Just wanna check, after I flash my MTK unit, will I still have those bloatware like Clean Master and some rubbish apps? I will need to install Google Play Store myself right? I don't recall seeing my sister's unit comes with Mi Store App by default, I presume it will appear after I flash to Fastboot ROM.

Sigh. I guess my sister really bought the wrong model. Didn't know there are Pro and MTK. doh.gif sad.gif

All China-based ROM don't have PlayStore. China government banned Google access over there. So, just flash the Xiaomi.EU ROM instead. Your unit is "Hennessy". Ensure backup before Unlock Bootloader.

p/s : The consultation charge is RM1,000 x 0.1 hour...

Yes, know about the Google's limitation. tongue.gif China is like my second home, travel there once every few months. laugh.gif
OK, I will flash to EU ROM then. biggrin.gif
By reading the link which GameSky shared earlier, it seems Windows 8 and above users need extra step to disable digital driver signature.
https://thebroodle.com/android/install-medi...-windows-8-8-1/
If that's the case, Windows 7 will be a better option? Then, I will use my office laptop...
I will view your YouTube again. biggrin.gif

My friend Redmi Note 3 Pro bought from DirectD having same issue..stuck at MIUI 7.5..check for update but its latest..
If updater failed to verify the ROM i downloaded, need to use edl method? but edl method will wipe data right?  doh.gif

Yours is AP set with vendor rom, which only stuck at MIUI 7.5 and won't able to detect the Updater.zip, even everytime you tap "System Update" also won't do any update.

Try flash the phone with global stable rom, any version of it is ok.
I flash it myself with the fastboot method(the so called method 3 on en.miui.com) which works for me.
Now it just behaved like the normal Malaysia ori set, it will auto detect the update and prompt for update. It already auto update to MIUI 8.0.5.0.

No matter which Windows OS we use, just kill:
1) Windows Firewall
2) Windows UAC
3) Windows Dedender (if any)
4) Any 3rd party anti-virus/firewall
5) Disable driver signature (Win 8 and above)

Got it. smile.gif

MIUI failed me, I read so many links and still can't get a proper grasp on this part. So difficult. rclxub.gif Or maybe because I'm already out from flashing scene for 3 years. laugh.gif
Can anyone kindly enlighten/spoonfeed me on the steps to wipe my current rubbish vendor ROM to something which is usable and without so many useless apps? Preferable not China ROM.

I was thinking if these are correct? I just need to flash to fastboot, then unlock bootloader and lastly flash to EU firmware?

Please pardon me as I'm very new to MIUI. I could have left the phone just like it is now but I really want to do something to it before I return it back to my sister that is after I get back my own phone first la. laugh.gif I don't want to brick it and I don't have anything to use. laugh.gif

First priority is to unlock bootloader via China Dev ROM (which could be already in that unit now...?).

After unlock bootloader, you r free to do whatever u want, I.e. Xiaomi.EU flashing...

You r a responsible sister, can u be my sis...? j/k...

Actually I know you here in LYT way back 5 years ago...but I always changing my LYT nickname...like this nickname is already my 10th ...

Alright got it! biggrin.gif Then, what is this fastboot ROM for? Am I right to say I don't need to flash fastboot if I want the Xiaomi EU? unsure.gif

Yeah, my elder sister treats me well, I also feel bad that she is holding a trash. laugh.gif

Thanks for telling me about your nickname changes. laugh.gif So long you only use one active account and abandon the rest, we are OK with it. I can see your dupe accounts. rolleyes.gif

It's not called fastboot ROM. It's called "fastboot" update/flash. In order to update/flash via fastboot method, the ROM has to be compatible, ie. the file extension is .TAR/.TGZ. This file has to be extracted first (perhaps twice using WinRAR) before can be used in MiFlash Tool or MTK SP Flash Tool.

You have to ensure ur Hennessy is running China Dev ROM in order to unlock bootloader. FYI, unlock bootloader approval is from Xiaomi China and may take UP TO 7 days. So, your sis may not be getting back her phone if u could not unlock bootloader in time. Well, unlock bootloader process is not simple:

http://en.miui.com/thread-200858-1-1.html

If you feel the risk is high, just abandon the task.

But assuming every thing is in order, after flashing to Xiaomi.EU ROM, the device will be better than the time she had it last January...wayyyy better...it's worth the effort...
