, most importantly is, it's made on an Alu plate, fits any Silverstone cases and gives other cases the extra 'bling'. thumbup.gif

Traveller, change the direction of the NT06 to point at the RAM side, then u can fit the FX121. I've done it oledi yesterday. I'll upload some pics later.

This was my original installation, but I noticed that doing it this way would not center the PSU fan over the NT-06. Have been running it without the FX121, and the NT-06 is barely warm (as opposed to the stock heatsink which was noticeably warm). Did you notice any change in temps or noise?

I'm going to leave mine as is and run it without the FX121, as the PC is going into my bedroom as a media PC, so I like it as quiet as possible (PSU fan, 3x silent fans, 1x Seagate 7200.10 HD; are the main noise generators). Will probably add some sound absorbing material when I get some in next month.

Going to get another 2 FM121 and those 3 in 1 fan controller. I dont know what is called. hehe
*
Wow, nice... the other 2 FM-121 is for exhaust or intake? Should work great with your Lian Li (is it? I don remember is Lian Li or Silverstone liao... tongue.gif ) casing... icon_rolleyes.gif
QUOTE(jy14 @ Mar 27 2007, 02:46 AM)
Not only quality, most importantly is, it's made on an Alu plate, fits any Silverstone cases and gives other cases the extra 'bling'.  thumbup.gif
*
But if put in CM Centurion 532 casing, it does not fit well as it is too short...will leave a hole there for dust to get in... sweat.gif

QUOTE(blackshirt @ Mar 27 2007, 07:09 AM)
FYI You can get FP33 for replacement of controller because it has 3 + 3 controlling front and back, no need la put so many floppy bay tongue.gif
*
You mean it have 6 controller? Wow, that will be great if the have many fan inside casing need to control, else can just get the 3 controller should be enough liao gua... icon_rolleyes.gif

Threads merged.

NICE. I really like the way it looks now. Much much better than the TJ09's front which looked too simple. Now they've gone back to the old skool look. Very nice but I was expecting an all new model rather than a facelift.

halo guys, Jus got myself a silverstone Tj-07...But still lazy to put all the hardwares inside the case... oh yeah, It's a Black color with a side window panel... I personally Do not like much how The side panel looks like.... The way the acrylric panel is attached is not that nice.... We can see the screws from outside.... I like more when it perfectly Fits the cut and the screws cant be seen from outside.... But of course and the Only one, this case is Very amazing... it's not a waste buying this case... Bravo tj-07

hi ive got a problem with my FM122 fan. Lately its been spinning at around 2000rpm and the noise is driving me crazy. The fan is manually controlled by the controller and not by motherboard. sometimes it does spin below the range but just for a brief moment then it spins back up to around 2000rpm again.

any idea what's going on?

All the Sugos use MATX. Even the TJ08 is slightly taller oso uses MATX. No choice, for space efficiency must use MATX.

Dont think the LITE version of the NT06 is available in Malaysia. I tried searching for it before but all of them comes with the fan itself...

Anyway, i am not a big fan of SFF/MATX casing before but after seeing the SG03, DAMN..I fell in love with it. So wanted to purchase the casing until i saw it only support MATX mobo cry.gif Damn, my next rig is definitely going to be on MATX setup and SG03 is going to be the first item i get (if there is a next rig..lol..)..

The NT06 unit is the same thing. Just remove the fan. U can always use the fan on the front for intake.

Yes, basically they are the same thing. Just the LITE version is without the fan. Its design for SS's SFF casing where the HSF utilizes the PSU's fan..

Do inform me after you get the price ok. Kinda interested..So wish i could cramp in all my hardwares inside..LOL..ANyone mod a MATX casing to ATX before sweat.gif ?

Dont think the LITE version of the NT06 is available in Malaysia. I tried searching for it before but all of them comes with the fan itself...

Anyway, i am not a big fan of SFF/MATX casing before but after seeing the SG03, DAMN..I fell in love with it. So wanted to purchase the casing until i saw it only support MATX mobo  cry.gif Damn, my next rig is definitely going to be on MATX setup and SG03 is going to be the first item i get (if there is a next rig..lol..)..

damn i didnt see the word 'lite' there sweat.gif

Just wondering, do SS painit the internal aluminum to black as well? Or they leave it as aluminum color?I hope its the latter..LOL...

Anyway ianho, wondering do you feel its possible for a mod in order to allow the casing to fit ATX mobo?

I dun think that is possible as the size of the casing itself already doesn't fit the length of the ATX mobo.

yup, imagine have to cut the casing in half, add more metal to support the additional size & weight, precise measurement for the pci slots for additional 3 pci slots, gotta find the same exact height of mobo stand off with the default one & yada yada yada

LOL..Beautiful casing there but my eyes are set only on the SG03. Might be getting it and setting up a brand new PC later when my budget is here..Poisoned kaw kaw by the casing..LOL..

