My V10 died and I borrowed this phone from my sister for temporary while waiting for mine to be fixed. It's using developer ROM and I have nothing but only frustration. Tried flash to official ROM but didn't succeed, tried it using my sister's laptop. I will try again on my laptop. I hope it's easy to flash.

Not sure why but the RN3 that I have can't seem to have Security Apps feature, I have been searching for quite some time and even Googled it.
Anyway, I think I will need to erase the whole phone and flash to a good ROM. The more I use it, the more frustrated I am. This post has been edited by fruitie: Oct 6 2016, 02:29 PM |

QUOTE(gastacopz @ Oct 6 2016, 03:42 PM) Cannot flash at all. QUOTE(GameSky @ Oct 6 2016, 03:57 PM) probably vendor rom. use edl method to clean flash.. makesure to backup internal storage data first. Yes, vendor rom. Nah, I'm more than happy to delete the whole phone. So, still can flash even if it is this variant? |

Just wanna check, after I flash my MTK unit, will I still have those bloatware like Clean Master and some rubbish apps? I will need to install Google Play Store myself right? I don't recall seeing my sister's unit comes with Mi Store App by default, I presume it will appear after I flash to Fastboot ROM.
Sigh. I guess my sister really bought the wrong model. Didn't know there are Pro and MTK. This post has been edited by fruitie: Oct 6 2016, 10:30 PM |

QUOTE(azhar75 @ Oct 6 2016, 10:55 PM) All China-based ROM don't have PlayStore. China government banned Google access over there. So, just flash the Xiaomi.EU ROM instead. Your unit is "Hennessy". Ensure backup before Unlock Bootloader. Yes, know about the Google's limitation. p/s : The consultation charge is RM1,000 x 0.1 hour... OK, I will flash to EU ROM then. By reading the link which GameSky shared earlier, it seems Windows 8 and above users need extra step to disable digital driver signature. https://thebroodle.com/android/install-medi...-windows-8-8-1/ If that's the case, Windows 7 will be a better option? Then, I will use my office laptop... I will view your YouTube again. |

QUOTE(azhar75 @ Oct 6 2016, 11:11 PM) No matter which Windows OS we use, just kill: Got it. 1) Windows Firewall 2) Windows UAC 3) Windows Dedender (if any) 4) Any 3rd party anti-virus/firewall 5) Disable driver signature (Win 8 and above) MIUI failed me, I read so many links and still can't get a proper grasp on this part. So difficult. Can anyone kindly enlighten/spoonfeed me on the steps to wipe my current rubbish vendor ROM to something which is usable and without so many useless apps? Preferable not China ROM. I was thinking if these are correct? I just need to flash to fastboot, then unlock bootloader and lastly flash to EU firmware? Please pardon me as I'm very new to MIUI. I could have left the phone just like it is now but I really want to do something to it before I return it back to my sister that is after I get back my own phone first la. |

QUOTE(azhar75 @ Oct 6 2016, 11:29 PM) First priority is to unlock bootloader via China Dev ROM (which could be already in that unit now...?). Alright got it! After unlock bootloader, you r free to do whatever u want, I.e. Xiaomi.EU flashing... You r a responsible sister, can u be my sis...? j/k... Actually I know you here in LYT way back 5 years ago...but I always changing my LYT nickname...like this nickname is already my 10th ... Yeah, my elder sister treats me well, I also feel bad that she is holding a trash. Thanks for telling me about your nickname changes. |

QUOTE(azhar75 @ Oct 7 2016, 12:30 AM) It's not called fastboot ROM. It's called "fastboot" update/flash. In order to update/flash via fastboot method, the ROM has to be compatible, ie. the file extension is .TAR/.TGZ. This file has to be extracted first (perhaps twice using WinRAR) before can be used in MiFlash Tool or MTK SP Flash Tool. It's OK, this is her spare phone. She is using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 now. Alright, I will go step by step. You have to ensure ur Hennessy is running China Dev ROM in order to unlock bootloader. FYI, unlock bootloader approval is from Xiaomi China and may take UP TO 7 days. So, your sis may not be getting back her phone if u could not unlock bootloader in time. Well, unlock bootloader process is not simple: http://en.miui.com/thread-200858-1-1.html If you feel the risk is high, just abandon the task. But assuming every thing is in order, after flashing to Xiaomi.EU ROM, the device will be better than the time she had it last January...wayyyy better...it's worth the effort... |
