Today went to ban hooi and another tire shop. I was surprised that they told me no 55 size.
Instead was recommended advan db RM380 for 215/55/17.

QUOTE(GlennNZJ @ Dec 23 2016, 05:28 PM) Just purchased 4pcs of Advan Fleva at RM360 per piece for 215/55/R17 not incls GST. Is this price reasonable? Just changed 4 pcs... RM360 without gst in Rawang. Balancing alignment included. Actually I asked Weng Heng Kota Kemuning RM345 without gst but lazy to go so far. Today went to Rawang to collect cheque. Initial impression is quite good. Stiffer wall than PS3. I dont think I will ever go back to Michelin given how bad the peel off I got from my set. Definitely worthy to try V701 given the price is really much cheaper. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Jan 4 2017, 03:04 PM |

QUOTE(gladfly @ Jan 6 2017, 01:58 PM) So far I driven about 1k so can't really put a accurate review. It's stiffer than the ps3 which I used previously. The tracking seems a bit loose, hence I would say the dry grip is not as good as ps3. But wet grip is very good.. No hint of veering when going through puddles at high speed. I think I had different feeling about Fleva. At first, I was pretty happy with the PS3 until I bought a car for my wife. It came with CSC5 and straightaway I noticed that PS3 might not be the performance tires it claimed to be. Yes, the grip is not bad but I feel the tires are lazy. Cornering for example tend to understeer probably due to the lousy sidewall. In terms of noise..its new so it's pretty quiet compared with my old ps3 which was rumbling loudly at 80kpn. Overall I would say it's a good tyre based on the budget. Fleva feeling is straightaway an improvement. It feel responsive, especially when turning. It was like immediate. It was fun to drive compare to PS3. I think the tires stiffness is so good that you feel more of the car body roll instead of it understeering for more comfort like what the PS3 did. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jan 6 2017, 11:46 PM) PS3 is well known for its aquaplaning resistance which is going thru puddles. Don't mistaken that for wet grip though, coz they're slightly different qualities even though related. Wet grip is more like grip on wet surface but not having puddles. So PS3 is often the best at aquaplaning resistance but not necessarily have the best wet grip, there are other tires that can have better wet grip but yet cannot have as good aquaplaning resistance as PS3. Hard to compare since it's on different car and different profile too. If I had to choose blindly, CSC5. Never feel so fun whack corner. No funny feeling. However when going over bad roads, really have to slow down. I would say Fleva still a bit more comfortable than CSC5.CSC5 is indeed better in most aspects than PS3, it's a damn excellent tire! I'm using it now and I think it's the best tire I've used so far. PS3 I think is a good all rounder tryuing to offer balacne between comfort and performance but not the ultimate best at most aspects except maybe aquaplaning resistance. So the Fleva feels more sporty is it? How is it compared to CSC5? |

QUOTE(sivanathan04 @ Jan 8 2017, 12:22 AM) I too agree with the wet performance by this fleva..when going through puddles its very steady...dry grip is good..the noise level is low too...for the price definitely a good buy Wet performance should be really tested when tires thread fell below 50%. Most new tires handle water puddle really well since they still have deep groove to channel water out. Some really fell off the cliff as they worn out. For example, I was using Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3, which is a really good tires when it comes to wet performance. However there was one where I drove through running water after passing through NSE, and there's plenty of wheel spin when I tried to accelerate past 80kmh. Well, to be fair, the thread depth only left 2mm. In comparison, PS3 fared slightly better before I changed mine last week. |

Personally I prefer lower air pressure. The tire shop filled my tires to 35psi. Handling was ok but I find it a bit scary. Lowered it to 32psi and definitely feel better.

QUOTE(gladfly @ Mar 21 2017, 10:25 PM) I changed back the same tyre.. Since I have 3 existing one. I never had Async2 but I'm using GSD3 last time. I can tell you I had more puncture than you can imagined. Once hit a brick lying in the middle of the road, straight puncture. Once even more unexpected. Trying to change lane and I did go over the small water hole beside those divider, guess what puncture. It was really slow, like 10kmh. Got one more time I can't remember and another was a bulging tire which I didn't bother to change despite numerous advice from multiple tire shop. But once thread runs out don't think will be using it again. It's my first time ever since i had the car for 7 years that a tyre blew up on me. I came from Toyo proxes ps4 and previously GD asymmetric 2. Never had a blow out but the GD did laminate during tail end. Probably use back PS. |

