QUOTE(gladfly @ Mar 21 2017, 10:51 AM) Oops I meant no bulge.. I just serviced the car last weekend and didn't see anything out of ordinary Hmm that's strange, if really like explode without any prior damage then must be a defective tire, so the QC is not good. Pretty surprising to happen on somewhat branded tires like Yokohama.

Oh well am at the tyre shop.. As usual the boss saying that I hit a pothole.. Hence puncture. I told him I was driving at nkve.. When it happened. Straight road where got pothole. And the rims looks fine.. I know he won't believe me so I am changing the tyre and paying for it. But I do worry now on the quality of yokohama...until someone else have the same issue I guess it could be one off experience. Better be cause I still have 4 more donuts to use before swapping to a different brand. Will post more photos of the slits since I took a few after they dismounted the tire. Edit ...puncture by something?? I don't see any damage whatsoever near the slits...no scratches or peeling anywhere. And if I hit a rock my threadlines looks fine.. It looks more like someone pierced a screwdriver into my sidewalls ..lol This post has been edited by gladfly: Mar 21 2017, 06:08 PM

Yeah that's the thing about tire warranty, mostly difficult to prove hence that warranty in practice becomes nonsense.

QUOTE(gladfly @ Mar 21 2017, 03:49 PM) OK after reading up how to upload photo..here goes my attempt.. 2 slits near the words safety.. my lame attempt trying to show the slits i think you went through a pothole. you could see the tire marks on the lip of the rims. consistent with slits location.

Maybe I hit the pothole much earlier and it let go today.. But I can guarantee you there was no bulge in sight Anyway what done is done.. Hope no one has same issues like me

Sometimes , we should take things as they came , all we need to do were think a little harder and come up with a new solution , you were blessed as didnt have major accident after this tyre burst . ☺ So whats your next purchase ? Back on yoko too ? I changed back the same tyre.. Since I have 3 existing one. But once thread runs out don't think will be using it again. It's my first time ever since i had the car for 7 years that a tyre blew up on me. I came from Toyo proxes ps4 and previously GD asymmetric 2. Never had a blow out but the GD did laminate during tail end. Probably use back PS.

Once hit a brick lying in the middle of the road, straight puncture. Once even more unexpected. Trying to change lane and I did go over the small water hole beside those divider, guess what puncture. It was really slow, like 10kmh. Got one more time I can't remember and another was a bulging tire which I didn't bother to change despite numerous advice from multiple tire shop.

Frequent punctures either means tyres very poor strength against extreme stresses like potholes or tyres too low a sidewall (larger rim diameter) or too wide for that rim width (meant to fit on 6.0JJ but rim narrower than that). More often that not it's the latter two. Had these issues once until I changed rim to thicker width and these problems went away.

Just changed last weekend and first thing I noticed is the low noise level. Cornering is good, grippy. Maybe because it's new tyre
