Hi guys, will be going to bangkok middle of next month and my first time there. will be travelling with another 2 buddy while meeting another one there.

Just a few question,

1) From the airport (don meung) i were to consider taking taxi which should i choose? normal taxi, uber or grab?

2) The only place i think of going for now is the grand palace. would be going to wat arun and maybe wat pho as well. i think we will be taking sky train there then take the boat ride? how much am i expecting for the boat ride? as some ppl say if we go for tour package will be expensive. i prefer the cheaper option as we dont mind exploring stuff ourselves.

3) Any awesome restaurants to recommend?

4) any good place to recommend for us to visit? will not go to the floating market though

Thank you

4) u like shopping mall ? Zen and Terminal 21 is a nice place to go . Siam centre and Siam Paragon is high end mall like Pavillion KL

there is no sky train going there, you'd have to go saphan taksin to use the chao phraya river express

If solo traveler then public transport.
If go in group better take taxi as it's cheaper.

Taking taxi make sure it's metered. Don't ride those "flat rate" taxi.
Use Google Maps to make sure the routes are the fastest and shortest.

pee aor tom yum is good choice because it unlike other typical Tom yum, more sweet less sour, somebody like it and somebody don't, but I like it tongue.gif

If you want to try the lobster noodle, and want to order small lobster, do come earlier, if late all left is big lobster

Travelling with family, 3 persons. Not sure how sharing uber referral code works..I am quite new to Uber. Metered taxi is better/safer?

1st sim , Google for uber Bangkok referral code ,take the code and get 100baht free .

2nd sim,use 1st sim referral code , so u will get 100baht on 2nd sim, then ur 1st sim will get another 100baht ....

Not really prefer metered taxi .

since 3 person, yes metered taxi is ok, they are all over the place.

If you are leaving from a mall, go to the taxi stand.

Turth is, years of taking taxi here, i had never encountered one who start with flat rate and then u have to ask him to use meter( if happens just tell him meter chai mai dai pom mai pai). Taxi breakdown on me, yes, just 2-3 times. Waiting for me while i take a toilet run at a petrol station, at least 10 times in a year happens when u eaten dirty thai food, or the jam is so bad u need to be in a toilet.

There is very little Uber on where i live as most are concentrated in Sukhumvit and center of the city, so i cant comment much on this one.

200-300 baht is okay to me if for 3 person. That's like 30+ MYR only. So most of the time my transportation will be either public transport like taxi, bus or LRT.

the bus is actually not that bad, it's clean and cold inside. although it looks old but really well maintained.

rm3/ride
two person only rm6

for me i've tried uber on bangkok and its quite hard to get a ride
the taxis on the other hand are everywhere
you can just flag them down easily
