For new owners ..
5 things you should avoid with a brand new vehicle (1st 1000 or 2000 km):
https://youtu.be/oklqJnm7_TY
VIDEO
1. Avoid full throttle.
2. Avoid taking engine to redline.
3. Avoid using cruise control. (Avoid driving at constant rpm)
4. Avoid traveling short distance where vehicle doesn't reach normal operating temperature.
5. Avoid towing something heavy.
My personal last point No 6. Avoid rapid acceleration when engine is still cold.

Boy racers have grown up and are racing Golf Rs, FD2Rs, AMG A45 etc. The run of the mill FC1, FD2 1.8/1.5T/2.0 are not bring used much for street racing and ulu yam runs anymore. Go to office, grocery store, fetch kids from school - Yes.
Yea...until someone upgrade the turbo for the FC.

-or- slide your phone on top of the HU against the aircon vent, it's perfect place holder for our smart phone; while waiting auto support WAZE which google say they will integrate.

My econ mode usually is on by default.
I notice it is very similar to what sherman_h mentioned.
I noticed it happen when i lightly press the pedal.
New batch car, arrived 20 Oct 2016, can say no problem of this sort so far. Both Econ on or off.
