there UI improvement in miui8 that i think i cant go back to 7

mi max some say almost or slightly slower than rn3 pro..
mi note n mi5 use very different ( way faster soc and internal storage and camera )
go get mi5 or mi5s even better if u want the best for now.

Since you don't change phone frequently & you love taking pix, Redmi Note 3 Pro may not be suitable. Not even Mi5 or Mi5S.

Xiaomi's camera output is not as per what they highlighted. Since you are already targeting Mi5, might as well go for OnePlus 3 (A3003 model).

I was too lazy to flash back cause i spend so much time doing the research and flashing and failures and so on. Thanks for the comments. Based on the problems with the china dev rom, I will change back to global rom.

Yes, according to Thorus not the first time. So Xiaomi now has a history of mismatch imeis hahaha

Not stupid in general but I find myself stupid buying anything new because, for me, no matter how cool the gadget is, I sell after a month or two. Therefore, I prefer used stuff!

Not sure, mate. You wouldn't believe but I have used over 100 phones since the beginning of 2015 and only 2 had the problem (1 was HTC M7 and the other one BlackBerry Passport).
I guess once you have the confidence, buying used stuff wouldn't really matter.

can i know how you flash back to global rom? using fastboot? and flash_all.bat? I scared to get it wrong now. Don't wanna brick the phone again....

How much sot are you getting in your mi max? And how much sot you used to get in your redmi note 3?

Follow steps below (Fastboot Method) :

Just make sure to set the flashing mode to "Flash all / Clean all" located in the bottom right corner of the MiFlash Tool.
This will wipe everything including TWRP Recovery. It'll be replaced by Global Stock Recovery (black-white Xiaomi phone and cable pix).

This process should take less than 15 minutes.

Once booting, it'll take less than 15 minutes to get to the MIUI setup page.
