Well actually I wonder why most ppl prefer Onyx than Raven Elite (both 1060) tho, can share?

I bought an Acer Predator Helios 300 1060 16gb Ram last Sunday because Illegear was not opened on Sunday and now I freaking regret it. Wanna sell it off and buy Raven Elite asap.

Any owner of Raven Elite 1060 care to share experience? Thank you in advance.

Bought Raven Elite last July. A friend of mine bought 2 units of Helio 300 from lowyat, same spec with the raven elite, 1060, i7 8th gen. One for himself, one for his brother.
While im happy using raven, those two units of helio was defective.
Both had screen artifact issue, and one of it died after few weeks of usage.
Screen issue took about a month to fix due to sparepart unavailable at highpoint service center, while one of it that cant turn on was due to some internal wiring.

Why im tellling this story, is that, good riddance if you sold your predator and get something else, especially that batch *manufactured in april/may*. The service center said that batch have issues due to lack of QC. Bear in mind, after the screen replacement, all is good lol.

and raven experience? I had no issues from day one, except minor audio drive related issues which solvable by quick google. And ill recommend getting the FHD instead the 4K because not every windows app supports scaling out of the box for 4K. *MSSQL management studio looks so friggin tiny on 4K 15 inch screen by default*.

Overall, im satisfied with the raven. laugh.gif

First, my main concern, I am a 3D lecturer who uses dual or triple monitors every day in my life, so I overlooked that Helios 300 has only one graphic output, well who knows a gaming laptop with 1060 and they decided to put only 1 graphic output for it. So with this only 1 graphic output (HDMI), I can only connect it to a monitor.

Second, the cooling factor is kinda bad, CPU temp can reach 100c.

Other than that, not too bad for a cheap gaming laptop.

My Helios 300 specs:
i7-8750H
16gb Ram (I added another 8gb ram)
128gb SSD + 1tb HDD
1060 6gb
144hz FULL IPS

I am selling off at Rm4800 (without the bag or headset), Rm4750 if you come and pick it up.
The item is LESS THAN A WEEK OLD. Just in case if anyone wants it. Haha.

Lucikly mine was not defective "so far", well, last Sunday I went to Illegear but unfortunately they are not open as they changed their operation days from 7days to 6days so I can't buy my Illegear that time, so went to Lowyat and check out other laptops and bumped into my friend selling me this Acer Predator, well it is kinda tempting because of the price, then I bought it...

And now, regret it.

If someone asks me about gaming laptops, predator is actually on my most recommending list. The build is "usually" good and for its pricing as well. Another thing, if you decide to sell, if possible, keep the predator bag lmao. its cool AF and checking the predator bag on All IT price tag is RM 1.6k or even buying it online costs about 100-150 USD. brows.gif

On Raven elite gaming, my GPU is 70-90C on normal room temperature non-airconditioning with laptop cooler ( its like 31c here in Bangkok). Running Android emulators makes CPU on 60-70c depending on the settings.
Also while gaming, you'd feel the body becomes warm due to raven elite has aluminum body. Also when transferring files to your HDD, for a longer period, you'd feel the bottom right beside the touchpad very warm due to the hardisk positioning.

The temperature looks fine to me as i had Lenovo gaming laptop before and it was even hotter sweat.gif. The raven gaming center usually auto kicks the fan boost when the system heats up to cool it off, then it will return the fan to normal mode. There is also a button for the fan boost unlike the acer predator where you have to turn it on in the control panel.

Correcto! I am keeping the bag, ironically the bag looks cooler than the laptop itself haha.

But one more thing to ask, your Raven Elite is core i7-8750H right? Cause I heard 8750H produces a lot more heat.

Yes mine on i7-8750H. And your're right, any laptop that has this chip, you'd find people are actually worrying about the amount of heat it produces. Max Temp on this badboy CPU is at 100C. So imo anywhere in between 80-90 is still okay.

This is why i picked this model, heatpipes, dual fans, kryonaut thermal paste, etc.
You definitely need a good laptop cooler as well

Comparing Raven (RM3810) vs ONYX (RM4949). Promotion now. Only liking the Onyx too due to its build design, bezel-less display and 480gb ssd free upgrade. Everything else between them are the same, which do you guys think is a better deal?

The reason i picked raven elite and not onyx is due to onyx too slim, i worried that the cooling issue with i7 8th gen and 1060gtx. But there is a thread of Onyx users around here, and it looks pretty fine too so i guess its alright on that part. Having 480GB SSD deal, i'd probably go for it if i were you laugh.gif

ONYX has slightly higher temperature than Raven Elite, and louder fan noise.

As for James, one of our staff who attended to work on Sunday has some family matter, also there weren't many visitors on Sunday so we decided to operate 6 days temporary.

Hi Illegear sifus, I'm facing a problem with my now 2+ yrs old Z5.

Scenario: It stutters for a moment before freezing with looping audio, then the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) comes on with the message, "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart".

This doesn't happen often, but only sometimes when I open photoshop or 3d software. On my 3d software, it will automatically switch to default renderer (cpu only) instead of render engine plugin, then the above scenario starts. Could it be a graphic card problem? I ran memtest and found no errors with the ram.

Thank you smile.gif

Will there be any 17inch laptop with IPS 144hz display and mechanical keyboard option available? It seem both options only available for 15inch laptop so far.

And how does the ILLEGEAR Onsite Service/Pickup Warranty 3 Year Labor Parts & Lifetime Technical Support works?

What courier will be using and does it have insurance cover for the item sent and receive?

Also Guaranteed no dead or partially-lit pixels for first 180 days of purchasing, do you mean any pixel defect? Can explain further.

I notice if purchase online from your site, you will be using DHL, does this include insurance cover too?

There's also the RAIDER gaming desktop. but the warranty only cover carry-in?
