QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Feb 2 2007, 09:34 AM)
Well it's just a matter of using the Titans mould and pouring in the same plastic, so there shouldn't be a problem with the AEUG version.

Anyway, good job by BANDAI here to release an improved version of the MKII. At least they are improving on design flaws.
CE lover loathes Astrays? The red, blue, and gold frames are so good-looking it could pwn most of GSD's uninspiring designs. Just to make things clear, Dreadnought is also an Astray according to Lowe (Astray X) while Delta Astray is a total joke.

Anyway, from a gunpla point of view, the 1/100 Astrays have MG-like articulations although the joints are quite loose and fragile. Especially for the blue frame where the backpack is too bulky to be posed. My blue frame had too many freak accidents due to posing - Broke the right arm, broke the pegs of the palms, broke the orange part which holds the dagger... doh.gif

One last thing about Astrays... The torso is too small compared to the fat thighs. Not that it affects the articulation though. Oh yeah, the hole at the back of the torso for the backpack is too small and weak to support gigantic backpacks, hence affecting the model's ability to stand on it's own (unless you bend it slightly forward like a hunchback)... these are problems faced by my blue frame and my friend's Amatu.
*
i have 1 red astray and 1 blue.... still not want to get the gold one though...

not to mention, I still have the following not assembled yet:

- 1/100 NG Blue Frame Astray Gundam
- 1/100 NG Aile Strike Gundam
- 1/100 NG Launcher Strike Gundam
- 1/100 NG Force Impulse Gundam
- 1/100 MG Freedom Gundam

talking about spraying....

i assemble first then spray... parts by parts...
if you are going to buy can sprays from toy city (MV), make sure you kutuk the promoter there kao kao... ask them many many questions...

i bought 1 red and white spray from there, the white one stated for polycarbonate only.. i asked the staff there can it be used on gundams, he said yes.

Yes, it can be used but then do not to anything until the white paint is 110% dry, else it can be peeled off... arghh...

but the red is nice... both Tamiya brand...

XL Shop is having sales now
20% off on the MG Crossbone FullCloth
original price is RM 198
after 20% discount is RM 158.40
but you've to buy another item with any value
you can buy the paint since it's 10% off now

Furthermore you can get to have lucky draw on instant cash rebate for every RM 100 spent
the rebate is range from RM 5 - 50
which means the worst case is you get RM 5 discount for your Crossbone FullCloth
so the final "most expensive" price will be RM 153.40

XL Shop at TS?

do they sell decals?

QUOTE(clivengu @ Feb 11 2007, 02:07 AM)
Hey guys.. Will i die if i Airbrush inside an aircond room?
*
u wont... most probably when u dig ur nose, colorful wax will come out...
(p/s: i have this experience because i used to paint structures, big one, using a airbrush pump as big as the pump u see in the car workshop)

QUOTE(cajun2de @ Feb 11 2007, 02:47 AM)
which paint has better effect on gunpla? is it solvent based or water based

i planning to buy a few but i ain't sure which would produce the best effect
*
QUOTE(fyire @ Feb 11 2007, 03:06 AM)
All of mine r currently done on water based acrylics (mix of Tamiya, Humbrol and Citadel). You'll need to experiment abouts to see what gives u better effects and so forth, as there's no one single correct way.
*
i am now experimenting on water nased. RM6 per bottle at TM

QUOTE(300078 @ Feb 11 2007, 08:47 AM)
U wont die! Ur aircond will die first! The filter of the aircond may most likely be stuck first so dun worry! Wow Crossbone at RM153.4 not bad ehh!

May be going over to BTS today, since i broke my hobby used cutter! Get a replacement. Same time may check up the XL shop over there.
*
hobby cutter (single set) is sold at RM30 at TM....

what i found out after my experiment today... phew.. damn tired

- gundam marker cant be erased if it is painted on a mr hobby color sprayed gundam....

- seriously, mr surface is needed if you wanna spray other colors that is different from the ori color on the plastic...

- water based bottled paint... a bit sucks...

if you guys beg to differ my statements above, feel free to do so... we are all here to learn and share....

1. yup, jz finished lining my SF MG arm units..... found out tat i cant rub da excessive lining on the gold frame which were sprayed v mr.color metallic gold.

2. not reli sure, my color stil kinda ok  laugh.gif (red on blue)
*
1. you ccan use penknife to scrap off the excessive linings... just need to be careful and do it after it dry.. say about 10 minutes after apply...

2. red on blue is ok... red on black? muahaha... i use white as undercoat first then red...

QUOTE(cajun2de @ Feb 11 2007, 07:23 PM)
the gundam marker u guys using for lining is water based rite?
*
blue body.. GM01 and other GM is oil based

QUOTE(cajun2de @ Feb 11 2007, 07:31 PM)
that should easily come off if u use ur hand aft a few secs u apply right....
*
good idea... that will create some weathering effect.... but dont smear it all over

QUOTE(cajun2de @ Feb 11 2007, 07:44 PM)
we havta use special brushes or the normal ones in the shop can do?
*
- the 'bulu' wont come off easily...
- can shape the tip of the brush to be 'sharp' (the sharp tip ones)
- 'tahan lama' if use properly

QUOTE(hokuan @ Feb 11 2007, 07:46 PM)
the blue body gundam marker is oil-based i think..I'm using it..
*
yes, definitely oil based....

hm, i dun dare to scrap LOL... means black body is water?
*
just did the scraping experiment with my 1/100 Force Impulse (yeah, finally i open the box and decided to sit down and do my work)...

i used the mr color primary blue to spray on the blue pieces of my force impulse.... primary blue is lighter, so when you sand the blue sprayed part... u will create the "sort-of-metallic" effect...

oh yeah, black body? thin or fat body?