Anyway, one question here. From the pictures i have seen of the SG03, its not needed to open the door in order to access the ROM drive right?Cause i saw an exposed 5.25" bay at the front door there. Anyway, if my assumption is right, does LL ROM bezel work on the SG03 cause i do not want the ROM to ruin the beauty of the casing...

Just bought a new toy, Silverstone Temjin 08 biggrin.gif
Really like it a lot because of the size. The front panel is beautiful. However, the paint job of the other steel panels is quite bad. Need to do some modding to make it looks superb.

Anyway, here are some pics to share with.

I am not saying that the paint on Temjin 08 is cheap. I am just used to the concept of having glossy paint for casing above RM300. No offence bro. smile.gif

Hello fellow SS owners rclxms.gif
just bought my TJ09 on monday from moderno, hoping to get TJ07 but no stock, so grab the TJ09 instead.
so now i'm off to install my first WC loop (sponsored by MTZ...on the shipping fee whistling.gif , the rest i paid la tongue.gif ) in that new casing. thumbup.gif

being a first timer or so popularly-known-as n00b blush.gif , i would like to ask if there is anyone has installed a 2x120mm rad internally in this casing.
if yes, please raise your hand and let me know. i would like to PM/MSN/Yahoo! you for the advice.

so far, i like the build and the quality of the casing. but on wire management friendliness it's a shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
i wish i could get the old version of tj09 - the one without the side panel so i can mod it to my liking but what to do...begar cannot be choser!
so, anyone with tj09 and have their WC loop installed with 2x120mm rad inside, pls help out.
thanks notworthy.gif

actually, i've already read those forum especially the hardforum...long listing of posts...wanna ask if there is any LYN member did the same thing...anyway, yesterday i went to the myDIY and get myself 4 pcs of L-bracket and to my surprise, it was like those L-bracket made for holding the rad to the TJ09...i meant the length, the place of the hole...in no time i was able to mount the 2x120mm rad inside, at the top. the slided my mobo tray in...eeeeek! another problem, the damn mobo heatsink at the far right (top) got blocked by the rad...seems like i need to cut the L-bracket a bit to let the mobo (heatsink) pass...the L-bracket is made of alloy i think...tried to drill the hole on it...cannot be done, too hard for the drill or maybe i'm not skill enuff. gonna try it again once got home.

still cannot dril the damn hole...so at the end, i have to remove one of the fan to allow the %^%&%#$ mobo heatsink to pass.
so, that one is DONE.
now the pump...another big problem since i dunno why but my i cannot drill the %^%&%#$ hole to fit the screws cry.gif

probably it's due to the drill...mine is 'Skill' brand...the saleperson said that the one that i bought is 550W and the B&D is 450W, so being a total n00b in this kind of stuff, i took the 550W and it came with all the tools whereas for the B&D only the drill alone, no tools - promotion price, so nothing extra.
anyway, i still have no idea what to do next since the only way for me to install the pump, i need the holes...every TJ09 with WC owner put their pump at the bottom side which is the only logical place to put it.
BTW, Happy Merdeka Day to All!!! rclxms.gif rclxm9.gif

managed to drill the hole finally...it's all my fault...i do have a 'Skill' but i dont have a skill myself tongue.gif
didnt put enuff pressure for the drill to penetrate...
gonna do the leak test shortly after ran into some n00b mistake blush.gif
anyway, will post the pic of my TJ09 with the WC loop tomorrow...if everything goes find. wish me luck! icon_rolleyes.gif

Sure lar. biggrin.gif OP is the top range for the rich buggers. ST is the lower range catering to the enthusiasts on a tight budget.

LOL, i forgot to remove the sticker when installing it. havent cut the piece to actually fit the radiator with the fans. as u can see, i only put one 120mm fan. the other one got stuck with the big-ass mobo heatsink.

bleh.... i find modular PSUs even more messy than normal PSUs.

cable management depends on the user mostly. not the PSU.

the case design also does help with cable management.

modular PSU are great for cable management (purpose of hiding those excessive & unused cables) if u only use couple wires of em...

if all wire use on modular psu, then it's fugly, all wires coming out from everywhere, cable management doesn't come any easier compared to a non-modular psu

it does depend on the psu - hiding the excessive & unused cables, modular psu really nice, neat & easy compared to those non-modular psu (again depends on how many wires u planning to use) ...

other area (around the mobo) managing cable is the same regardless what type of psu u use...
