Sifus,
my last question before proceding to buy Touch Screen Monitor.
at the price of the monitor, we can buy a touch screen netbook/EEE PC.
why dont we just use it?
PC in Car, do any of you have it?

Because you can't fit in the monitor/display to a standard 2-din size on your centre console. If your're happy to diy from an old eepc, the go ahead but you may want to use the internal from your eeepc since the display is using a propietary interface and not standard vga.

So Krools, any update from you?
Anyway, I'm running Win7 on my carpc and it doesn't seem to be stable, while playing a movie, it goes BSOD .. I've no idea if this caused by the Win7 or due to the fan .. I changed the exhaust fan to lower speed one .. Need to take off the carpc from the car once again .. |

Thanks Steven .. for some reason, my itchy hands led me to Win7 .. WinXP was quite stable before .. I've updated the drivers to the latest one from Zotac website (and compared to Nvidia one), so I'm certain that mine has the latest and I'm running the 32-bit version of Win7.
One other thing, resuming from hibernate takes a quite long time compared to WinXP .. in WinXP, it takes usually less than 10s to go from hibernate to operation, but in Win7, it takes more than 40s to be useful. And lastly, I believe I've a bit of problem with the M2-ATX too since sometime, my carpc doesn't hibernate properly and coming up after few minutes I switch off my engine. I've read about this problem on the net and I don't think am the only one that having this problem .. but I need to investigate more. Probably the cable from the ignition doesn't give 0V when I switch off the engine .. probably need to put a pull down resistor somewhere to make sure it will goes 0V when it suppose to. |

Haha, tangkap ulat? or pijat? Anyway, the carpc is now with me in my office, and guess what .. the usbmini.sys causes all the crashes that I've experienced all this while with Win7.. using BlueScreenView, I found that this is USB HID Touchscreen driver, now I nail the BSOD problem I guess.. I need to remove and reinstall the standard driver for it.

PMed!!
Added on July 19, 2010, 12:59 pmWa.. i believe, the touchscreen driver causes the slow resume from hibernate too. I did a test w/o the driver installed, resume is really quick compared when it was installed. Yet to test this in the car though.. So .. two things need to be tested: 1. The touchscreen driver, will install this when I put back the carpc in the car. 2. Pull-down resistor on the ignition wire, so the m2atx won't come alive when I switch off the engine .. Added on July 19, 2010, 1:02 pmNow .. if and only if I could find an external antenna for my wifi Added on July 20, 2010, 8:05 amThe carpc went back to the car yesterday but I'm still getting slow resume from hibernate .. I believe the usb cable that I use to power my GPS causes this.. the GPS has no more battery in it so, I power it up using the usb and from time to time, I kept getting the notification saying the carpc found a usb device which is not recognised .. guess need to find a way to power up the GPS now.
