Xiaomi will kick off sales of the Redmi Note 4 in China starting August 26 for ¥899 ($135) for the 16GB variant, and ¥1,199 ($180) for the model with 64GB of storage. No word as of now regarding availability in Malaysia or other Asian markets, but seeing as how Xiaomi will be looking to continue its momentum, it shouldn't be too far off.

I hv no issue with any SoC. As long as we know each SoC's attributes, we can do anything safely. Helio X20 is on 20nm fab. Should be power efficient. Xiaomi should have gone for Helio P20.
But, Xiaomi lately "ignore" Android upgrade for MTK. Don't think RN4 MTK will get Nougat...soon... One major benefit to invest in MTK SoC is there are tons of One-Click-Root apps out there... rmn4 for me more to a downgrad..see mi4i for example..some people fallen to the "numbering" but infact mi4i was wayyyy slower than mi3 or mi4.

Xiaomi don't sell rmn4 here does not make sense. Why would they want to manufacture so many variants knowing this would be cost up.

Nah RN4 supposedly replacing the older RN3 base model. helio X10 --> X20. Simple as that. Going by overall spec it is still an expected improvement.
Pro version however felt like it ruined the whole hierarchy in redmi series |

On one day using this phone, no problem I faced. The build quality is good, prettier than note 3 IMO, camera no much different from note 3.

I heard that MediaTek has it's own version of Quick Charge but that's about it, i don't know the details. Anyone getting any issues with SMS in the last couple of days? I had a hangouts update the other day and I've only just realised texts were being a bit weird ie not receiving.
I just rebooted the phone, texts are coming through now but hangouts is not associating names to some of the phone numbers despite the contacts definitely being in the phone. |

Just received my phone and I'm already impressed. Build quality is really premium feel. Doesn't feel mid range at all and I'm also galaxy s7 edge user. Will try some games later.

With the dual SIMs in active mode, the 4 hours SOT is considered above average if on data constantly. How's the heat during this 11 hours period? Luke warm or cool all the time...?

The MIUI downloads section lists a "Redmi Note 4 China (which has a developers ROM avaliable) and a Redmi Note 4 MTK Global (which only has the stable ROM). Would it be 2 different ROMS (one with Chinese apps and one with Google?) or 2 different phones with different codenames?

I have this update ota but it's 1.3gb. so I let it download and update. But since last night it keep rebooting while say updating. What should I do now?

Saw at lazada the 3gb 64gb version, rm827 (by dfaro, got 2yr wrnty).. Today cimb got 10% app discount, so can get rm744.30 (but cant use voucher code).. Another one by TM Gadget, same 3gb 64gb, rm759.. No cimb discount, use voucher LOGIN50 to get rm50 discount, become only rm709.. but 1yr wrnty only. Wow.. last fully charged was ~1 day 8 hours ago (32 hours ago), and battery still got 50% left. Data was on all the time, brightness was set to auto, whatsapp was the only app i gave permission to autostart and 'lock' in the recent app list. Superb!

i went through the page and i think by giving a review it will help
screen: rmn 4 better contrast than redmi note 3 pro, but colour temperature are much colder. redmi note 3 pro colours are more accurate to my eyes. earpiece: rmn 4 has better earpiece, my calls were more clear than on rmn3 pro. speaker: rmn 4 has better speaker built quality: rmn4 metal feels premium whilst rmn 3 pro metal felt really cheap weight: the redmi note 4 is heavier than rmn3 grip: rmn 4 gives better grip as it has flat sides gps: no issue at all on the rmn 4 , and i owned a mediatek device before no issue too network: no issue at all gpu : the x20 were made to compete with sd 650, the mali t880 mp4 on the x20 were scaled to match the adreno on the sd650 so the performance will be roughly the same cpu: the cortex a53 and a72 are licensed vanilla cores from arm, x20 and sd650 performs roughly the same heat: the rmn 4 only differ by 1 degree celcius when compared to rmn 3 pro, on touch it s roughly the same. charging: it supports fast charging by 5v 2A the phone performance: i get same performance from rmn 4 and rmn 3 pro battery life: roughly the same with redmi note 3 pro, but at one point with redmi note 3 i was able to get 12 hours of sot with careful usage, with the rmn 4 i am still trying and so far unsuccesful main camera: rmn4 has better camera than rmn3 pro, at the wide angle the rmn4 has a little bit of lens distortion which may be fixed in the software. but overall the rmn 4 camera is way better in taking pictures. front camera: rmn4 camera has a smaller viewing angle than on rmn3. but the picture quality is better. fingerprint sensor: now this is the most important of all, on the redmi note 3 pro it was a pain in the ass to unlock because it was not that accurate. i need at least tap 2 to 3 times to unlock if i am being lazy. on the redmi note 4 the fingerprint unlock is so good i can say i never had problem unlocking it. for those who has reservation on mediatek they should not anymore, the x20 is the first of mediatek chip that is capable of competing with a midrange qualcomm soc like the 650. they have also improved the modem power usage. any better would be the snapdragon 820. any reason one should go for redmi note 3 pro is the cyanogenmod rom. because on both devices, miui is quite a let down so far. for those wanting snapdragon with redmi note 4 design, redmi 4 is now out with a capable soc for non gamers which is the snapdragon 625. My redmi note 4 used to show there is options for VoLTE. After update to 8.0.4.0 . No more this options. Anyone still have it? I softbricked my phone after OTA. So I followed some guides to flash, probably the steps disabled VoLTE options.

I suggest you use tempered glass. I use the phone without casing and glass protector for 3 days.. already got fine hairline scratch on the screen. It's certainly not as good as other higher end phone glass. I'm using dark blue case on my grey set. It looks good. |
