as the name of the product might reflect... mr surfacer is a solution that will make the SURFACE of the model smooth and 'paint-able'... mr surfacer is also something like putty, it can covers pin holes as well as major microscopic holes...
do not be afraid my young padawan... I too had my first attempt on my ever-favourite Astray Red Frame... with a little bit of care and creative... it turned out WELL...
*
haha, i'm gonna try a full-spray attempt on astray blue-frame 2nd L tongue.gif
mr.surfacer 1200 -> mr.color -> topcoat gloss -> water decals+lining -> topcoat flat-matt

btw, gundam marker not suitable for full coverage paint, its only gd for minor coloring like very small spots i guess...

now i understand what drybrushing is.

ok, for a MG kit, a bottle of paint is enough? let say if i want to paint my rx93, white as a major color. will a bottle of 10ml paint be enough??

sorry for so many question, just brought up my interest of painting my kit. gile gatal...
*
hand painting tends to be a lot more paint efficient. basically how I did my rx93 currently in progress is...

base color is gray: 50% Tamiya flat white, 50% citadel white + drop in Tamiya black until the mix turns gray.

dry brush white on top until I get the shade that I want.

Basically I mixed about 1/5 of the bottle of Tamiya and 1/5 of the citadel bottle. Still got 1/3 of that mix left over too. Basically, depending on how u do it, one bottle can last you quite a while.

now i am tempted to try it...

maybe will take a vacation from office for a few days just to try this out... gotta plan my leave...

thanx for all who answer my question, really helps. was imagining hiNU in a new color scheme. dats why i was asking paing questions...

now if i can find a way to replace all the decals i've applied on my older kit... i heard the decal are quite hard to find and also very expensive... rite? it comes for each model rite? or just a selected few?

Go Graffiti Toys at TS... near the roller coaster... opposite McD biggrin.gif

last saturday i went... more than 15 units there...

I checked with Edison and he don't have the stock now and was unsure of getting new stock. Luckily, I checked Times Square (Graffiti Toys) today and there was one sitting there right in front of the counter area. I only saw one so I bought it! Thanks for all the help ^^
Hehe gonna give it to my godbro for his birthday~! Coz I went to his house and saw him surfing a Korean model kit site (dalong) (and btw he's Korean) and he showed me and said like this is so cool and stuff (the Strike Freedom Full Burst page).. so I think he'll like it.

Thank you again to everyone that helped me get it! Maybe I should start with model kits too xD

P.S. I've a question though. Is the back supposed to be empty and brown? I'd thought for something so expensive the packaging would include nice things on the back.. Sorry this is my first time buying a model kit..
