Hmm. Difficult question because I have around 25 cards.
I mainly change my spending to online/e-wallet so switched to cards which give cash back on these categories. PBB, RHB and Affin are the usual ones.

Yeah on paper only. I hardly pay for any SST, so far FCB VS that I can think of. Usually will get cash rebate from banks to offset.

Only Maybank never offer / insisted no cb to offset SST

Last time M2U had weekend TP at least can use it to redeem SST or vouchers with values > RM50

I waived goodbye to MBB ever since they withdrew weekend TP and Barca VS cb% drop

I still have some points from M2C AmEx which I used to offset my M2C AmEx and M2P cards’ SST. One day when I’m running out of points to offset, I may need to think of another option.

Of course for FCB VS, it doesn’t allow to use points to offset since day 1.

Would like to cancel my FCB card, should I do that before SST is charged? SST will be charged in May and if I cancel now, what about the cashback earned for April?

Option 2: After SST is charged, DO NOT SPEND anything else.

call CS to terminate the card. they can waive the SST due to card termination.

you can request them to transfer the cb to another mbb card (if any) or transfer to your other bank account.

So I can call them in May once I see SST kicks in and request to cancel the card then transfer the cb to other mbb card - as long as I make sure I do not spend a single cent after April?!

If so, that's even better cuz I'm not exactly sure how much cb I'll get for April (but It won't be alot anyways).

My SST will be charged on May,2021.

I call VS line to check the SST & cancellation related questions.

1. After SST charged, even no transaction after SST charge. Cannot be returned.

2. Even today you cancel the card, the rebate will still credit to you next months.

I think the above answer is a bit different here. But I am sure the answer they provided to me not so true.

Any comment or experience?

by right they have to refund u the sst if never use the card. but it will be a tedious process to go through bnm etc. my advice is, if u don't intend to keep the card, and we all know maybank doesn't offer rebate, u might as well cancel it before getting charged.

I second this. Plan the usage and last swipe properly. Such a hassle to deal one.

Maybank a bit strict on the charged SST. they claimed that card that apply after SST implementation are not eligible for refund after SST charged. of course u can challenge them with BNM but would u take the hassle?

SST can be reversed if NO retail transactions occurred after SST has been charged.

already stopped spending way earlier. just maintain ezypay plus for about 2 months.

then I requested for early settlement for 3 ezypayplus (BT to affin duo) so that I can cancel the card later.
