Ewallets nowadays are pretty much superapp. It is not only for payment so you probably have at least touch n go or grab app in your phone anyway. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I agree, and that is a fair statement. I just want to point that the original argument that I was replying to was talking specifically about cashback. I can understand that we are not there yet for one size fits all, but for people who are not bothered by cashback, this is a great solution.

Edit: Some people pointed out already that we can still get cashback from cards added into the wallet, so there's that.

Well, except for tolls anyways. We all know if they want to do it (Paywave) they can, but this is Malaysia we're talking about. biggrin.gif

Nah, wrong. Same technology, but implementation is something else.

Many retailers don't have a clue what is Apple Pay, let alone cash-back.

I suggest that you look up the meaning of "essentially", please don't try to argue about semantics

There's a reason why everyone in the thread so far suggests saying "payWave" to the sellers, because to us end-users and cashiers, they essentially work the exact same way

Maybank has prepared a FAQ specifically aimed at merchants for this very reason: http://web.archive.org/web/20220808110645/...erchant-faq.pdf

I don't see why you insist on taking a contrarian position, if you don't trust or like it, nobody is forcing you to use it

If we're being honest here, who the heck has more than 5 cards from one single bank itself LOL. 10 is probably more than enough quota for the general public.

It is indeed the superapp, but I find using them sometimes is troublesome at best. Especially with bad signal reception, I have a few instance that I had to try to get signal to my phone to just top up the ewallet to make a payment. But with SP(Which is my main payment app atm despite being an Apple user), I've been using it without internet connection on that phone, and it works without internet, granted you won't get real time transaction updates from SP wallet, but if you're using Maybank and MAE, you'll receive a notification nevertheless.

Then us as the adopters should use it more and bring light to people that doesn't know. AP is literally your physical card but with Apple's provided security protecting it. So it's in one or more way better than physical card payments right?

My friend, wrong.

Apple security is not relevant. All other payment methods provide security. And have been using it for many years.

Apple Pay is just a fancy concept with NO advantages, except for ignorant fanboys.

Try with monzo and N26 via ApplePay before (wave amount than RM250, on that time around 320 and 4500) EDC required me to press a PIN then approved

It's not really fancy concept, it's more convenient IMHO. Been using google pay with my overseas card since 5 years ago and I can say I never bring my CC anymore.

And with watch support, in my case garmin pay, it's just easier. Less hassle

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-38...ing-street.html So you're saying something like this is the same as AP? Where it requires your biometrics/PIN input to even allow the card to be read?

Let me correction you dude, Apple security is just a “2FA” which is a better protection compare to other mechanisms and it provide the best user experience besides the security.

Haha.. good for you.

Maybe you don't need to bring your CC anymore in your imagination, but that doesn't apply to other people. It does not work like that locally, does it?

Let me correct you dude.

I was not concerned about super security. But practicality. Thanks.

If I was concerned about security, I would use cash.

I do agree that locally it might be hard initially. But when we went back home last April, I remembered only need my phone/watch for 70% of purchases. Just tap my phone to the terminal and that's it.

As time goes, more people will start using this and that's it.