Finally can update on this thread since my tires are almost up for a change. Overall, I'm quite happy with the tires for the price I paid and its performance. The noise level is still surprisingly good even when worn out, outperformed even my previous set of PS3. One of the tires (front right) has some tearing on the outer thread. Im pretty sure I have never driven fast on stones, otherwise all four tires will have the same cuts. Other than that, I really have zero complaint about them.
My cousin who had the same tires (after I recommended them) didnt fare as well as mine did. Im not sure whether its his driving style, allignment/toe problem, but both his front tires are bolded on the outer thread. Im pretty used to soft tires wearing out its outer thread faster but not this serious. Im kinda inclined to try another set after the good experience but I will survey the market to see if there are any better deals. Saw Toyo TR1 and to be honest, the design simply scream "I'll be loud". |

QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Apr 23 2019, 08:03 AM) Are you staying in klang valley? New tires will be quiet regardless of road condition and tyre brand.Or anyone here staying at klang? How you guys judge the noise of the tyre? The road conditions here is so bad. Whatever tyre also noisy. I think if you are used to UHP tires, then you will have a rough idea how they will sound when they are worn out. I started with the most noisy tires which is Eagle F1 (V shaped thread). Then to Michelin PS3 which is much better when worn out but now I think Fleva is even better than PS3 when worn out. The only tires which I tried quite long ago and really live up to the name is Falken ST115. It is really quiet but I dont know if anyone can bear with the 15K-20K mileage before totally botak even when you are just driving normally. Opps, forgot to answer... I stayed in Kepong. QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Apr 23 2019, 09:32 AM) I used re003 and ps3. If you really need the grip only, why are you complaining? You might even opt for those even higher performance tires. For me same same only. But when travelled on highway. Ps3 is better. Re003 once pass 20k mark, very noisy. But the drip is superb. Noise for me is minor. I want grip only. And klamg road..... My god....... For the love of God. I wish I don't need to stay here. |

QUOTE(nestum @ Apr 27 2019, 09:50 PM) Depends on what you prioritise... I want a comfort uhp and Fleva outperform PS3. For just pure performance, PS3 maybe better. Fleva screamed a lot when being pushed, while PS3 just understeer cool and calm. If I'm looking for performance only, the CSC5 on my wife car is miles better than both. |

QUOTE(brandon8921 @ Jul 19 2019, 10:42 AM) Have been using advan fleva V701 on my ride 235/40R18 for about 25000km If you spin, shouldn't you blame the rear tires instead? Front tires losing traction would still go straight.Tread life still about 40% and now looking for new tyre to replace this. Here is my review: Dry handling is superb. Better than PS4 i use previously. However in wet handling is opposite of PS4. Wheel spin all the way. There was once i almost crash on highway. Heavy rain and i was crusing at 100km/h. Suddenly my front wheel just loose traction and start to spin!!! Luckily that highway is 3 lanes and no other car nearby. From fast lane spin and swerve left and right until manage to control back my car. Since then i not dare drive over 80km/h when raining. PS4 is really king of wet handling UHP tyre. Comfort is not there as my car is equipped with adjustable suspension and 40 series tyre wont be comfort afterall. But definitely noiser when compare to PS4 and my friend (same car same setup) using V12evo2. Treadwear life is also not that good. For my daily usage in town and ocassionaly touge i think should last only 40000km max. QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 25 2019, 11:20 PM) No wonder, those are all Continental low end models aimed at focusing on comfort so of course the sidewall are all thin and flimsy. But yeah Continental good line ups are mostly only for 17 upwards, same like the FK510 unfortunately. I can say for sure 701 > PS3. Best is go for PS4 or at least PS3 if 16'. Otherwise get Goodyear F1D5, also an excellent tire on par with PS3 and surely still better than V701. |

QUOTE(sg999 @ Aug 5 2019, 01:14 AM) Hehehe... yeah... Noise and sidewall is better IMO for my Sonata. In comparison, I think PS3 is slightly more noisy when worned out, soft sidewall, and one of the aspect that I hate the most is it understeer quite frequently. The V701 did scream a lot more than PS3 but at least it did not understeer. I think your mileage may vary depending on how you used them. I often wear them down to 1-2mm before changing a new set, hence thats why I feel V701 is more stable/better overall. V701 lasted for just 30K in my car vs 40K for PS3 previously. Moreover the peeling on Michelin outer thread is also another minus point. Im currently on a new set of Primacy 3ST (tired of looking for V12E2, even Hankook shop recommended Michelin due to more competitive pricing). Very quiet, okay-ish grip. I do find the braking performance is a bit scary when hard braking. Havent try aquaplanning test. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Aug 5 2019, 01:05 PM |
